OK, playing Devil's Advocate here for a moment:
This is a FAMILY which has raked in MILLIONS of dollars based upon the retelling and spiritualization of their OWN misfortunes.

I watched the video of Ron in CT where he is talking about his own teenaged son. Had 4 car wrecks, 3 stays for detox, a baby and finally ordered to treatment by the courts ( I am probably forgetting some of the HORRIBLE MISFORTUNES).

Then there's the matter of Ron's 🤬🤬🤬🤬 addiction.
His parents' suffering over his dad's cancer for 22 YEARS. ( he died last year).

Now, we have Hope in a sexual and psychiatric crisis and Ron puts her away somewhere and vows to help her but divorce her nonetheless.

Could this be a family set up to generate more DVDs and books?
I am only asking after I watched the vile things he said about his own ten son on I.B. Nora's link to the 55 minute video.

If Hope is debasing herself in such a way with lies to sell media to congregations of thousands of people, then that's her little red wagon to pull, not mine. But if this is RON'S way of raking in the dough without her consent, then I think criminal exploitation comes into play. And probably kidnapping.

I think the entire family is sketchy.

either hope is in danger or part of a scam. she has VERY VERY expensive tastes and lives an upper class lifestyle.....both of them do. certainly not the lifestyle that most preachers say jesus would want us to live: humility, humbleness, modesty etc. they both are money hungry, obviously. are they in dire financial straights right now? follow the money often is a key to solving many cases. [ETA, im not knocking money nor the desire to have it and "things". I have more issue with hypocrisy]

I am on the fence of whether hope is a victim or a conspirator.

BBM I didn't literally mean that I was sitting here psychic visions of Hope being locked away, I just meant I imagined that something like that could be likely.

I'm sorry it was taken that way but I did laugh thinking that you thought I was sitting here with my crystal ball and charms, having some sort of psychic vision, like Madame Cleo of those old psychic hotlines that charged a few dollars a minute. :floorlaugh:

I really just meant, when I considered and wondered where she could be, that being locked away in one of those crazy brainwash places was a distinct possibility.

Holy cow (!) to your experience with your family and church trying to cast off the demons from you when you were a teen. Yeah, I definitely would have gotten a creepy feeling from that.

lol. you made me SMILE :) so funny! I needed the laugh and smile.

yeah, I have a zillion stories I could tell of my upbringing which has left me rather bitter and I have some PTSD issues etc related to it all. I have passion and strong opinions about religious issues and I have to be careful not to offend people because that is never my intention. I have just seen it all in 40 years of being attached to that world in one way or another.

So no one knows where she is?

I saw a reference in one post about Belton, TX....is there any connection to the rehab there to Hope?

To me, a "mega church" just doesn't work. It just seems to be a bigger flock to fleece and a larger audience for a raging egomanic who thinks he is the one who has been sent to save the world. Notice how those types seem to really live it up with big houses and all that.

To me, a church needs to be somewhat small to really work. Your preacher should not be some inaccessible rock star type person who needs bodyguards and a staff of hundreds who cannot possibly tend to the needs of thousands of people.

Hmmm.....wonder if he is going to split the assets with her? I can see him doing whatever he can to prevent her from getting anything, including custody of the kids where he would have to pay support.

Maybe this has something to do with the year long program. Is he buying time to rearrange finances, deem her unfit, etc? She needs an attorney now!

BBM: I had not considered this scenario- but it is certainly within the realm of possibility!

I think you may very well be on to something. I still would like LE to verify her safety. He gives me the heeby-jeebies...

mmmmm.
still reading up on the issue and posts...

I grew up in the "mega church" world, as a pastor's kid. my father was never head pastor of a mega church (but a smaller one eventually) but he was one of the pastor's on staff and at that time one of the largest mega churches in TX. In fact the head of that church was once featured on a show like 20/20 or 60min amongst other mega church pastors that were frauding their churches.

I got to see all the behind the scenes crap that goes on...and I have seen it all. oh the stories I could tell....

and while I know not all churches are bad, I wont ever step foot in one again...

I really hope she is not another "shelly".....off to read more.

ETA....that man should STEP DOWN IMMIEDIATELY as a pastor. if his home life is not in order, he has ZERO business standing on a pulpit telling other people how to live. maybe he has and im not caught up enough....

Glad I could make you laugh. Thanks so much for sharing your experience in a mega church. You have a lot of insight to offer as to how it feels to grow up in that atmosphere as well as witnessing many of the shenanigans that go in behind the scenes.

As for the pastor stepping down. I agree. Notice in his video where he first revealed Hope's issues he offered to let the church MEMBERS leave if they wanted but he never spoke of him stepping down to attend to his own obviously dysfunctional homelife.

I REALLY would like to know what his children think and if they REALLY saw their mother as he said they did "for the first time in 3 weeks". But for all we know, be brought them but made sure she was all drugged up or she had been threatened if she did or said anything that he didn't like.

Ok, I'm beginning to think this is some kind of conspiracy too.

Can anyone local petition LE to do a welfare check? Like happened with the Scientology wife?

We can only hope no one is drinking his cool aid.

I agree this could be another possibility to consider. I wonder if his income increased significantly, after the ordeal with his son.

I don't know if she would be in agreement with his tactics.

I could see someone saying if you just go away and shut up, I'll give you "this" amount of money. Some will sacrifice their integrity for $$$.

Then in the future she resurfaces to make more money speaking publicly.

I think Tammy Faye did that and there are probably others that have done the same thing.

When Ron all of a sudden said he was going to divorce Hope despite her being locked away somewhere for a presumed YEAR, this was the thing that made me think she might be a participant.
After all, there is no " Back from the brink of disaster" story unless he says there will be a divorce, which she saves them from in some miraculous healing way.

The miracle will be her healing of mind, body and spirit, and her then affecting healing of her oh so spiritual marriage, with God's help, of course.
I know these kinds of very serious problems with mental health issues and infidelity happen every day to good people, but GOOD PEOPLE keep their business to themselves and maybe share with parents who stay silent and a pastor.

To whomever said that Ron needed to step out of his pulpit until his own house is in order, AMEN SISTER!!!!

Last but not least, I'd like to say that these people are an affront to me as a Southern woman, and as a Christian. They have used their personal misdeeds and the good hearts of people who believe they are God's angels on earth to bilk a fortune out of the poor and middle class congregations. It is SHAMEFUL!!!

Mere thanks is not enough. As a Christian and a southern woman, this is exactly how I feel about this couple and their "church".
