The Judge is not to blame. The Judge is making sure that the proceedings are protected. IF she made her go forth today it could be an issue for later. by giving them the time she is protecting the penalty verdict.

She is doing a GREAT JOB!

Don't agree. She is too overly cautious because she does not have criminal trial experience. A high profile DP trial shouldn't be given to a judge with no criminal trial experience. I have seen other DP trials and seen NOTHING like this. She isn't a bad judge by any means, but her inexperience in this type of law is showing IMO

I agree with the intimidation argument. I wonder why the Defense did not then have them testify in chambers or not on tv and sealed. That would keep their testimony very private.

And whatever the reasons, we err on the side of caution and believe they felt intimidated. So I would understand it being done under seal which would remain so. Then as I understand it, nobody would ever see it.

Even Jodi's last up at bat to talk, at this point, they can go private with the entire end of the trial to help move it along. Then the sentencing can be televised.

I'm a little shocked that she (or they) are allowed to wear those t-shirts. But I supposed it would have required a complaint from Juan to stop it and, really, why bother?

Well, if the jury does not know about the connection of the shirt to Jodi seeing her sister in court wearing one might make jurors believe the sister is wearing it because she "Survived" living with Jodi. Didn't the jury hear testimony from the babysitter that Jodi hit her brother over the head with a baseball bat when they were younger??????

I think someone should have asked her to remove the shirt or leave because it might send the wrong message to the jury. jmo

The wake of devastation that this thing(JA) has left is incomprehensible. I have never seen anything like this in my lifetime of 48 years.

Her art will be hung in a courtroom packed with people who hate her. Not quite the same as having it hung next to Monet, but I guess it'll have to do. :floorlaugh:

Not that it matters but I wonder how many shirts they will be left with. Oops

Can JA decide right now to fire her DT? Could this be part of the strategy. (there has to be one. right? ) That would certainly bring things to a halt for a few days anyway. It looks bad to the jurors all her family being there and no one taking the stand for her.

Who thinks that Jodi did not want this trial televised?? Not me..

There is no way she did not want the world to see this.

I am praying for the Alexanders tomorrow. I think it will be brutal for them.

I have seen judges stop convicted murderers after their statement becomes really offensive or rambling. I'm not confident that JSS would actually step in, though.

Even if you disregard Patti, WHY isn't the defense calling anymore witnesses? I doubt everyone JA knows has been threatened. Why aren't they calling her parents? Maybe because they don't want Juan to bring out the police interogation videos??

Honestly though it's a HUGE mistake for the DT to not call Jodi's mother to the stand. Horrendous mistake. Which makes me think that it's JODI who doesn't want her to testify.

Jumping off of both posts, I can see where the parents could raise problems because they've spoken to Detectives and the defense has argued no family support, family is abusive, etc and they would have to face Juan.

But I don't understand why the siblings don't take the stand. Apparently the sister is sporting the stupid Survivor tshirt and the siblings show up on days that seem convenient for CMJA. It would be quite a manipulative ploy to put up a younger sibling, I would think, trying to garner some sympathy. And I don't think they've gone on the record.

Also if there's any trace of CMJA refusing/denying her mother/family trying to testify on her behalf, that should come into play should she argue that nobody was available to testify in the mitigation phase.

I think she will go back to Estrella and have a "meltdown" sometime between now and tomorrow morning. Possibly even a suicide attempt.

You mean a "suicide attempt" (in quotes IYKWIM)?

I keep getting this strange feeling that Jodi wants to be in court on June 4, that horribly fateful date.

Death penalty on that date would be sweet!

Is there some reason to support ALV's book when she shouldn't be counseling anyone on DV? Out of bounds? I think not. Wouldn't want that woman even near my daughters!!
Amazon is not an appropriate arena for that sort of thing. Amazon is for reviews of books (or other materials) only, not because tons of people watched a trial and deemed that no one should ever read her books so therefore they are going to leave bad reviews on that basis alone.

No Donovan today?

You know, just want to throw this out there...does anybody here think there is a chance that inmate Arias may refuse to give a statement tomorrow? Just a thought...

Maybe...but I'm with Vinnie.

If there is a camera and microphone in the courtroom at 9:30am then Jodi Arias will speak. Even if advised not to by her lawyers

Jodi's been driving this train and will continue to drive it right to the gates of Perryville prisons death row.

Defense's goal was met today. They had no intentions of ever putting Patti on the stand. What defense attorney in their right mind would use PW as a character witness?

did the judge imply that she might unseal some of the hearings based on nurmi's display today???

Seeing Mom and Pop Arias, siblings walk out of court ....I do feel empathy for them. You know they want to save their daughter's life and it is Jodi/DT's tricks keeping them from speaking. Also, doesn't excuse the other behaviors going on. Just feel empathy for their pain they feel.

That said.. Justice for Travis and family/friends. Justice for Napoleon and Pugs everywhere
