If so, did he get treatment for this 'disorder'...did he try to get help to prevent his actions with the boys?

Only the ones with no stars.

Amendola portrayed Sandusky as naïve. He said he asked one of the accusers to be a character witness for him not realizing he was among the accusers.

"He loves kids so much he does things none of us would dream of doing," Amendola said.

by WGAL 11:53 AM

Amendola said a couple of the accusers continued to visit Sandusky after the alleged abuse.

by WGAL 11:52 AM

Amendola talked about the accusers. He said they were cute kids – why would they lie? He pointed out that six have civil lawyers.

by WGAL 11:52 AM

At one point Amendola got emphatic, talking about the fact that no one called police, not Curley, not Schultz, not McQueary. No one called police, Amendola yelled in the courtroom.

by WGAL 11:51 AM

Amendola said they will question a doctor who asked McQueary if he saw sex occurring and that McQueary allegedly said no.

by WGAL 11:50 AM

Amendola said the testimony will be graphic and it will be easy to say 'I've heard enough.' He said the defense does not believe that Mike McQueary is lying when he said he witnessed Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy in the Penn State showers. Amendola said they believe McQueary saw something and made assumptions.

I want to see Spanier go down so badly!

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/06/jerry_sandusky_graham_spanier.html

"According to the NBC report: "Internal e-mails and documents they say show former President Graham Spanier and others discussed whether they needed to tell authorities about a 2001 allegation involving a late-night encounter between a naked Sandusky and a young boy in the Penn State shower room. The sources say documents show Penn State even did legal research on the issue. But in one e-mail exchange, two sources say, Spanier and former vice president Gary Schultz agreed it would be 'humane' to Sandusky not to inform social services and the incident never got reported."

This one just blew my mind:

Amendola portrayed Sandusky as naïve. He said he asked one of the accusers to be a character witness for him not realizing he was among the accusers.

"He loves kids so much he does things none of us would dream of doing," Amendola said.

The defense seemed to indicate that the jury would hear from Jerry Sandusky, meaning he may be called as a witness.

Defense attorney Joe Amendola also told jurors in his opening statement Monday that the three-year investigation into his client indicates how flimsy the prosecution's case is against Sandusky. He also says some of the young men have a financial interest in his case.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/12/s...sandusky-child-sexual-abuse-trial-begins.html

Jerry Sandusky Child Sexual Abuse Trial Begins

.........The jury was told by Judge John M. Cleland that it was to rule on each of the allegations individually and could find Sandusky innocent or guilty of some or all of them.

McGettigan, presumably trying to head off the defense’s strategy of questioning the witnesses’ memory, admitted that some of the witnesses will have trouble recalling specific dates and locations. But he implored the jury of seven women and five men to try to understand what it was like for these witnesses as boys.

To underscore his point, McGettigan then highlighted three words on the overhead projector — humiliation, shame and fear — to justify their long silence between the alleged acts and the time they were reported to the police.

It today's motion, the defense says Sandusky's disorder can also explain some of his other behavior.

Defense says #sandusky 's disorder causes him to constantly seek affection. It's how they intend to counter the alleged love letter evidence

Do you suppose that Dr. Jack Rayovitz gave Jerry this diagnosis? :furious:

Hi everyone  -- is this thread moving over to the Trials forum?

Good recap from Sara:

I'll bet the child remembers.

From your link, thanks:

Dottie Sandusky walked into hotel room during that act, but not into the bathroom, McGettigan said. When Victim 4 hesitated, Sandusky asked him if he wanted to go home, McGettigan said.

That accuser will testify about “Second Mile contracts,” that forced him to spend unsupervised time with Sandusky in exchange for money.

OK, Dottie didn't go into the bathroom but (since it doesn't say) I assume she was there when the 2 of them came out of the bathroom....any wife would wonder what the heck was going on and ask about it....if she didn't, she already knew!

  • #359
They should press charges against Dottie, so maybe she will turn state's witness, and spill the beans. She knew exactly what was going on. imo

The defense says Jerry Sandusky has something called a "histrionic personality disorder." Here's a definition of that disorder from the National Institutes of Health:

Histrionic personality disorder

Histrionic personality disorder is a condition in which people act in a very emotional and dramatic way that draws attention to themselves.

Causes

The cause of this disorder is unknown. Both genes and early childhood events are thought to contribute. It occurs more often in women than in men, although it may be diagnosed more often in women because attention-seeking and sexual forwardness are less socially acceptable for women.

(link has more info on the disorder and a video update...

correction, just a picture of the victim's lawyer talking....)
