A news report last night quoted 25 to 35 years for murder - going by that.
Not sure 100 percent accurate.

Flow, did you see my post above? (post #493)

I just spent some time trying to find an article I read yesterday that had some specific info about the Judicial System in Peru right down to how a perp is sentenced, etc.
Do you think I could find it? No. :banghead:

There is a post regarding Joran's mother's reaction to news that he had been arrested. I believe it's back around page 14 give or take. It pretty much just said that she was shocked and something about the family not being able to cope with this so soon after his father's death.

Thanks. I personally think Dad was the enabler and even shared in Joran's exploits.I have never been able to get Satish's comment of digust out of my mind. "Your own dad!" I feel he financed Joran's addiction to gambling and who knows what else. His sudden death probably pulled the rug out of Joran's finances and who knows what else.

``I don't know anything,'' Anita told The Herald. ``I haven't been in contact with Joran for a long time ...

Says alot about JVS, don't care enough to call home and check on Mother. Or let Mom know hey I am still alive.

If Joran's father disposed of Natalie we will never know where her body is or was. Knowing how Joran likes to talk it would not surprise me if that's what happened. If Dad disposed of her he knew Joran could never tell where.

What exactly made you change your mind? What are the odds that someone with a motive to kill her would know of and seize the opportunity to do so when she was with Joran? That anyone else did this is so farfetched in my opinion.

I'm just not 100% right now mainly because it's too obvious. This kid might be arrogant, warped and a host of other things, but it hasn't seemed like he's just plain stupid - until now at least.

It would seem like the cameras should have picked up anyone else entering the room and that information might be the key that will put me back at 100%. As far as someone with a motive using that opportunity, they could have been watching at the casino, followed them back to the hotel, and took advantage of him leaving. Maybe a shot in the dark, but it's possible.

Quite a few have expressed concern [and contempt] for her, but as far as I can tell there has been nothing about her current activities or reactions.

The 1st response I read as to her reaction was translated to say something similar to either: 'What is going on or What is this about?'

The 2nd report I read said 'she had not been in contact with her son, JVDS, for some length of time and she did not know anything...'

When reached at her home -- a one-story cinder block house painted mustard yellow -- Anita van der Sloot sounded composed and attempted to politely dismiss any inquiries about her son.

She has two other sons, Valentijn and Sebastian. She is now a widow. Her husband died suddenly last February while playing tennis.

``I don't know anything,'' Anita told The Herald. ``I haven't been in contact with Joran for a long time ...
Here's a link to the entire article. The stuff about his mom is on the second page.

Just jumping off your post tiredofthis. :)

First I was surprised at the brutality of the murder of Stephany (although we don't have all the details as of yet). My gut clenched up for her and for Natalee (and any other unknown victims). I had thought as did a few others that Beth was correct in what she thought about Natalee's death and that it was more than likely what we see called a soft kill. She was drugged, sexually assaulted and the suffocated (one of theories).

However, looking at these two young women that are what we could call known victims of Joran I'm not so sure anymore about a lot of conclusions that I had come to during Natalee's case.

I am still mulling over thoughts here so bear with me while I type out what is troubling me this morning please.

I do not think at this point in time that it can be assumed that the motive for Stephany's murder was money. I don't think the motive for Natalee's murder was sexual assault. (The only example that I can think of at this moment is Ted Bundy, even though we don't know that JVDS has murdered but two people---with men of that ilk it's about the hunt, the kill, the so called victory).

I think that it's possible that the game of getting these young ladies into his company (possible shared circumstances---using drugs on these two girls without their consent) Luring them away from a comfort zone. Faking them out that they were safe within his company and then turning on them to drop his mask and show the monster that lies beneath might have been motive.

The problem I have seen described with dealing with sociopaths that murder is that we can't understand why they do what they do unless we can get inside of their head. I'm just not sure at this time that we can assign the ordinary motives that we see everyday to JVDS.

Sorry for such a long post! I'm still trying to puzzle out all of this.

All of the above is JMHO and not supported by links.

I think you're right, Kat. If it were just about the money, he could have easily overpowered Stephany, took it, and left. A punch and a push would have done it. This guy has something seriously wrong going on in his mind.

ETA: I don't believe this murder happening on the same date as NH's disappearance is a coincidence at all.

I agree, Macon. It all seemed to be too convenient, but if they hunted him down and arrested him I guess he must have done it.

Personally I am surprised that the Peruvian justice system would turn out to be less corrupt than that of a developed country like Aruba. [I don't know very much about either country except what I have heard on the cable talk shows like GVS & NG so I don't know why I would be surprised.]

Where are you all getting the info he was in Aruba on the 10th of May? I thought he was in Holland.

CNN has the JVS story coming up right after this commercial break.

[regular cnn not headline news]

VDS doesn't have daddy the judge on his side in Peru. The tables have turned. He murdered (allegedly) the Daughter of a big supporter of Peruvian police.

ETA: We'll have to wait and see about corruption.

Not there yet. 3 hours delay. Will be transferred to Tagnat then taken to Lima where he will be charged with the murder. [Raphael somebody reporting from Peru on CNN.]

Stephanie had made some money playing poker that night. Her car was found 50 blocks from the hotel.

Joran is charged with trying to extort money from AN ENTITY in Alabama.

edit to correct spelling of location: Tagnat should be TACNA

Nooooo! I was thinking more along the lines of a temporary self exclusion type of thing, lol.

I've tried that and it doesn't last very long. :blushing:

Ok the other thread on jvs was closed soon after I had posted my "thoughts" so I wanted to repost for you all to get a chance to read.....

Ok, here is what I think (scary, I know)

jvs hates women for SOME reason............poor Natalie, the way he called her bad names, the human trafficking, now this......

I personally think that poor Natalie overdosed on the pills he gave her and she died like he in one of his stories said BUT he and the "culpable" brothers got rid of her body because of the drugs that were in her system that he had slipped her to rape her.

I think he is a serial rapist BUT didn't kill again until now. He has been a marked manboy for a long time and I think due to his dad's recent death, his sense of entitlement and being used to getting his own way that he completely lost it when he took her back to his room and the poor girl refused his advances (allegedly she is a lesbian only; this was on JVM) and everything came to a head per say. This was obviously a rage killing. IN HIS WARPED mind; Natalie is merely his albatross and it was like de javu for him (being refused) and he went into a rage and thought of this girl as Natalie is my personal opinion. There is NO WAY he didn't think of Natalie on that day or the days leading up to the anniversary of Natalie's death..........because that is when his life became a public hell in his mind.
