Hi Eyes, Today on HLN I heard it said they expect the autopsy report to be made public next week.

We'll see, but I think they will move very quickly on this case. The father seems highly respected and has made several appeals to the gvnmt for a quick resolution to the case. xox

The way the crime was commited is really throwing me a curve. Can't they actually tell how tall a perp is by the way the knife blows are in the victim?
That and her eye being injured, was that by a weapon or during the beating?

BB, we observers have to stand back at this point and wait for whatever forensic analysis can be done and await the results that can be obtained. Not all of those results are going to be released to the media for public consumption, imo.

I'm hoping (and they probably have at least some of this) - that LE found the "weapon" (we know there had to be a "weapon or knife" because they have said she was stabbed) - and that weapon conatins his fingerprints, DNA, whatever.

His bloody clothes - either left there or in his "rucksack" or "luggage".

Her father said yesterday that his DNA would be found under her fingernails.

Cuts, scratches, wounds on him.

HIS blood found at the scene (hoping he "cut" himself)

HER blood found on anything in his possession when he was caught.

That's enough for now - but I'm sure ya'll help with me with any I've missed.

Remember reading Stephany was wrapped in a blanket - so fibers from the blanket or a strand of her hair, or their DNA on the two cups of coffee - an explanation as to why he took her car - stomach contents found at autopsy...too tired to think of any more right now. lol

Very dignified. SR's Father, with arms extending, loudly snapped his fingers at those photographing SR's Mother's grief until they backed off. He remained dignified. Son displayed equal dignity and equanimity representing his family this evening during NGS when he, with grace and a measured response, refused to sensationalize the appearance of his sister's body. Very moving - maintaining grace and dignity while under unbearable pain and in the face of unspeakable tragedy.

As soon as someone dies, the body starts decomposing, so they can tell because of fluid levels, the state of dried blood, etcetera.

Hi Fransch, and like I posted here a bit ago, the first 3 days after death is when the insect activity begins and develops. Taking the temperature into account they can pretty well pin point the time of death by the development of the larvae. It is a very specific science, remembering the Van Damm case. xox

I think they are being a bit premature since I see no way for them to have Jorans dna profile just yet. I did read on a link here today that they have skin from her nails. Once they have him in custody they can get his dna and compare.

Bolded by me. lonetraveler, time will tell but my gut is telling me that the AL "forces that be", who have supposedly been working on this extortion case had the goods they needed before 5-31-10 but didn't want to make a spectacle of themselves.

The murder of Stephany in Peru gave them a window of acceptance to publicize their efforts in a way which would be accepted by their constituents in ALA, imo.

The facts that we know are:


1. Sometime on or prior to 5/10/10 a call was made to 'extort' money -
- info in re. Natalee's death and/or location of body would be exchanged for the amount of $250,000.

2. On 5/10/10, a $15,000 "down-payment" was wired from a Birmingham, AL bank to a bank in the Netherlands.

3. We know that Joran was in Aruba on 5/10/10.

4. We know that Joran arrived in South America on 5/14/10.



THOSE are the FACTS that we know to date.

What exactly is it that you believe the AL "forces-that-be" could have done so that they didn't make a "spectacle of themselves"? Were they supposed to invade Aruba? Peru? Chile? to arrest Joran van der Sloot on a $15,000 wire-fraud chage?

I live in AL, so I am one of those constituents. I certainly don't agree with everything that happens in this state by any stretch of the imagination, but I honestly do not understand what point you are making.

It is my opinion...hypothesis, if you will....that they sent the $15,000 "down-payment" knowing that Joran would contact them for the rest of the requested $250,000. And when he did, I believe their plan was to entice him to fly to the U.S. to collect it (lots of poker tournaments in Vegas, Biloxi, & Atantic City, ya know ), therefore making it easy to arrest him on U.S. soil.

I could be waaaay wrong ... totally off about that, however I still don't understand what you are implying in your post. Please explain how you think it could have been handled better.

on the knife - I read somewhere (please don't ask where, as I've read MOST of links posted here - but that knife was not found in the room.
Also, when Joran was arrested he had NOTHING with him... no rucksack or luggage....
I too would like to know WHEN he'll be 'pushed' across the border tomorrow?? If anyone finds out - please post - or even a video would be good!!

Interesting. But wouldn't they need to prove that he didnt know where she was or how she died for it to be fraud?

Fraud I can understand, but extortion? That requires threat or violence, that doesn't make sense.

Thank you Scandi! I didn't know that. :blushing: I've tried to keep up to date on the news and on the posts here, but I missed that. I'm glad to hear it, he's toast!

Nor, do I see any of his father's friends ponying up money for lawyers.

Remember in the secret recordings in the car where he said that after his friend left with NH's body, that he tried to act as normal as possible?
He planned to go to school the next day, and the casino the following night, so it would appear that nothing out of the ordinary had happened?

Maybe that's why he got the coffees.... Trying to appear 'normal' after a savage murder, so he wouldn't be a suspect.
