To me, the biggest question is why did Curley wait TEN DAYS to meet with MM after he learned of an incident in the shower? And what did MM tell Curley and Schultz at that meeting? Since Curley and Schultz are charged with perjury, I guess the grand jury found MM more credible.
------------------------------------------------------------------
From Sara's Nov. 11 article about missed chances, McCreary said he witnessed the 2002 'incident' on the Friday night before spring break.
"It was about 9:30 at night on a Friday before spring break. McQueary testified that he came to the football building in order to drop off a pair of new sneakers and pick up recruiting tapes. Instead, he testified that he walked in on Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy, estimated to be about 10 years old, in the shower."

Was spring break was a school week long?
Did McCreary leave town during that week? Curley? Schultz?
Or JoePa, after McC talked to him, on the week-end IIRC.
Could be one or more of the people to be involved in the dialog or meeting was away from campus/traveling/out of touch for that week.

Possibly gone, wk-end plus spg-brk wk, plus wk-end 2 = 10-11 days.

That could explain a TEN DAY delay in meeting.

It's a possible explanation; neverthless, the delay was totally unacceptable. Beyond the moral deficiency of such a slow response, it was also a violation of university protocol.(http://studentaffairs.psu.edu/womenscenter/pdf/protocol.pdf) The police should have been notified immediately.

Can we revisit the Juniata case where this pushy "man" gets denied a coaching job and then still attends games?
Alright so he goes to games. Next thing ya know he's up in the press box?

For real that's the behavior that had him abusing boys all those years. This dude has no conscience and thinks he is above the football gods even.

We already had the link but reposted another.

This athletic director did what everyone else should have done by basically telling him IMO to "get out". Can we even imagine what that did to his ego and his pervy mind?

Yep. Darlene's pedophile husband wasn't raping and molesting little boys anywhere near her home and the first time Darlene's husband was busted, he was sent to jail. The first TWO times Sandusky's rapes/molestations were investigated/discovered, he wasn't sent to jail, but continued to live with Sarge. Sandusky had to explain to Sarge why the police were investigating him in 1998, so she had evidence for years. Darlene's excuse of "not knowing" is not an excuse that Sarge will ever be able to effectively use. Phew.

Right? Don't get me started on that DE. Last night I spent some time reading that woman's "stuff". Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I saw absolutely no remorse for the children her husband raped. It was all about how her own children were devastated. Hey, I get that, but those poor kids her old man attacked and trolled on beaches were someone's kids too. Albeit they were kids who weren't afforded the luxuries her own had, but they are kids all the same. Nope. All about how her world crashed.

Exactly. Nowhere near the same. This nutter was bringing kids into his/her home. Like, ummmmmmmm ya got a kid in the basement uhhhhhhh and ya bought him food down there uhhhhhhhhhhh when do you say "Listen Jer that don't look right. What in the blast is going on here?"

Thanks for posting that info. Spring break is an entire week (this year it is March 4-10) and he could have been at the beach like many exhausted with the snow. One would assume this would be the first thing on his agenda when he returned unless he wasn't told of the urgency. ??

Off topic: Public schools in upstate NY have a two week Spring break for the mental health of those tired of 120 inches of snow. :)

Yeah, she is advertising her book (phew) by trying to make a strong correlation between her experience and Sarge's, but there is only one similarity. I hope her book includes strong advice about identifying pedophiles and calling the police.

Well.....Jerry needs a quarter of a million dollars to get out of jail right now. Who do you suppose has that kind of cash available AND is willing to seriously risk losing it???

If I'm not mistaken, a cash bond can be refunded regardless of whether the defendant is found guilty or innocent as long as conditions of the bond have been met. However, if defendant is found guilty of the charges the court can, at it's choosing, deduct imposed fines from the cash bond. If Sandusky is found guilty on most of the charges against him, the fines will likely eat up all of that $250,000 bond and then some.

Here's a list of the charges and associated fines for the first 40 charges:

  • Seven counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, all first-degree felonies which are each punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
  • One count of aggravated indecent assault, a second-degree felony punishable by up to ten years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
  • Four counts of unlawful contact with a minor, all first-degree felonies which are each punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
  • Four counts of unlawful contact with a minor, all third-degree felonies which are each punishable by up to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
  • Four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all third-degree felonies which are each punishable by up to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
  • Four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all first-degree misdemeanors which are each punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
  • Eight counts of corruption of minors, all first-degree misdemeanors which are each punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
  • One count of indecent assault, a third-degree felony punishable by up to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
  • Four counts of indecent assault, all second-degree misdemeanors which are each punishable by up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
  • Two counts of indecent assault, all first-degree misdemeanors which are each punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
  • One count of attempt to commit indecent assault, a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
And this is the list for the 12 charges filed today:

  • Sandusky is charged with four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, all first-degree felonies which are each punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $25,000 fines.
  • Additionally, he is charged with one count of indecent assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of children, all third-degree felonies which are each punishable by up to seven years in prison and $15,000 fines.
  • Sandusky is also charged with one count of indecent assault and two counts of corruption of minors, all first-degree misdemeanors each punishable by up to five years in prison and $10,000 fines.

Those new charges could add up to 156 years on top of 373 years. That adds up to 529 years in prison.

From yesterday:

Sara Ganim

Prosecutor says victim 9 is most recent victim and Judge sets #sandusky bail at $250,000 cash

https://twitter.com/#!/sganim

I guess cash doesn't really mean cash if you're a child rapist in happy lil ole Happy Valley, PA:

Sandusky secured his release using $200,000 in real estate holdings and a $50,000 certified check provided by his wife, Dorothy, according to online court records.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7330420/jerry-sandusky-posts-bail-latest-sex-abuse

After his "I'm good for it" $100,000 bond, they've let this rapist waltz right back out the door after securing a $250,000.00 bond with a $50K cashier's check and some type of holdings in today's depressed real estate economy.

$350,000.00 in total bonds and all the county's holding is a $50K check and a couple of promises.

Kinda gives you a warm fuzzy feelin all over, doesn't it?

There was no 10 day delay in the reporting. The whole story of the reporting was a sham and I am sure it will all come out in trial and the trials for the lawsuits.

The sham started when McQueary waited a day to report to Paterno.

No matter what it said on paper, Paterno was higher in the chain of command then Curley or Shultz. They reported to him at his house to hear the story. Underlings do not summon higher ups to their personal homes to report on school business. That is not how it works and it is utter nonsense for them to expect a jury to believe that.

As soon as McQueary told Paterno the story the reporting was done and the coverup began. End of story.

Wonder just how much Sandusky's house is worth with the news reporting constantly about the "Basement of Horrors".:waitasec:

Whatever reason they had for delaying - snow weary vacations or whatever - the point is that a child had been raped and might need medical attention or SOME kind of attention. My God! How did anyone go sit on a beach or whatever?

ETA: Think of how many vacations, cruises, whatever, these men took over the past ten years while the victims suffered. It really boggles the mind.

Of course these guys were able to go on with their lives for years knowing what they knew about Sandusky. Were they losing sleep over it? Doesn't seem that they were. I bet they are now, though. Karma is a bi***.

I agree with you. Nobody could wait a day or 10 days to find out that childs condition. It did not happen IMO.

I believe as soon as McQueary reported it to Paterno, Paterno got on the phone to Sandusky and told him to take care of the problem one way or the other. A day later Sandusky reports back he took care of the problem. I imagine money was paid to the family through the Second Mile.

Paterno calls and tells Shultz and Curley to come to his house and he tells them how they are going to handle it and what to say to McQueary and the President.

All IMO.

I think this makes sense:

McQueary told Paterno. Paterno called Spanier. Being a male, Paterno likely called Sandusky and cursed him for dirtying his "house" with his sicko behavior and Sandusky said the incident never happened. Paterno knew Sandusky was lying. He also called Curley to tell Curley that Sandusky had to be banned from the athletic facility.

After being notified, Spanier HAD to involve Shultz because Shultz had been the university's financial guru for decades. Shultz had great knowledge of the university's and trustees' liability policies especially if they are self funded. It was also convenient that the financial guru (risk management) was head of the campus police department.

Shultz was assigned to call Raykovitz at The Second Mile and Curley was assigned to call Sandusky to tell him he was banned.

After all this had occurred, then Curley and Spanier met with McQueary.

It is not logical that Sandusky would have given anyone the real name of his rape victim under any circumstance. If Sandusky gave a boy's name to Curley, it was not the actual rape victim's name.

It's good to see people thinking about the medical concerns.

This is the man McQueary immediately called, his father, John.
http://pa.mc.duke.edu/Hall-of-Fame/Inductees/John-McQueary/

John McQueary is a graduate of North Carolina Central University (BA, Education Administration), Durham, NC and Duke University Physician Assistant Program, Durham, NC. Mr. McQueary served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963 and began his medical career in the Navy’s Hospital Corps School and independent duty school. He was deployed with the amphibious fleet out of Little Creek, Virginia and served as a medical corpsman with naval special warfare operations. He was among the first graduates of the Duke University Physician Assistant Program and following graduation in April 1968 continued on the faculty and in administrative roles with the Program. Since 1981, he has served as the Chief Operating Officer and Administrative Director of Centre Medical and Surgical Associates, P.C., a large multi-specialty group practice in State College, Pennsylvania.

Somewhere I've read that the company he works for is a large donor to Penn State.

So, Mike could have thought he was calling someone who would give medical advice. Instead, did John brush that concern off? He of all people should know the harm that kid experienced.

I'd love to see John under subpoena- the only person I might want to see Amadola attacking.
