I don't get the blocking of the phone records, either. If the McCanns are innocent then why not release the phone records?

If they're not sure, then why not release the phone records?

I havent heard that the phone records are being blocked -and I agree that if they have nothing to hide it shouldnt be a problem

It is probably a procedure problem - Most phone companies here - as in a lot countries follow strict data protection rules - there are procedures to follow - The PJ and any law enforcement agenies have to just follow these - ie get a warrant or something to release the information - this is all within a legal framework now - remember if this were to ever get to trial everything must have been done by the book - the PJ would look pretty silly if it were found that evidence was inadmissable if they broke procedure in getting it.

Horse Hockey...If the McCanns had nothing to hide, the procedure would be quit simple. "Oh you need our phone records?...here you go, any thing to help find our baby..." There are not procedure problems, there are cooperation problems.

come on - even the states follows legal protocol - this is a MURDER investigation - as you all know they are arguidos and now the PJ have to base their case on whoever - especialy the mcaans within the law and follow legal procedure for all evidence .

what would happen if the phone records were deemed to be inadmissable because they didnt get the correct legal framework in place .

Its like searching a home without a warrant .

The McCanns are not calling this a murder investigation, at least not openly.

Prior to their being named arguidos they could and should have handed over any and all records without any legal ramifications due to the fact they would have been aiding in the investigation of their missing daughter. Fact is they didn't, I beleive becuase they have things to hide

If you invite the police into your home to conduct a search, no warrent is necessary. Why would innocent people not invite such a search?? Not answer the 40 questions?? Not hand over all records??

The PJ have openly suspected that the mccanns were guilty - of course it is a murder investigation what else could it be .

I dont know the timelines about when they wanted to the phone records - but have only just heard about it recently - If the phone records are so damm important then the PJ should get off its 🤬🤬🤬 and start to do some proper police work - I am fed up hearing all this stuff about how these nasty Mcaans are not doing this or that - for gods sake Police have powers - use them get some warrants - get them back to portugal get the records - start doing what they should have done from the start

Since I heard the PJ are being prevented from accessing the financial, medical and phone records of the McCann's and forensic results are blocked by bureaucracy, I am feeling less encouraged, more disheartened, disillusioned and sickened. It stinks of a cover-up.

Yes. However, their home is valued at 500,000 Euros.

Gord - I understand your frustration here, but have you considered that it is all a media game? The Portugese against the English? The PLE say one thing and the BMedia say another. Following the case, it does appear that there is some sort of problem with cooperation in getting information from England.

There was a good article, I think the link is in the Portugese Press links, that explained why it was taking so long for PLE to send the interrogatory letter to the British LE. And, according to that article, it could take six months or longer before that questioning happens.

I'm thinking that there must also be the same process for the phone records. BUT, I also think the McCanns have the ability to speed up that process. Heck, they could give the PLE copies of their bills if they wanted too. I imagine that the McCann's legal team is advising against that. The McCanns had a legal team put together within days of Maddie's disappearance.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. I really think we have a bit of a he said/she said game going on here and that about 99% of all news articles these days are related to that game and don't have a darn thing to do with anything else.

Producer quits 'dishonest' BBC programme about Madeleine McCann

a few snips from the article:

A producer quit a BBC programme about Madeleine McCann as he felt the documentary verged "on the dishonest", it was disclosed yesterday.

The broadcast script contains nuances that suggest that the McCanns still have a case to answer. The BBC should have had the courage to state that this is simply not so."

I find this strange. Our UK friends here felt this was a "refreshing" program that supported the McCanns. Obviously team McCann didn't think so.

The producer, David Mills, was a firm supporter of the Ramseys in his documentaries about them (called "crockumentaries" by those who believe the Ramseys were as guilty as sin.)

That should tell us all something.
