DeDee,
BBM: Motive for what, the RN or JonBenet's death?
Motive for Patsy's anger and jealousy that led to JonBenét's death.
I tend to see Patsy moving on from being an employee to enjoying the fruits of success. She was acting the local patron to various good causes, engaging herself in social advancement, buying the right house, clothes, curtains, jewellry etc.
I'll insert
eileenhawkeye's post from the beginning of this thread:
Patsy also redecorated their vacation home in Charlevoix, on Lake Michigan. "The only time I ever saw John really lose his temper was about Patsy and money," says Marino. "he would throw the credit cards on his desk and say, 'She's gonna spend every last penny I make.' "
Here's another interesting quote:
Although the Ramsey's had been Presbyterians, they joined St. John's Episcopal Church. "Social climbing," says Marino sadly; "she wanted to be where the money was.' <RSBM> ."
Looks to me as if Boulder was where Patsy wished to emulate her own mother and replicate her pageant success via JonBenet. Patsy spoke of her children as projects, she gave up on BR and focussed entirely on JonBenet.
Project is corporate speak for getting things done, outlining an agenda etc, and this is how Patsy viewed raising JonBenet, she was another project, an extension of Patsy's corporate administrative mindset, e.g. Perfect Mother begets Perfect Daughter.
Her friends even spoke of the Mega-JonBenet thing, they knew what was going on, as concerned parents they said they had intended discussing this aspect of JonBenet's lifestyle with Patsy?
And that is what is so sad. With hindsight, we can see the Ramsey house filled with every worldly treasure when the winds of their selfish needs and insatiable greed became hurricane strength, not just the three remaining Ramsey's but an entire community of those who ever had an affiliation with one of the Ramsey's, were blown onto another plane that the world had never seen nor will see again. The clever RN, coupled with a thousand photographs of a lovely and talented little girl, assured that to be a fact.
The quotes above from Jim Marino was one guy who the Ramsey Team put their hands around the throat of. The Ramsey's left victim after victim in their wake. Nedra supplied detectives with over a hundred names including that Tom Carson.
Patsy was spending thousands of dollars on each pageant, Nedra, her daughters, including Don Paugh were regular attendees at JonBenet's pageant appearances, there were overnight stays in hotels etc, no motels for Patsy!
So for the Paugh family pageant time was obviously fun time. Patsy likely rationalized it as simply spending what she had already earned and was her due. For Nedra it would be a vindication that a pageant lifestyle brings results, bigtime!
IMO this is where it all went wrong, i.e. pageants met wealth, and Patsy was attempting to promote the image of a wealthy socialite, mother of a multi-talented daughter.
You are spot on! Patsy's "baby doll" was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The sky was the limit as far as Patsy was concerned and she owned or was entitled to everything in between here and there. God had chosen to save her life! She was healed but only from cancer that would strike again and she knew it. Question was: When would the cancer return? 5yrs was the average life expectancy at that time, in the mid 90's.
The Paugh's immensely enjoyed John Ramsey's wealth. His success, among other fabulous things, entitled them to a permanent income. At least three, maybe more, of the Paugh's were on Access Graphics payroll.
I'll bet most mothers would say having wealth allows you to be less demanding on their children, its a cushion that is absent from less wealthier families, necessitating talent shows, pageants, high school sports for scholarships, etc?
Interesting that you chose that analogy. My daughter earned a full college scholarship in tennis; however, the money spent to get her to that level, including regional and national tournaments, (Yes, in high school, she played in the Jr. Davis Cup!), hours upon hours of private and group lessons, travel expenses, equipment and expenses for outfits would have paid for half the cost of her college tuition's worth. She was not forced to participate. She was an athlete and continues the discipline today; augmented with marathon participation.
When it comes to the RN, its difficult to accept a PDI where Patsy indirectly communicates her involvement to JR by mentioning the demand as equivalent to JR's bonus, thats not staging and its easily demonstrated not to be so, after the fact, by BPD.
Patsy reveals everything to John in the RN. He knew her better than anyone. I think he was more than astonished to be told his daughter was kidnapped, and here, John, read the note.
Its seems more likely there was more than one draft of the RN, and that it was JR's idea to insert the Foreign Faction and the fake abduction of JonBenet, and link this to Access Graphics via the bonus amount. The rest is PR's sense of literary drama, and rhetoric, i.e. Don't grow a brain John, its padding to outline some kind of post-mortem narrative, this is what Patsy excelled at, not JR.
Here is where we may part ways a bit since I do not, ATT, believe John knew about the RN before that morning when he got on his knees in his underwear and read it. The RN is all about John and whatever else, maybe childhood abuse from both parents in some fashion, was troubling Patsy to the point of breaking.
Later JR realized Patsy's narrative was not going to actually stand up, so he prepped Lou Smit on the Intruder theory, and his earlier Foreign Faction morphed into a psychotic pedophile intruder who had a fetish for garottes and binding.
Ya know,
UKGuy, I still haven't figured out why Lou Smit went along with John Ramsey's charade. During their official police interview, Smit tells John his story about the chair does not make sense. John defends his story about the chair blocking the door and the intruder leaving these funny little clues. Smit let's it go! Smit knew John was not making any sense with his story telling of the events and he let John get away with it.
It could still be PDI but I reckon JR assisted PR with some of the staging?
Judging from the physical evidence, the only thing that places John at the CS are the black fibers from his Israeli shirt found in a highly incriminating area on JonBenét's body. From the beginning of my jump from IDI years ago, it was clear to me that Patsy used John's shirt to implicate him just as she used his company, Access Graphics, in the RN.
IMHO, Patsy was the one who left the funny little clues everywhere. She opened the Bible. In fact, I think Patsy read to JonBenét from the Bible. She wiped the flashlight clean. The pineapple on the table was her "set-up". Patsy did not clean any of the poo evidence upstairs nor in the basement.
Patsy marked the dictionary page to the word incest.
Patsy placed the size 12s on JonBenét as a way of saying:
Pay attention down here. This is important stuff.
Patsy knew full well what was inside that blue Samsonite suitcase would incriminate John, especially knowing the book of nude drawings that was involved, but more importantly, the suitcase indicates molestation or incest because of the direct link to the CS by way of fibers.
Patsy knew if she was caught, then she wanted everyone, John, her family, the public, but, mainly, she wanted the police to understand why she did what she did.
For years, I wanted to give JR a pass for the prior sexual abuse, just as ST and evidently Kolar, too. However, the evidence, the clues, that the perp left behind will not let me ignore Patsy indirectly telling us that "John was involved in an incestuous affair with our daughter and I did the rest".
I am also led to believe, from the RN, that Patsy told John to stop but he couldn't help himself. He was in too deep with the MEGA-JonBenét thing.
"Any deviation of my instructions will result in the immediate execution of your daughter"
John, you deviated from my instructions to you to leave our daughter alone. Now look at what you have made me do!
"I advise you not to provoke them."
I told you not to go there, Pal!
"Don't underestimate us, John."
You underestimated me, John. Did you think that killing would be difficult?
