Last night after the verdict, there were people who expressed dismay that the Jury didn't convict on every single charge.

But Sara Ganim made the point last night that if we look at it in terms of victims, the Jury convicted on some charges for every victim, even though they tossed some out.
http://video-embed.pennlive.com/ser...AAAAQBxUw0E~,DELAM66vw4ytHzgLe6gL8tgddwTWDoX7

She said: "A couple of the counts involved victim number 2, the Mike McQueary incident in the shower. However, there was one count that was acquitted in that case. There was also one count of a "not guilty" in the case from 1998 where a boy went to the Penn State police and said he was molested in a shower. However, on both of those cases it's important to say that Jerry Sandusky was convicted of some things and also acquitted of one thing in each case.

So no victim's testimony was completely dismissed, just some charges dropped that the Jury felt weren't proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

In the case of Victim 6, there was a misdemeanor "Indecent Assault" charge. That was the sole charge he was acquitted on regarding Victim 6; he was convicted of the felonies.

The problem was that the prosecution had to show “the purpose of arousing sexual desire in the person or the complainant.” Victim 6 couldn't determine that.

It is explained here: http://www.centredaily.com/2011/11/19/2992124/speculative-reasons.html#storylink=cpy

I don't take a lot of comfort in this, but I said it on 11/19/11.

Had there been a conviction of the felonies in 1998-9, Sandusky would have been on Meagan's List. Oh, God!

The title of the article says Penn State open to resolving claims by Sandusky victims.

I bet they are. Freeh's report isnt even out yet.

thats BIG of them....if it was me I would NEVER settle with them. I would get the slickest big time lawyer I could find and I would settle in for the long fight. i truly hope the survivors do not settle. although for their own piece of mind they may want to, and i defer to that. penn state will try and take advantage of that as well. they know the survivors dont relish the thought of another trial and court appearance, still, they should think about enduring it..penn state will offer pennies on the dollar of their full liability and the survivors should receive large amounts of whatever restitution the law allows for penn states institutuional harbouring and protection and SUPPORT of a known child molester. the cathlolic church has paid. its penn states turn. make them pay.

FOR GOD SAKES they knew he was a child molester and they allowed him to continue to use their prestige, facilities and gravitas to lure and abuse his victims.....make them pay.

thankfully JJ your prediction about the time the convicted child rapist will spend in jail is way off what the IS profesionals are predicitng, and all the other TV people I saw last night. Noone thinks he will see the light of day again,:

I'd still suspect a 20 year sentence and that, if he lives that long, for him be home celebrating his 80th birthday. Maybe Judge Cleland will do a few consecutive.

There is another question. Sandusky has very little left to lose; will he flip on the people at Penn State or elsewhere.

I said the same thing to my daughter last night. While Jerry may be locked up, he can still negotiate to get his way on some things in jail by trying to get a deal to flip on Spanier and the rest of them.

Or he might let something slip about Ray Gricar, if he knows something. Surely Jer is smart enough to realize he has nothing to lose at this point by talking.

Dunno J.J. in order for Jer to flip he would have to admit. Maybe in his delusional mind he is hanging in there for his appeals. Likely thinks he will get out. I hope he gets 100's of years just to make a point.

Sandusky is 68 and they say he was charged and thank God found guilty of abusing children for the last 15 years. I THINK he must have been doing this much longer. I do not think he started in his 50s. Sad that he was NOT stopped much earlier. He should have been in prison a long time ago. He has 5 adopted sons and 1 daughter. Besides Matt I wonder if the others will come forward with some information. What a dirtbag JS is.

Most people get out of denial after they've been in jail a few months. There's still time for him to flip.

I would sure like to know more about Ray Gricar. I hope if he knows anything he does talk.

i suspect you are way off, but we'll see.

for him to flip he would have to face up. imo thats not going to happen. imagine what he has just undergone in order to maintain the facade. and aqll the time he sat there and grinned, even during, especially during the states closing when he sat there and grinned at THE JURY. and the mother teresa thing...the forgivness of a saint that he offered for our consideration. what denial and massive misunderstandings lurk behind that jackal facade.

he never cops to anything, so he cant flip, imo.

I am so MAD at our justice system. After the jury did THEIR job of convicting this monster, the prison system feels that the monster should remain in protective custody for the rest of HIS life. How ridiculous is that? They claim it will be hell for him. NO -hell is what the victims have lived in since this MONSTER laid his hands on them....

Like many other monsters we as a society feel the need to protect them, after they abuse and kill our children....

Sandusky Lawyer per HLN-Jer said his goodbye's prior to the Verdict read. Said good bye to his dogs too :floorlaugh: He and his Family prayed together. Jer has a sleep apnea machine and has to sleep sitting up. Lawyer is afraid they wont allow it in the jail. Dear Gawd :banghead:

I wish I could think of a more polite way to say what's going through my mind, but I can't, so here it is:
Hopefully by now, Sandusky has had all of his street clothes and personal belongings stripped away. I hope he's in prison garb, stuck away in a cell after having experienced a very thorough body cavity search, the first of many to come.

id agree with this scept he might just enjoy those.....but i really hope the jailers who will be dealing with him forego their normal demeanor and professionalism and express the outrage of the community, since little jer isnt going to be available to any but them...if he EVER comes off that pink cloud that enabled him to grin like a jackal throughout his trial, he will probably try to off himself....i would hope for a botched try.

then sagain his denial will probably carry him thru to the end.

This is one time I hope you are wrong, JJ. I do think this monster is going to start singing like a songbird, so those who are in power now, or have been in power in PA. better be prepared.
I think that he may also know exactly what happened to Mr. Gricar. I believe it is NOW the time for investigators to start looking at this case again. Remember the psychic lady-who claimed he was in a building with men-and they killed him? I once thought she was crazy-now she might just be spot on.

On hln they were just saying.. that he will after sentencing et all. He would then be sent to a prison that is just for sex abusers.. can you imagine the evil in that place..

whats the speculation about Gricar? the street versions?

Lot of speculation; no evidence.

When the indictment broke, I actually had someone who had know him asking if he had been paid off. The actual evidence, at least so far, is against it. Not a lack of evidence, but a little bit of evidence against it.

Then there is the group that says he found something new and got murdered by someone involved. LE has said that he wasn't doing anything with Sandusky when he disappeared.

There is something strange. In 1998, the DA's Office had an ADA that handled abuse cases, Arnold. She was involved initially, but Gricar took the case away from her; it was characterized in some of the court filings as "extensive disagreements" over the handling of the case.

There was a meeting between Gricar, the two officers involved (from different departments), another ADA, and Assistant Coach Fran Ganther, in the football building on 10/13/98, but know one seems to be saying what it was about.

Hi WS Friends! Haven't had time to read the threads. But I have two thoughts off the top of my head :)

- as a sexual abuse survivor, I would NEVER want to face my abuser. Haven't seen him in years; but heard he was still alive and well back in my hometown. It would terrify me to see him, but if I had to see him, i would want it in a courtroom so he could pay. But, I would be sooooooo scared 35+ years later!

- Back in the days when I suffered the abuse, kids had no rights. Nobody believed a kid. Thank GOD that is changing.

Thanks for reading.

THANK GOD JUSTICE IS SERVED FOR JS' VICTIMS.
