Trial starting shortly:

Timothy Wiltsey, 5 years old, 1991, New Jersey. Mother Michelle Lodzinski said that she left her son standing in line for a ride at a carnival for a few minutes whilst she went to buy a soda, and when she returned he was gone. She changed this story several times, inventing various abductors. No credible witnesses recalled seeing Timothy at the carnival.

Timothy's remains were found 11 months after he disappeared, close to an industrial estate where his mother had once worked. In 1994, in an odd twist, she was arrested and eventually confessed to lying about being kidnapped by federal agents, to avoid appearing before s grand jury in Timothy's case.

The case went cold for years, but in 2014 Lodzinski was charged with murder. Jury selection has begun for her trial.

Grace Lillian Ford, 2 years old, 2014, Texas.

Melinda Muniz was watching her boyfriend's daughter, Grace. She was talking to him on the phone when he heard a commotion on her end of the line. He phoned 911 for a welfare check.



When police started to ask questions, Muniz faked amnesia. After she was arrested, she told police that Grace had accidentally died in an arts and crafts project gone wrong after duct taping her own face, and she had staged the home invasion because she was scared of getting into trouble.

In 2015 Muniz was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to LWOP.

Note: I found this case interesting because at first a lot of sleuthers suspected the birth mother, who was perceived at having a lack of genuine grief at her daughter's death. She turned out to have absolutely nothing to do with it.

I remember this one, as well as some others..this was one sick woman, not her kid but her BF's kid. So many beautiful babies in this thread..and so sad.

January 23, 2015. Ellorah Rose Warner, 19 days old.

Baby Ellorah was only 19 days old when her father, Matthew Warner, sexually assaulted her then beat her to death while babysitting her while her mother was at work. Matthew was high on meth at the time. Warner's mother-in-law was in the next room. She said:

... that her daughter had gone to her job as a daycare provider early Friday and left the baby with the father in the couple’s bedroom. Later in the day, Allison said she heard strange noises coming from the room and thought the baby’s crying seemed weak.

The woman became suspicious and tried to call police about 5 p.m., but the phone had been disconnected. Warner and the baby were gone by the time she called from a neighbor’s home, she said.

Later that day Matthew and Ellorah's mother went to the police station to report Ellorah missing. Not long after the search for Ellorah began Matthew broke down and led LE to her body:

Ellorah Warner was discovered inside the cab of a parked truck in the 23600 block of Newhall Avenue around 7 a.m. Jan. 24, and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Holly Francisco, the homicide detective leading the investigation.

Homicide detectives said the baby’s father, Matthew Warner, led sheriff’s officials to where the body was found.

Matthew Warner was charged with murder, assault on a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger, and aggravated sexual assault of a child. In October 2015 Warner pleaded no contest to first degree murder. The other charges were dropped as part of the agreement. He was sentenced to 50 years.

Warner entered a no contest plea to one count of first-degree murder and admitted to a prior strike conviction on Sept. 2, the DA’s Office stated.

All of the remaining charges were dropped as a result of the plea agreement, DA’s Office spokesman Ricardo Santiano said.

Superior Court Judge David Walgren sentenced Warner to 50 years to life in state prison after hearing victim impact statements from the infant’s mother and grandmother.

Either some of these cases do not quite belong here or the title needs changed. the title is very specific and suggests a resolved case where a parent was responsible. That implies arrest, conviction, or something closing the case.

Several cases listed here are still open and no arrest/conviction.

Cynara Ali, 16, 2011,Toronto - Canada.

Cynara's mother, Cindy Ali, called 911 and reported that two Jamaican men all dressed in black had invaded her home and smothered her disabled teenage daughter. She claimed that the men were looking for a mysterious package, and a few weeks after Cynara died the family received a badly spelled letter supposedly from the two men, saying that "the boss" had given them the wrong address. In March 2016 Cindy Ali was found guilty of first degree murder.

Note: this is one of the few cases I've been able to find where a caretaker appears to have panicked and covered up a genuine accident, and had no intention of harming the child

Cause of death was found to be unsafe sleeping conditions.
Matthew Bradley pleaded guilty to Concealing Death as a Habitual Offender. He was sentenced to no less than 28 months and no more than 7.5 years in prison.

Unless those meds were doctor prescribed and taken as ordered for a known medical condition, IMO he was at least negligent in this child's death.

Ethan Stacy, 4 years old, 2011, Utah.

In 2011 Ethan was sent to live with his biological mother and her husband, due to a court-ordered custody ruling. Mother Stephanie Sloop and stepfather Nathan Sloop tortured and tormented Ethan.

When he died, the Sloops attempted to hide their crime by disfiguring Ethan's body by burning him, smashing his face with a hammer and then burying him a shallow grave near Powder Mountain in Weber County where they sprinkled dog food over his grave.

They reported him missing, but soon confessed under interrogation and led police to the body.

In 2014 Nathan Sloop pleaded guilty but mentally ill to aggravated murder. A judge sentenced him to 25 years to life in prison. Stephanie Sloop also took.a plea deal, and was sentenced to 20 year to life in prison for murder, and one to 15 years in prison for obstruction of justice.

Robert Manwill, 8 years old, 2009, Idaho.

Robert was reported missing by his mother's boyfriend, David Ehrlick Jr., whilst he was visiting his non-custodial mother, Melissa Jenkins. Jenkins was on probation for fracturing the skull of Robert's infant brother.

More than 2,300 volunteers searched for the boy in the largest ever search in Boise, Idaho. Robert's body was found over a week later, in a canal quarter of a mile from his mother's home.

The body showed extensive injuries, including multiple compression injuries to the abdomen and a blow to the head. Idaho State Pathologist Dr. Glen Groben testified that Robert’s death was caused by blunt force trauma due to an assault.

Investigators came to suspect Ehrlick and Jenkins were involved in Robert’s disappearance. They found a piece of paper covering a hole in a wall in the apartment. After having the sheet rock scanned to create a three-dimensional model, investigators concluded that the hole was caused by Ehrlick slamming Robert’s head into the wall.

A jury found Ehrlick guilty of first-degree murder and failure to report a death to law enforcement. He was sentenced to two life terms. Robert's mother, Melissa Jenkins, was also charged with first-degree degree murder for.failing to help her son, but she pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Sofina Nikat, 22, was charged with the murder of her 14-month-old baby Sanaya Sahib after the toddler was found dead in Darebin Creek in Melbourne’s northeast on April 10 just before 3pm.

Nikat reported to police the day before the grim discovery that her daughter was snatched from a pram by a barefoot man of African appearance, who reeked of alcohol.


Police appealed to the public for information about the man and no stories from witnesses aligned with the alleged claims made by Nikat.

CCTV footage captured the mother walking into Olympic Park, in Heidelberg West in Melbourne’s northeast, with her daughter.

She was later seen allegedly calmly walking out of the park with an empty pram.

Kathleen Megan Folbigg (née Donovan) (born 14 June 1967) is an Australian serial child killer. Folbigg was convicted of murdering her three infant children, eight-month-old Patrick Allen, 10-month-old Sarah Kathleen and 19-month-old Laura Elizabeth. Folbigg was also convicted of the manslaughter of a fourth child, Caleb Gibson, aged 19 days. The murders took place between 1991 and 1999,[1] coming to an end only when her husband discovered her personal diary, which detailed the killings.

Robert Donald William Farquharson (born 1969) is an Australian man charged, tried and convicted of murdering his three sons on Father's Day in 2005 by driving them in his car into a farm dam.[2]

Farquharson was convicted in an earlier trial and was sentenced to life imprisonment with no minimum term. However, he maintained his innocence and appealed his sentence.[3] On 17 December 2009, he won the right to a retrial, due in part to the key witness for the prosecution, Greg King, facing potential criminal charges himself at the time of the original trial.[4] He was released on bail on 21 December, but was again convicted of murder on 22 July 2010.

Devon Epps, 7 years old, died in 2007 in Greenville SC.

Amanda Reagan Smith, Devon's mother, claimed that a carjacker smothered her son with a pillow and then ran away. She was arrested 3 months later and charged with murder, and in 2010 she took an Alford Plea for involuntary manslaughter and obstruction of justice, and was sentenced to 8 years in prison.

Logan Tucker, 6 years old, Woodland (Oklahoma), killed by mother in June 2002.

Logan's mother, Katherine Rutan, claimed that he was violent and wanted to give him up and relinquish her parental rights, but the day before she was due to do so he disappeared. She told various conflicting stories about where he was.

No body ever found, but blood and masking tape with hair in it was found in the basement and a roomate heard Logan screaming and crying before he disappeared. His 4 year old brother told LE that his mother had taken Logan and he for a drive - Logan's mouth and eyes were taped up, and his mother said they were going to bury him. She was arrested 4 years after he disappeared.

His mother was convicted of first degree murder in 2007 and sentenced to life without parole.
