A regular Matlock, this Rominger. It's official now: Sandusky's attorneys have adopted the simpleton defense. Jerry is too dumb to know what he's saying. Too dumb to know he shouldn't shower naked with young boys. Can you imagine the trial? Rominger would be beating up his own client. Hard to think the case will make it that far.

OMG Doc!! I can see Amendola pulling a Baez on opening statements!! Will they decide to trash JS's dead parents? :waitasec: Something like- There's something wrong with my client, there's something not right here because-
"What makes this case unique is the family that it happened to. You will hear stories about a family that is incredibly dysfunctional, you will hear about ugly things, secret things, things that people don't speak about," JB

I was driving down the street, listening to KFI radio, and almost drove off the road after hearing that new lawyers statement that "some delinquent 12 yr olds need help learning to soap their bodies." I thought for a moment I was listening to Saturday Night Live.

They don't have to but they are sure doing it!

I keep asking myself why are they putting the noose around his neck.

Because the University and TSM's work need distance between their interests and Sandusky. Someone there may be paying for his "defense" with stipulations about public relations and the institution's image. Possible.

I find it interesting that Paterno is so safely in the shadows-- and mum, after the announcements of his physical difficulties, of course. He's back on the sympathy rolls for many, I'm sure. Another thing this waiving of the pre-trial did was keep Paterno out of it for a few more months. Heck, he could be dead by the time things heat up again (and I hate to say it, but wouldn't that be convenient for Penn State?).

His attorney has already hinted that there is something not right with Sandusky, so you know their excuse is being developed. I think "Jerry had head trauma when he was a defensive football player" will be their excuse/defense, but the first thing a psychiatrist called to the stand will tell the jury is that Jerry's child-like behavior is textbook fixated pedophile.

I hope Freeh uncovers all the connections to what I believe is a phony charity called the Second Mile and Penn State.

I hope he uncovers why Second Mile decided at some point to quit the foster care business and all the state and federal grants that would have pulled in.

I hope he finds out why the State of Penn. Welfare department found nothing wrong with Jerry showering with two different boys and why they let it continue.

I hope a lot of things. All IMO

After Amendola didn’t get enough time to cement his idiocy, he then went on a media tour yesterday hitting up the always polite Ann Curry of the Today Show.

Except during Ann’s interview, she looks on pathetically to Amendola and asks him straight up if he has “done his homework” and the doozy “are you competent enough to defend your client?"

Ann doesn’t insult guests too often and is always professional, but it certainly was called for when you see what Amendola has done so far to “protect” his client.

Or, Amendola could be a Saint and secretly is pretending to be a moron just so he all but guarantees Sandusky’s lifelong sentence far away from innocent children.

PA’s Backward Expert-Witness Law Creates Advantage for Jerry Sandusky

Though the grand jury report outlining allegations that former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky routinely raped young boys entrusted in his care is damning, when it comes to the trial, Sandusky and his lawyer Joe Amendola have a few home-court advantages here in Pennsylvania.

For one thing, thanks to a bizarre statement buried in standard jury instruction, the trial judge will instruct jurors to factor in how quickly the alleged victims reported the abuse to authorities while gauging the veracity of their claims.

From Section 4.13A of the standard Pennsylvania juror instruction, titled “Failure to Make Prompt Complaint in Certain Sexual Offenses”: “The evidence of [name of victim]’s [failure to complain] [delay in making a complaint] does not necessarily make [his] [her] testimony unreliable, but may remove from it the assurance of reliability accompanying the prompt complaint or outcry that the victim of a crime such as this would ordinarily be expected to make.”

This “prompt complaint” instruction is included despite the fact that there is no proven correlation between delay in reporting assault and an alleged victim’s likelihood to tell the truth. In fact, it is common for a sexual assault victim to not report an assault right away, especially if perpetrated by a trusted authority figure—as is the case with Sandusky, who founded the Second Mile, a charity for at-risk youth.

Pennsylvania jurors are not instructed to weigh promptness of contacting authorities in cases of any other kinds of physical assault, or any other crime for that matter.

The Sandusky defense could also take advantage of the fact that Pennsylvania prohibits expert testimony in sexual-assault cases.

I believe his lawyers know they have to do some admitting that Jer is a peadophile or at the very least has those tendencies which he fought:banghead: to overcome since his victims are many and will speak loud and clear.
I think the best Jer's lawyers can hope for is that he gets the lightest sentence possible and they can comfortably tuck him away somewhere (ala KC Anthony) so he can receive "counseling and rehab" for his own illness and PSTD from his past!:furious:
I'm sure they are looking down the road at the civil cases coming and making plans that Jer is seen as a "victim" also!! O God - where have I heard that before?:banghead:

So if Jerry is mentally just a little boy what does that make his wife?

Jerry’s attorney recently mentioned that Jerry had some type of early trauma and that was why he acted like a kid (football helmets were not padded decades ago to prevent concussions/traumatic brain injuries). I think they will try to capitalize on traumatic brain injury theories to excuse his immaturity and lack of judgement about showering with boys, wrestling with boys, and his constant desire to associate with children. Because some of the boys knew and called each other, the defense will spin their allegations as collusion to obtain money from Sandusky.

The drill sergeant (Sarge) who acted as his mommy. Their marriage was likely asexual.

You don't have those problems with Victims 1, 6, and possibly 9 and 10.

I hope these victims or the lawyers get out and tell the world just what it really was that Sandusky was cleaning off these boys. He was cleaning off DNA of his period.

They need to get out there and say well it never bothered Sandusky when he was performing oral and anal sex on them.

"Some of these kids don't have basic hygiene skills," attorney Karl Rominger, who recently joined Sandusky's defense team, told Harrisburg's abc27 News Tuesday. "Teaching a person to shower at the age of 12 or 14 sounds strange to some people, but people who work with troubled youth will tell you there are a lot of juvenile delinquents and people who are dependent who have to be taught basic life skills, like how to put soap on their body."

I've been so mad reading this **** these Idiots for Lawyers have now been putting out....re-victimizing the victims....low, low blow to not only the children but their parents...most of these kids had parents (mothers at least) at home..they did not come out of the jungle after living with wolves....geez and jebus!!!

Yes, I've seen this at times but with 3-4 year old children who had been neglected and living in filth and didn't know better.

And IF this were even remotely true of a young child, you don't GET IN THE SHOWER WITH THEM TO TEACH THEM....you can tell them. How disgusting that this is the best they can come up with to excuse what JS has done.

Notice all they are talking about is the showering, no mention of the sex attacks...what was he trying to teach the kids with that...how to win friends and influence people?

What Jerry and his asinine lawyers forget is that 10 years old is when some kids (male and female) start puberty, and therefore that is the time when most kids get very private and shy about their bodies and don't want anyone to see them naked or in the shower.

So what they are describing is truly abnormal behavior for an adult, especially one totally unconnected to the family. Plus he was old enough to be their grandfather! How many grandfathers shower with the kids? Usually that would be NONE.

Exactly!

Can you imagine how these boys felt about JS's invasion into their private shower, and the horror they experienced when he 'touched' them?

<<<shiver>>>

How I do hope that this type of putdown and lies by JS Inc. enrages the victims and makes them more determined that ever to testify and not let this entity hide behind the mask he has worn for so long...

No, I can't imagine! It makes me sick!

My own kids were very shy at that age, and if someone accidentally walked into the bathroom there would have been some shouting and slamming of doors, believe me!

I have known mothers who have showered with toddlers or little girls - just mothers, though. But I never did that with my daughter. Beyond the toddler years, most human beings leave their kids alone.

Glad that, having grown up in a sports environment, it didn't include showering with coaches. (Shudder.)
