Why isn't what McQeary and Paterno did considered aiding and abetting?

Wear white to support Joe? Whiskey tango foxtrot so the football program is dividing the pervs From the victims? Then I call bull and say the whole kit and kaboodle bunch of that football program needs to go! Years ago I had a cousin that went to Penn SU, it was 27,000.00 a semester! Dang near 20 years ago! This whole thing is just sickening. totally.
I have one son at Hershey (Penn State) Medical School, one at plain ol' Penn State (State College, Pa), and son #3 at Univ. of Pittsburgh. None of these are anywhere near $27,000 for one semester at these state universities in PA.

Your cousin probably attended the Univ. of Pennsylvania which is an ivy league
university comparable to Harvard and Yale.

(Yes, dh and I did eat two $0.79 boxes of macaroni and cheese tonight. They will all graduate sometime, right? lol)

Local news is stating that there is more to come on McQueary. I have a feeling he is about to get the ax too! And rightfully so!

I heard that he was scheduled to be on the sideline coaching Saturday. He is more culpable than anyone to me. He saw what occurred and didn't rescue the child. Perhaps he wasn't large enough to beat the youknowwhat out of Sandusky, but the least he could have done is to grab that child and run.
I do NOT want to see McQueary on the sideline or anywhere at Penn State.

Aiding and abetting could happen, imo. I think this case has a life of its own w huge tenacles woven around many people. Its been said, but its going to get uglier before it even has a smidgeon of getting better. Football program @ Penn state eqauls state Penn for many. I cant stand to attempt to read the GJ paper, I cant stand it now. God bless the victims and their families. please.

I agree.

However, McQueary is a BIG guy... I think he could have stopped it. :furious:

ETA:

Mike McQueary is a tall and brooding red head, standing well above six feet and carrying 200-plus burly football player pounds. He was a quarterback at State College High School and Penn State.

An Interview With The Radio Host Who Dropped That Jerry Sandusky Kiddie-Sex-Ring Rumor On Everybody (Deadspin)

Mark Madden wanted to make one thing perfectly clear, right from the start.

"I'm not going to say it's more than a rumor," he began.
---
Madden does have an extensive background as a newspaper reporter, so he knows how the slightest rumor can give birth to a big story—how, for every rumor worth checking out, there might be dozens of others that don't lead anywhere. This, he thinks, is a rumor worth checking out.

"It wasn't me reporting it," he said. "I collated it enough to make it clear it was others who told me this, and I collated it enough to make it clear I have some faith in their news judgment. I'm not the one up there looking at the financial records for The Second Mile. But I know somebody is."

The thing that bothers me the most about Paterno's role in this entire thing is the fact he worked with Sandusky for 30 years, coached him for 4 years, and obviously knew him for a total of many more years. There is no way anyone can convince me that in all of those years Paterno was not told by others about questionable behavior by Sandusky and/or did not witness questionable behavior himself, especially when it appears a LOT of Sandusky's assaults happened in the football facility where Paterno himself worked every single day. Assuming Paterno did know of Sandusky's behavior himself or at the VERY least "knew" in his own mind that there was something a little "off" with his friend/co-worker of 30+ years, why did he allow Sandusky to continue coaching in his program for so many years? All we've heard about in the past few days is how much power Paterno has at Penn State. If this is true, and I firmly believe it is, Paterno could have easily ended Sandusky's employment with the school at ANY point prior to 1999 and with Sandusky's reputation as one of the best defensive coaches in college football (at the time), he wouldn't have had any problems getting a job at another school w/in days. Why did Paterno choose not to take the easy way out of the situation when he had plenty of opportunities? To me, the only explanations can be that either a) he simply chose to knowingly allow child rape to continue b/c of Sandusky's coaching ability and/or their friendship OR b) once his personal knowledge or suspicions finally reached a level to make him decide Sandusky had to go, he/PSU found out all of Sandusky's dirty details and decided it was better for the school to allow children to be raped on their campus b/c the potential liability they had on their hands if it became public knowledge was more than they were willing to risk. Paterno may be an old, feeble looking man now, but its important to remember that he's known Sandusky since he was approximately 40 yrs old and he wasn't an old, feeble man then or for many, many years after that.
Sandusky was retired for 3 years before McQueary saw the molestation/rape and told Joe Pa.
Sandusky had been given an office somewhere at Penn State (a humongous campus with 80,000 students) for his charity, Second Mile. He wandered in and out of the football building with the Second Mile kids after he retired.

Sandusky thought he would be Penn State's coach when Joe Pa retired and he just kept hanging on at Penn State even though he had other offers at other universities and (I heard the NFL, but this might be inaccurate). Joe Pa told him that he wasn't retiring and that he wouldn't likely be chosen as the head coach even if he retired (Sandusky was old). At THIS point when Joe Pa told him he would never be the Penn State coach, Sandusky retired and became very active in Second Mile.

I think one of the subconscious reasons that Sandusky chose the Penn State locker room as his crime scene was too "screw" Paterno. Paterno kept him from becoming the coach because Paterno wouldn't retire.

What Joe Pa did was wrong. I do feel sad for Joe Pa because pedophilia was an unknown topic until literally 10-15 years ago. The word pedophilia wasn't even used in the English language until 1950. People of Joe Pa's age usually have little knowledge or suspicion about pedophiles because they were not exposed to the "evil" bs which we (younger people) have been exposed. My dad is Joe Pa's age and he just can't believe pedophiles exist. He thinks they are a new "creation of evil". It is not that they are a new creation, but rather they are become bold/brazen as taboos fade. I have to wonder if Joe Pa never in a million years thought Sandusky could be a pedophile because of my dad's reactions.

Too lazy to find references, but the above is factual on the dates when pedophilia first began to be discussed in America among psychiatrists using the word "pedophilia".

I hear ya. I read that GJ release one time and I just have not been able to bring myself to read it again. I've been a hard-core crime follower for quite awhile now but, this mess at PSU has really gotten to me. I'm dreading to hear what else may possibly come out before this is over. I get the 'sense' the State is dreading having to release further details. Nothing concrete to base that opinion on....just a feeling I get.

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean he won't be coaching from upstairs in the coaches' box. We shall see.

I have been googling, try to find out how tall Sandusky is (compared to McQueary). I came across his autobiography. The title is... appropriate. :furious:

Ugh.

This does sound promising, though.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The future of assistant football coach Mike McQueary is in doubt after a closed-door trustees meeting this afternoon.

Acting university president Rod Erickson this evening told reporters to "stay tuned" when asked why Mr. McQueary, who reportedly witnessed the rape of a child by a former football coach, was still employed.

Mr. Erickson indicated the university could take action on Mr. McQueary late tonight or tomorrow morning. When asked if Mr. McQueary was still employed as of Thursday evening, Mr. Erickson replied "as I said, you'll hear more."

It sickens me that Sandusky will be smiling and watching the game from his home while lots of Penn State fans are devastated. I would like to disconnect his cable tv (in addition to that other thingee).

Are you assuming he started these actions after he was FORCED to retire in 1999? That's the only way I see how the timing of that one victim's assault has anything to do with the fact that Paterno and Sandusky had worked together for 30 years prior to his retirement. There was an allegation in 1998 that led to his retirement. Of course there are no reports that Paterno was a witness or involved in that case other than the fact he was Sandusky's boss and I assume he was his friend, but there's no way in this world he wouldn't have been aware of the allegations that were made and the reason for Sandusky's retirement. Also, we are talking about the victims that have been reported. Those have all been fairly recent in time, but I am positive this pedophile was molesting boys for MANY years prior to the oldest reported incident. Since he and Paterno worked side-by-side, day-in-day out for 30 years prior to his retirement, I am making a personal determination that Paterno had to have known at the very least Sandusky was "off" in some way and had some questionable behaviors. I'm not talking about something I can go prove in a court of law to a jury, but something I feel in my gut as a human being.

I wish Sandusky was still in jail. I don't want him to kill himself before he has to meet his justice.
