GUILTY PA - Tiffany Gillespie, 24, pregnant, murdered, Philadelphia, 16 Feb 2012

Tiffany Gillespie aged 24 and the mother of an 8 year old and a pre school aged child was 6 months pregnant. Gillespie's 19 year old boyfriend Aaron Fitzpatrick was upset about her pregnancy so he shot her in the head murdering her in the basement of her mother's home.

A jury yesterday convicted a 22-year-old South Philly man of first-degree murder for fatally shooting his pregnant girlfriend.

The panel also convicted Aaron Fitzpatrick of third-degree murder in the death of Tiffany Gillespie's unborn child and of weapon offenses...

Fitzpatrick was immediately sentenced by Common Pleas Judge Steven Geroff to a mandatory term of life in prison on the first-degree murder conviction. The third-degree murder conviction in this case also carried a mandatory term of life in prison because Fitzpatrick was convicted of another murder charge - Gillespie's slaying... Geroff made the two life sentences concurrent.
