Stephany's brother did a phone interview with CNN a short time ago. He said that the family did not know of Joran. They found out Joran's name from the hotel and looked him up on the internet.

I also think this is what happened with Natalee. Beth always said Natalee was a virgin. Joran described Natalee's underwear to the authorities, which Beth said was accurate. I'm late to the party... but I'm just apalled by this photo and the smirk on his face - not surprised, though. UGH!! In the video it looks like he sighs in boredom as he turns around. Almost like, 'here we go again with this nonsense'.

I pray he gets that smirk slapped right off his face real quick where he's going.

I'll bet he was searching for someone spending lots of money gambling. He was stalking for someone with potential money IMO. He found one....with more connections than just judges. Karma is right.

Especially since according to one of his 'friends' he was asking for everyone to loan him money and they would not. So he was out of money (couldn't even pay his hotel bill maybe) and found somebody with alot of it on them.
She didn't want to loan/give it to him and there ya go... instant rage!

She knew about him. Her cousin was on the Today Show this morning and was asked about a conversation he and Stephany had. He said she saw a show about him, maybe a month ago, asked him what he thought about. The cousin blew off the topic.

I think her curiosity was peeked.

I watched the Today show video. Actually it was a friend of the cousin's who saw that show and discussed it with him recently, not Stephany. There was no mention of Stephany knowing anything about Joran.

I agree with you. As soon as I read that he'd left the hotel and returned with TWO cups of coffee and then left again shortly thereafter, I realized he was going to say he'd gone out for coffee for BOTH of them and when he returned she was dead, he freaked, then ran.

Why else make such a show of going out to get coffee for two? He planned for people to see him do that. He was setting up his defense.

But... but... maybe he did go get coffee for the two of them and and the altercation took place afterwards? There's been no time of death yet that I'm aware of.

He may attempt this but I don't think it's going to fly.

Bolded by me...I know I watch a lot of CSI..and have this thought..If He strangled her,broke her neck, etc...wouldn't his skin cells be on her neck? skin cell DNA? touch DNA??..anyone know?? thanks

Good points but I think since he had already called his friend about depression and lack of money to gamble/pay hotel bill that funds may have been his initial motive. Probably the date-rape drug was part of his plan (just like Natalie imo), maybe even for the coffee. Maybe she found the drugs and he exploded/ maybe she rejected his advances and he exploded/ maybe she refused his request for money and he exploded/ maybe he stole the money and she realized it when he was gone... just guessing at the moment.

Regarding the coffees? Well, he can't say they drank them, because that is easy enough to disprove in autopsy, even if he did manage to get her DNA on the cup.
But saying he left to get coffees and someone else killed her? Depends if there is any other DNA on her. HOPE NOT!

I wonder if out of curiousity Stephany questioned Joran about Natalie? That could have caused this rage. And a reminder of the date.

I am curious about the date sequencing as well... Is he bloodthirsty on clockwork? I hope he discusses the date interval significance if this goes to trial or if he does his usual media rounds, which will probably be quite difficult for him to do whilst having the life beat and raped out of him on a daily basis.

Hi, Betty P. The borrowing stories seem to be true.

It's also true that according to at least one gambling news site that he was a fairly successful online poker gambler. The website mentioned two of his monikers.

Of course, gamblers both win and lose.

He was staying at a rather upscale hotel.

The website of the Hotel Tac says the price of a room/suite is $30-$50. Another states the environment as a hostel. So I don't think there's any upscale to it except a staircase or elevator. Just sayin...

He left the hotel, came back with two cups of coffee, left some time later and 'said' he would be back. He left in the victim's jeep and moved it about 50 blocks, then got a ride to the border somehow.

So, he will be held in Chili for the two months that it takes for extradition to Peru. I wonder how the conditions are in the jail/prison where he will be held. Does anyone know if the Chile prisons are as primitive as Peru?
