I saw this story and it made my heart sink.

End stage cancer patients are fragile because of the drugs that dampen their immune system. I hope he is able to overcome this and have a little more time.

As others have said, Bless you Patrick.

I remember battling pneumonia while taking chemo. Of course, I was much younger than Patrick Swayze and I didn't smoke. My prayers are with him.

Ah, the side effects. I pray he beats this too. I am not being a prophet of doom rather I am a fighter for those who do have the struggle. I have been fighting for others for over 30 years. I have seen miracles and I have seen death but I have never seen a person who is fighting this disease not fight.

They are heroes of the most formidable wars and their legacy is etched in your heart forever. You never forget the words spoken to you.

Bolded by me...Amen, CP! Amen!

So much of the cure is as dangerous as the disease. My prayers for a peaceful transition for him and those who love him.

He is such a beloved celebrity. I'm glad he knows how much we love him and how much he is cared about.

I am fortunate that I met him in person. It was on a cruise in 2004 and he was so nice and accommodating to all who all who met him and wanted to take pictures of him or with him.

I had trouble working my camera and he posed four times for me just so I could get my photo. He even came over and helped me figure how to work the camera and posed one more time and I got my photo! I will always cherish it and this wonderful, caring man.

I read the cancer has spread to his lungs. I didn't read if it has spread to his liver. Anyway, not to be negative but I think this may be it. I don't think his body will be strong enough to fight it. My bro-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer last Jan.. They gave him 6 mos.- to 1 yr. He did radiation and then one round of chemo and developed pnuemonia. He was too weak to undergo anymore chemo. The docs were right. He was gone in 6 mos..

What a nice story montana_16. That does show just what kind of person he is. Pneumonia is usually a bad sign when someone is already sick but I'm counting on him to pull through this. He's proved the doctors and the tabloids wrong before.

Sorry for your loss :(
I thought he said on the BW's Special that it has spread to his liver?
I'm not sure about his lungs though.

Swayze, who was forced last month to deny tabloid stories that he was near death, told Walters that doctors diagnosed stage 4 pancreatic cancer last January, with the cancer having already spread to his liver.

In the 2nd video he talks about the jaundice

I knew about the liver but my BF told me just yesterday that he saw somwhere on a news show ( he didn't recall which one) that it had spread to the lungs. But my BF has been mistaken before. LOL

I just read that is doing fine and his mother says he is upbeat while he remains in the hospital for observation.

The fact that he is still in the hospital bothers me.When my Buddy who had liver cancer went into the hospital for the same thing they kept hime over a week and then released himThey told his wife get hospices as there was nothing else that could be done. A week later he passed.
Please don't take me wrong I hope and pray Patrick can beat this thing. But going through it with a friend I am passing on what I know. And yes I am having flashbacks of the last few months of my Buddies life.

NEW YORK (Jan. 14) -- Patrick Swayze, who's battling pancreatic cancer
and just days ago checked himself into a hospital for pneumonia,
tells PEOPLE that he's "almost in the clear" when it comes to the pneumonia, joking that he's "alive and plan on continuing to stay that way."

The 56-year-old actor says a cough due to an infection caused him to check himself into a hospital.
"I wanted to jump on it before it turned into a problem," Swayze told PEOPLE.
"As soon as I got home, I called my doctor and then went straight to the hospital and was immediately put on antibiotics."

Well it looks like he's ontop of things...keep fighting Patrick!

JDB...I'm sorry you had to lose your friend to such a horrible disease.

Swayze putting pen to paper
NEW YORK — A representative for Patrick Swayze says the cancer-stricken actor plans to write a memoir and his wife, Lisa, will collaborate with him on the book.

Publicist Jayme Phillips says plans for the book are “extremely premature. …There’s no publisher. There’s no dates. There’s no anything else.”

Swayze, who has battled pancreatic cancer for the last year, spent a week in the hospital earlier this month after contracting pneumonia. The 56-year-old actor stars in the new A&E drama “The Beast.”

That book I will buy!
