Hey, J. J.....2 things:

You said with a possible 20 year sentence JS would be out at age 78...he is 68 now...do you think he would only serve half the sentence?

Also, did you notice that Karen Arnold was listed as a prospective witness (the link was a few pages back)....maybe we'll finally find out what she had to do with the 1998 investigation....hope she does testify....

Probably, he would get parole. I noted one of the priests that plead guilty in Philadelphia church scandal is likely to be out in less than three years.

Yes, and considering there were what was called "extensive disagreements" over the case, and that RFG chose not to prosecute, I don't know why she'd be a defense witness. Also, that jury pool largely believes RFG walked away.

Well, if JS gets any parole I hope he has to register as a sex predator, wear an ankle bracelet and be under the strict supervision of 'Sarge"....lol, that would probably be worse than a cell to him....

He'd have to register and he couldn't be around children.

Seriously? They let a guy onto the jury who kept smiling at Sandusky?

After seeing how violent some of the people into Penn state football could be towards those who spoke out against the corruption and cover-ups of Sandusky's gross and criminal behavior, I have my doubts about the jury's ability to be objective here. "Oh well, a few kids get raped. But we have a great team, right?"

Well, I was off a little about that guy....he is an alternate, thank goodness, not on the jury right now. Here is what was said about him in this summary (I couldn't get the one from before to work, it shut down my computer):

ALTERNATE No. 3

The Penn State alum, in his 50s, has two sons, who are 29 and 30, and said he was familiar with Sandusky before the allegations. The juror walked in and smiled at Sandusky. He read the grand jury report but said he hasn't kept up with recent details. The football fan's wife works with a Penn State program geared toward getting high school students prepared for college. His brother-in-law is a retired corrections officer. The alternate said he could be objective.

It doesn't say what his job is or if he is retired...

Is anyone watching In Session's coverage? I don't have cable anymore-- how are they doing it? (I'm wondering if I should give my mother the heads up if they're any good...)

tia :)

I don't have cable anymore either, so I checked CNN In Session site and found on this page they have a video and twitter, on several trials, one video is about V. 4:

http://insession.blogs.cnn.com/

Then I clicked on a twitter link to read the 'love' letter and came to this site that is updated during the day and has the whole letter and summary of V.4's testimony, very detailed and graphic:

http://www.hlntv.com/article/2012/06/11/sandusky-trial-begins

They put that letter up on a screen for the jury to see.

The letter reads:

"I know that I have made my share of mistakes. However, I hope that I will be able to say that I cared. There has been love in my heart.

My wish is that you care and that you have love in your heart. Love never ends. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I believe that it can overcome all things.

Love Jerry"

So, going by this I'd say their coverage is pretty good.

What a creepy 'love' letter. I guess he has to tell himself it was 'love in his heart' when he was lathering up and getting ready to stick his member into a child's mouth. What a <modsnip>

On PCNC news it was announced that organized support groups of adults that were sexually abused as children are taking buses to Bellefonte to show their support for the victims. A man from a support group in NY was interviewed tonight. If it is posted in print, I'll post it here. May God bless them.

This guy didn't start raping boys in 1977, when he started Second Mile. I bet he has victims out there in their 40's and 50's, like that Father Geoghan out in Mass. <modsnip>.

Just happened to find this link and quote from victim 4:

Eventually, as the man got older and acquired a girlfriend, he became "basically sick of what was happening to me" and distanced himself from Sandusky. They had not spoken since 2002 when, in 2010, he took his girlfriend and 3-year-old son to visit the Sanduskys in what he said was an attempt to convince his girlfriend her suspicions about Sandusky were not true.

He said that "backfired" when Sandusky gave him a lot of attention and tried to rub his shoulders.

Now think about it...this boy is now a man with his GF and SON present, but JS still tries to groom and woo him....that is obsession and compulsion...I hope it impressed and repelled the jurors like it does me.

Wonder if Dottie was there or did she manage to 'not see' that episode too?

Jerry Sandusky trials first witness confidently testifies about repeated sexual molestation

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf-...on-trial-victim-1-credible-joe-amendola-.html

BELLEFONTE, Pa. – It was late on a long, hot day inside the Centre County Courthouse, and Jerry Sandusky's defense against sexual molestation charges already had been rocked by powerful, personal testimony of an indomitable witness...........

"He treated me like a son in front of other people," the witness said, sternly, with an air of scolding toward the defense attorney.

"Aside from that, he treated me like his girlfriend."

As gasps were audibly heard in the courtroom for a line straight off a movie script, Amendola paused, shuffled his notes and kept fumbling as the witness maintained his steely posture.

Unless the defense has a plan to later recall the witness and catch him in multiple lies, there were almost no positives to the day for Sandusky. It was a bludgeoning, as if the witness had been waiting 15 years to rain down these stories on his alleged perpetrator and wasn't going to miss a single opportunity to go for the throat........

He ripped Sandusky for sending him "creepy love letters" – handwritten on Penn State stationery – that Amendola tried to define as attempts by a mentor to keep a potentially wayward soul from going down the wrong path.

The witness instead noted they only started coming when he turned 16 and was strong enough to attempt to end the relationship. It was then, he said, Sandusky panicked and began sending letters and making emotional phone calls, like a heartbroken lover.........

Amendola was a flailing mess by the end. He seemed unprepared for the cross examination, routinely getting dates and facts wrong and leading the witness into retelling the disturbing tales of abuse in the shower room.

USA Today article about Victim One possibly testifying today:

Witness who spurred Sandusky probe could testify Tuesday

The witness, designated in a Pennsylvania grand jury report as "Victim 1," has alleged that Sandusky abused him during a period of four years, starting when the witness was 11 years old.

When the boy's mother became suspicious of Sandusky's alleged behavior, prosecutors have said that she took her son — despite concerns of school officials supportive of Sandusky — to state youth authorities in 2008, prompting the criminal investigation that ultimately resulted in 52 charges against the coach, involving 10 alleged victims during a 15-year period.

The witness's expected appearance follows the detailed testimony Monday of another alleged victim who told jurors that he was forced into about 50 sexual encounters by Sandusky during the course of five years, beginning when he was about 12 years old.

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/06/jerry_sandusky_trial_accuser_t.html

Here's a little information about "Victim 4" who denied the abuse initially when investigators approached him:

"By the time he was an adult, he said, it was a regular joke among his friends and family he was molested by Sandusky and had some kind of inappropriate relationship with him. He ademently denied it, he said.

Once, he tried to hint something to his mother, but she accused him of being a liar, he said."

This entire case makes me sad, but when I read these things a little piece of my heart breaks. I know it happens EVERY DAY (parents not standing up for their kids) and I'll never understand it.

Ah details of the cover-up emerge...............................

Ex-PSU president Spanier's emails on Sandusky surface
June 12, 2012 5:59 am

Former Penn State University president Graham Spanier in 2003

By Moriah Balingit / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
A report Monday of email exchanges among high-ranking Penn State University officials discussing allegations of child molestation and deciding not to tell outside authorities could lead to charges against Graham Spanier, who resigned as the university's president in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Former FBI director Louis Freeh, whose team of investigators was tapped by a special university committee after Mr. Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant football coach, was charged with multiple counts of child sex abuse, said in a statement that he has turned the emails over to the state attorney general's office, "consistent with the investigation's prior commitment to share certain information."

Mr. Freeh's statement was issued in response to the report by NBC, citing law enforcement sources, that Mr. Spanier; Tim Curley, who is on administrative leave as Penn State's athletic director; and Gary Schultz, the former senior vice president for finance and business, exchanged emails discussing whether to tell authorities about an encounter between Mr. Sandusky and a young boy in a locker room shower witnessed by Mike McQueary, then a graduate assistant for the football team.

Previously, Mr. McQueary testified to a grand jury that he saw the boy in the shower naked with Mr. Sandusky after he went into the locker room to retrieve his shoes. Mr. McQueary testified that he believed Mr. Sandusky was molesting the boy and "having some type of sexual intercourse with him."

He said he relayed what he saw to then head coach Joe Paterno, Mr. Curley and Mr. Schultz. The two administrators then relayed the report to Mr. Spanier, who said it was described to him as "horsing around" and not something sexual.

In the exchange, NBC said the three weighed whether to tell local authorities what Mr. McQueary had said, though it's still not clear if Mr. Spanier knew the full extent of what the graduate assistant said he witnessed.

Additionally, NBC reported that internal documents reveal that legal research was done to determine whether the university officials were required to report the incident. In the end, Mr. Spanier and Mr. Schultz concluded it would be "humane" to Mr. Sandusky not to relay Mr. McQueary's report to local authorities, according to NBC.

I've said repeatedly the Prosecution didn't have to worry too much about getting a conviction. Sandusky and his lawyer would take care of that for them.

Sandusky's attorney Joe Amendola kept grasping at straws, kept seeking angles to prop up his client as a kind-hearted guy who was the victim of overaggressive police and money-hungry accusers.

So he tried to take the words of the trial's first witness, known as Victim No. 4 in court documents, and spin them around.

Amendola was a flailing mess by the end. He seemed unprepared for the cross examination, routinely getting dates and facts wrong and leading the witness into retelling the disturbing tales of abuse in the shower room.

On Monday, Amendola kept opening doors that blew up on him, violating a cardinal rule of cross examination, which is not to ask a question you don't know the answer to.

I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before.
