This is all I've seen on twitter about JS and Dottie...where did the info about them being in chambers come from? Is there a link?

Jerry #Sandusky, and his wife Dottie, leave the courthouse Friday, June 22, 2012, just before noon. p.twimg.com

It came from Vinnie Politan's Twitter, but I don't know his source and I didn't have the TV turned on.

I would love to know how to do this!!!! Anyone? Please? :please:

I get email alerts from WPXI.com a Pittsburgh station - go to their website and see if you can get a text alert and if not that at least an email alert.

I got one telling me that Dottie was on the stand, JS didn't take the stand and the jury was in deliberations. Hope this helps.

CNN Breaking News

A Philadelphia jury has convicted Monsignor William Lynn of one count of endangering the welfare of a child and acquitted him on two others.
The jury said it cannot reach a decision on either of the charges against a second cleric, the Rev. James Brennan.

I have no wine this afternoon but I am refreshing this page and CNN like a monkey on crack.
I wonder if the jury is focused on the McQueary testimony because they were already able to reach verdicts (guilty, of course!) on the counts relating to the other victims and is hung up on the counts for victim 2 since he has never been identified. I hope that they will ultimately decide on justice for victim 2: I have grave fears for his well-being. :(

I love it! Did anyone else notice when she was supposed to be covering the prosecutions closing arguments and she came out and was asked what the best points were she replied it was the victims sitting in the front row and nothing about what the DA said? They had to come back to her later and ask again for the DAs close.

"Jenkasauraus" is FOS, and I have never paid any attention to her!

The jury has been deliberating for 14 hours now ... per the "deliberation clock" on IS ...

Oh ... to be a 'fly on the wall' in there ...

Oh, it just occurred to me-- would the unidentified "Tim" Jerry reference as "we" in his love letters to Victim #4, be Tim Curley???

eta: Letter #1

Letter 1

[Victim 4],

Once again, I have decided to write some of my thoughts. I write because you mean so much to us. I write because I am concerned about all of us. I write because I am concerned about all of us. I write because I have seen the hurt on Tim’s face when you don’t show for him, even though you have given your word. I write because of the churning in my own stomach when you don’t care. I write because I still hope that there will be meaning to the time we have known each other.

Tim and I have seen this before, had similar experiences, and to be honest not very happy conclusions. You like to express yourself in a straightforward manner. This will be a very direct message from us.

When seen to be a conveniences. When it is inconvenient or a better deal comes along you leave a trial of broken promises. Communicate seem to be meaningless.

You are able to connect from person to person to person, object to object. You seek happiness through control, domination, and what satisfies the moment. You have to hit the home run, swing for the fence. You don’t understand or care not to worry about loyalty, commitment or caring. The ____so to get what you want regardless of others.

On the surface this may appear to work for you. People enjoy your youthfulness. Different people show up to give you temporary fulfillment.

We could be wrong but doesn’t believe this is how it works..

You will get older. People will expect more. Your youthfulness will disappear. If you cannot care, you will not be able to live up to the expectations. Your so-=called “best friends” will vanish. Happiness will escape your life.

You might want to stop and think about time happiness. It seems to come more often when your don’t try so hard, look to just get a simple reach out to others, lose yourself, become satisfied with … simple people who care.

It’s your life! You can continue as you have, keep looking for happiness’s or you can find it. We’d love to be a part of your life, but that’s your choice.

We’ve been here, made it through some challenges. Went to always be there for you!

With some help and a lot of caring we are:

Jer and Tim [There was no discussion in the trial of who Tim is]

It makes it far more difficult when the foreman is dead set against anything but a full acquittal and who quickly became the leader of the group well before they ever deliberated. What I'm trying to say is that when a group has been sequestered for long periods of time together they form a group think. The jurors who wanted to hold out knew the foreman would never give in so their only option for getting everyone home and quick was to give in and vote for not guilty.

And all of them really just wanted to be done with the case and almost none of them acted appropriately emotional about the very graphic nature of Caylee's remains. That should have been our clue very early on. They all wanted it over and done with right from the get go. I'm not even sure a videotape of her killing Caylee would have convicted her with that group.

Fortunately it appears this current jury in this case is hard at work. And no matter their verdict it appears that they have put some thought into their verdict. The Anthony jury did not (I would have said the same thing if they had voted her guilty the Anthony jury came back way too early for any verdict)

Actually, groupthink is a phenomenon that happens in more established groups, which is to say groups of more duration than a jury. It's an unwillingness of group members to defy an established leader for fear of being perceived as "disloyal." Think more like advisors to a president or corporate head. Also, any dissenter could count on the rest of the group to call them out for being a trouble-maker. Defiance and resistance is squelched by the entire group. Leaders often also have "gate-keepers" who control access to the leader, thus limiting the amount of information that gets through - especially information that goes against what the leader wants.

A jury is, by design, a group where members are equal. A foreman has little legitimate authority due to the fact that he/she has never led this group before and the jurors didn't know this person beforehand.

What you're saying about group norms leaning toward suppressing deviance from its members is absolutely correct, however. The tendency of any group is to lead its members away from defying set norms. 12 Angry Men is an excellent example of this. Jury foremen typically do not have a lot of power, since successful leadership requires loyal followership. That doesn't mean there wouldn't be intense pressure on a lone hold-out. There most definitely would.

Forgive me for the lengthy explanation - this is my field and sometimes I get a little long-winded about these things. :)

I get Google alerts through my Gmail account, but you might be able to use other emails and just make a Google account instead.

Then create a "news alert" on google.

http://www.google.com/alerts

How to sign up:
http://support.google.com/alerts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=71057#q3

You can choose once a day alerts so you get a bunch at once, or "as it happens."

As far as text alerts for the phone, I'm not sure, but if you can check your email on your phone, then you can get a text alert from gmail.

I subscribe to email alerts from a local TV station - WDIV, Channel 4, Detroit. Subscribers can select which emails they want to receive from a list that includes: all breaking news (local, national, international), weather alerts, entertainment updates, sports, etc. I frequently receive email alerts for a breaking news story before I see it on TV or internet homepage (Comcast).

*snipped for length*

I think the Penn State "culture of silence" will be studied someday as the textbook definition of Groupthink. ;) I've been fascinated with that topic since studying sociology in college.

No one wanted to do anything about Gerry, who was seen as part of the university "in-group." McQueary tried to be the Devil's Advocate, but somehow he got reabsorbed into the coaches group, and then he didn't rock the boat anymore so he could keep his job until forced to testify before the Grand Jury. No one wanted to cross Paterno either, although he tried to distance himself from Gerry, even while letting him have the run of the place.

Thanks for the answers about the 'JS in chambers' question...I've been trying to thank a bunch of people but it doesn't work all the time, and with 121 people on the thread it takes sooooooooo long to refresh....lol

I thought I was having trouble with my puter until I noticed that!
