None of them had a clue what compassionate, humane or doing the right thing meant.

While your statement is certainly true back2back, these men did do what was right. What was right for them to continue their jobs, that is. By 2002, they had plenty to cover up if there is truth to Jerry's sexual abuse of young boys being known or suspected way back in the 1990s.

I can only figure one core reason any of them in the know about Jerry would want to abandon plans to report Jerry's behavior to authorities. And that would be, in my opinion, to protect themselves, their jobs with a large University; the football program reputation; their own lifestyles and future. Either they decided this on their own or orders came from someone else who had enough pull to point out their fate if they went with plan A.

There are just so many way this cover-up can be twisted or attempted to be explained.

I do believe that after the report is released, there will be a great number of people who will point to Curly and Schultz and say that since the Coach is gone and can't tell his side, these two men are now putting the blame on JoePa.

I think we are all on the doorstep of some explosive finger pointing, wild rumors, and plenty of heated arguments to keep the halo above Coach Joe's head, once the investigative report is made public. Fasten your seat belts, as Bette Davis said, we are in for a bumpy ride.

Whoa....

According to college football talk, McQueary was not interviewed by the Freeh Group. How is that possible????

Probly didn't want to waste their time, they know all he does is LIE,LIE, LIE-

jmo :seeya:

wishes it was already nine o'clock!!

Anyone able to read the Freeh Report? I get an error at the site.

Same for me. Isn't it interesting that the Paterno family is releasing a letter from Joe Paterno at this stage of the game?

He (Joe) can say anything at all and conveniently can't be questioned. One of the Paterno son's is an attorney and this strategy says there is a lot that they want to remain hidden.

I can't read it either but I've seen stuff on twitter. It ain't just Paterno who is getting slaughtered. It's Curley, Schultz, Spanier and Paterno. The report says Paterno knew about 1998 and talked officals out of saying anything about 2001. :/

The Freeh Report basically says the most saddening thing about the whole sorry mess is the total disregard of the victims, until after the allegations came out. *sniff*

Holy Moly, Freeh also says that Curley/Schultz alerted Sandusky to what McQueary saw. :/

From the press release:

After Mr. Curley consulted with
Mr. Paterno, however, they changed the plan and decided not to make a report to the
authorities. Their failure to protect the February 9, 2001 child victim, or make attempts
to identify him, created a dangerous situation for other unknown, unsuspecting young
boys who were lured to the Penn State campus and football games by Sandusky and
victimized repeatedly by him.

It also indicates Paterno, Schultz, Curley and Spanier, knew about 1998.

according to IS the website has crashed!

from twitter abc:
"The most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized."

Freeh‬ harsh on Paterno, Spanier, Curley, Schultz: "concern to treat the child abuser humanely ... no such sentiments" re: victims

Here's a statement by PSU
Further down in the article is a link to a statement by Freeh

Keep refreshing your screen, it'll eventually load. You're one of MANY trying for access.

Here's a nugget (on the 1998 case):

While no information indicates University leaders interfered with the investigation, Spanier, Schultz, Paterna and Curley were kept informed of the investigation
On May 5, 1998, Schultz's notes about the incident state: "Is this opening of pandora's box? Other children?"

Curley sent Schultz an email in 98 asking about the status of the investigation stating, "coach is anxious to know where it stands."

Disgusting. How could they be more concerned about Sandusky than kids?

Lots and lots of years missing in this report.....

Spanier banned a sports agent from campus for purchasing $400 worth of clothing for a Penn State player. He did nothing to Sandusky after the 98 investigation.

The report seems to offer this as contributing to the decision against prosecuting the '98 case:

A senior adminstrator of a local victim resource center familiar with the 1998 incident said the case against Sandusky was "severly hampered" by Seasock's report"

A few paragraphs earlier is this:

...Seasock achnowledged he was not aware of many of the concerns Schreffler raised but stated Sandusky "didn't fit the profile of a pedophile," and the he couldn't find any indication of child abuse.

I can't get the page to load, so am refreshing here non-stop. Sadly, no surprises thus far - they threw these kids away to protect their own interests. I'm just sickened and very, very sad.

They all need to be under the jail. Disgusting.

Scathing--and I agree with every word.

"It is a tragedy that will be linked with Penn State for generations, because Paterno failed miserably as a leader, educator and human being. He was the man with the real power to stop the sexual abuse of young boys in his locker room. Yet he did not do it."

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/colu...reason-to-believe-PSU-will-act-now/56151882/1

IF Paterno wasn't already dead, he would be dying...right now!

The most important part is he failed as a human....:(:banghead::banghead:
