I cannot believe there will "only" be 20 victims. Sandusky was living in a child predator's "Disneyland" for years. I wouldn't be surprised if there were hundreds.

One thing I am disgusted/flabbergasted about is the fact Sandusky is out on $100k bond. Nobody seems to be discussing that. How does that happen? He should be in jail. I wonder if he is trying to discreetly contact victims, offer $, etc. I'm sure he is not home reading his bible.

I'm thankful the BOT had the courage to do the right thing. I think McQ should be relieved from his position as well. He was an adult when he witnessed this. Going to daddy and JoePa wasn't enough if the police were not later contacted. He had 10 years or so more to work with Sandusky. How did he look him in the eye
BBM ITA. If you are going to clean house, clean it thoroughly, go all the way.

Posted by Concerned Papa: This is a good article and video with Matt Millen, a former Penn State player.

Quote:
"It makes you sick to see that this could happen," Millen said. "If in fact it has happened, there's just a part of you where you want to go and take care of it yourself...This is about people, and if we can't protect our kids, we, as a society, are pathetic."

I agree, but I must add, We, as a society, are pathetic when sports become our God. I always remember Rome, one of the Ceasar's saying, "give them circuses". Well, folks, we've got 'em, big time, and this country is going the way of the Roman Empire.

My opinion of course.

Scandal weighs heavy on McQueary
By Audrey Snyder, Special for USA TODAY
Updated 1d 5h ago

(My note; John is Mike McQueary's father)

..."He's a good kid and a tough kid," John said standing on the front porch of his State College home late Tuesday afternoon. "He did what he was supposed to do, and all of this has been very hard on him. Everything from this and about this (case) has been difficult for him, but he's a strong person and will be OK."...

______________________________________________

...Finding that solitude has been hard for all of the McQuearys, and John said all he can do at this point is wait for the case to runs its course.

"The investigation has been going on for three years, and I've known for 10 years," John said. "This is about a child. … That's what makes this tough on everyone."

That last statement mystifies my mind. :furious:

Joe Paterno Fired: Penn State Students Riot in Protest

"Thousands of enraged Penn State students tore through the streets of State College, Pa., overnight to protest the firing of Joe Paterno after the longtime head football coach was removed from his position effective immediately."

I simply cannot believe that all these students are protesting this firing.....WTH?

I think a lot of it has to do with none of them having kids. I'd be willing to bet that not a single person rioting for Joe has a child. If they do then they are almost as disturbing as Sandusky is. JMO

*snipped by me*

YES yes yes yes yes. I agree 100%

It's bad enough he just turned on his heel and walked away when he saw it. :furious: If that were me, I'd be holding a child in my arms while watching an old man bleed to death in the shower. :furious:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...and-why-is-he-important-to-penn-state-scandal

I didn't know he was 28 at the time. I thought he was about 22. 28 is man enough to not call your daddy before acting on something that is obviously a felony in progress. :banghead:

Yes, I agree completely with you (like usual!). When I thought he was around 22, I was willing to give him (just a little) leeway, but still thought he needed to have acted more. However, when I learned he was 27 (or 28), forget it. Completely old enough and mature to know to go to police.

Tough on everyone? Yeah, that mystifies my mind also. Tough would be if HE were bent over in the shower with Sandusky, his son saw it, and didn't do anything about it - that would be tough in my opinion.

Hmm, why doesn't he address the fact his adult son witnessed a YOUNG CHILD being raped in a locker room and he (dad) didn't go with him to report it to police?

All of these "our thoughts are with the victims" garbage makes me sick. Hopefully by tomorrow McQ will be gone as well.

Like many of you, I am sad, angry, digsuted and sickened  by the news. At first, I didnt think Paterno was involved at all. Then, i read the DA report :( That poor little boy (who is now a young man) has been forgotten by the media in the frenzy over Joe P. I am so sad.

I am posting this again for the young man who faced 10 years of anguish while these idiots continued to let this happen. Focus focus focus....

** Someone at work said yesterday that Penn State's name is mudd now. They said, "heh, try getting a job now if you're a Penn State Alum, hah"
Several people on staff said they would never allow their kids to go to college there.
:waitasec: What do you guys think about this?

What's even more mystifying is Mike and Mike describe him as a large man. It sounds to me like he'd have had no problem taking down Sandusky by himself. I'm a small guy so I probably would have called the police first and then confronted Sandusky. It sounds like McQueary could have taken care of this by himself and then called the police.

Tough on everyone? Yeah, that mystifies my mind also. Tough would be if HE were bent over in the shower with Sandusky, his son saw it, and didn't do anything about it - that would be tough in my opinion.

If he had seen his dad in there this would have been public 10 years ago, but it was just somebody else's kid so who cares. :furious:

Sandusky's adopted son was 7 or 8 when he arrived in the Sandusky home.

Hard not to believe he may be a complainant, but I am just doing the math.

If you have information for the investigation, or you are a possible victim, please contact one of the following resources:

Office of the Attorney General: 814-863-1053

Pennsylvania State Police: 814-470-2238

You can remain anonymous.

This is a resource for those who have suffered from sexual abuse. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

http://www.malesurvivor.org/

This is merely one of your possible resources.

I want to add one for SNAP-they are featuring Sandusky's case on their front page. They are experts regarding institutionalized sexual abuse of children.

http://www.snapnetwork.org/

Bumping my own post-the victim numbers seem to be growing. :(

Just trying to catch up-a shout out to the Penn State Trustees. This was the right thing to do.

Or maybe it has to do with what they are taught at PENN STATE. Maybe they put sports, or the following of one man (that happened in Hitler's case) above anything else. Watching, and listening makes me almost feel like the entire school need to be fumigated or pulled down.

My opinion only

Or, they are blowing off steam before a big game. The individual interviews of the kids in the crowd pretty much seem to indicate that they understand completely why Paterno and Spanier were kicked to the curb.

  • #278
BTW, Mike and Mike are receiving tweets and emails about this and some people are defending Joe. Mike Greenberg's response to those people is that unless they have read the grand jury report he doesn't want to hear from them.

Ya know, I was thinking about this last night. We have the semester ending shortly and I have to wonder how many students will withdraw at Xmas break. I agree that if my child was enrolled at Penn State that I would have a long talk with him/her about continuing their education elsewhere.

We'll have to wait and see how the enrollment numbers are after Xmas. But my money is on those numbers will drop significantly.

Just heard a little segment on MSNBC - they said at noon today Franco Harris will weigh in. Franco Harris is an "honorary board member of The Second Mile" and also played under Sundusky and Paterno. We need a statement from that foundation board. That place has to be in just utter turmoil.
