And I hope like hell there's a big, wide trail of videos and cell phone pings to do him in. A lot of young people these days don't know how to stay off of cellphones or the internet, and don't think about being videotaped when they are out in public. I really, really, REALLY hope he was that stupid.

Or that arrogant. He impresses me as a guy who thinks he can lie even out of documented proof.

Well, we mostly all agree...JVDS is a psychopath, has killed since Natalee, seen him in sex trade video, his dad died probably as a result of all of this (but that was his own dang fault), so he has just gone about his life as usual and that included killing and fleeing...So sad...thank goodness no one to bail him out of this...the world will be a better place without him roaming freely about.

Hotels are also extremely busy, and the cleaning staff only has a certain amount of time to get every room they can clean. They are on a tight schedule to do it. I know because I worked for several hotels as a front desk clerk. Even if they were told he checked out, it still could have fallen through the cracks because the cleaning people were trying to get their work done and would probably check on the room later after they were done. It's more important to get the rooms ready for the guests already there and those about to check in than go back and forth if someone is really in a room or not unless that room is needed for a guest that is checking in. Usually they go by the "Do Not Disturb" sign and just leave it be.

It could also be that he just left and didn't officially check out. And who knows, maybe he paid for two more nights, but left two nights early. He certainly had the money to do that. As long as that room was paid for, and I know this from experience, it doesn't matter if someone is actually in it or not. Hotels look for making money off of their rooms, and the only room they worry about is an empty and unpaid one.

I appreciate that it is weird, but it could also mean that the overworked staff left one room fall through the cracks or something like that. It doesn't mean he didn't do it. But it does look weird though, I'll give you that.

Hopefully more information will come out regarding an "official check out" and when the woman was found.

Most sociopaths share that trait. MOO

I am wondering if there is any possibility Stephany didn't know who he is, or being in Peru, hadn't heard of Natalee. :waitasec: This is just so heartbreaking. MOO

So heartbreaking! I highly doubt she knew who Joran was. moo

JVM thinks this was ritualistic killing and I agree. He chose the anniversary of Natalee's death.

This is sad enough already. No need to turn it into some occult thing, because it isn't.

Oh, yeah, and finally, hopefully, Justice for Natalee. Finally. I feel so relieved and sad at the same time. I am happy he is caught; sad that he has snuffed out another life as if it was nothing...and sad for the brilliant, young persons who could have and would have contributed so much to the world we live in...EVIL will not prevail. Justice for these girls and may your lights shine forever. You are going down this time JVDS...

This makes me wonder how many more women he may have killed but are yet unknown and have not been connected to Van Der Sloot.

I bet she didn't but I bet her poor father did. Did her father find her in that room?

Wasn't Surinam where the Kalpoe's were from?

It was stated on NG that her dad didn't know who JVS was until he looked him up on the internet.

The date rape drug, GHB seems to be his drug of choice - what an arogant coward he is.

I hope Greta has Mark Fuhrman :blowkiss: on tonight about the case. In fact, I wonder if Mark isn't hightailing it down to South America as we type. I'll bet that Mark could track Joran down.

Yes. I think that Surinam possibility is a false herring. Traveling across a border when you are not being sought is relatively riskless. Traveling across several with an international Interpol call for your detention would be insane.

Joran probably has some money: He has been a successful professional poker player. He will probably try to lay low in whatever country he is now in.

Can we say serial killer? I know some people thought that a long time ago, just because of the probability that he was a psychopath...his dad fell right into it and rescued him and then ended up dying of a heart attack...I figured somebody out there will retrace his steps for the past five or six years. We will soon find out what he has been up to...

Thanks so much ~ and I'll take that as a "no" for his daughter also. MOO
