In early days (my 20's), ran into a few guys who were not born and raised in the city (though now living here), and remember asking one or two, why they kept a bat under their beds. LOL And none were involved in any illegal activities. Just considered it a form of protection in case someone entered in middle of night.

Mountain of evidence.
Body bruised from head to toe.
Smashed up, etc.

BBM

Rage, pure rage is the only reason someone would kill another in that way. It almost sounds like overkill. I only hope she was unconscious for most of it.

Sick, brutal man.

this isn't sitting right, he would have taken it with him. he had too much time. leaving a weapon is what u do when your running out the door.

Seems like he was panicking, in a hurry--he had a body and a bloody weapon in his hotel room, and apparently no idea how to get rid of them--and no dada to cover for him this time. I think his brain was shot from drugs, and the pressure of it being the anniversary of Natalee's death.

vandersloot is the perfect patsy. you could really get suspicous about this case especially the fact, closed casket, buried so quickly, only one brother seeing body. i wonder who owns the hotel. perfect set up for doing a disappearing act.
I know i read too many mystery books. imo

It was stated that JDVS left with luggage and a knapsack I believe. He probably left with bloody clothes and a shower before he left hotel.

He also could've carried it in a duffel bag. MOO

Yes, could fit into duffel. Maybe even junior size like your first bat purchase for a little one.

Bull - I don't buy it.
No need for bat for robbery.
Psychopath - obviously, other motives.

Agreed! He brutalized & murdered her because he ENJOYS it!

He simply got angry and needed to vent. He took out his anger on her because she was there and had something he wanted and she said no. He had a temper tantrum. It's just that simple.

I doubt she fought back much, he just kept on beating her body until HE felt better.

Brother Ricardo on line: saw the video of sister at the casino
saw VDS sitting near her on video? - Yes, saw.

NG show: Stephany's brother Ricardo is on tonight. He's saying Monday they believed she'd been kidnapped. Went to casino, saw video of her there and JVDS sitting near her.

I'm going to be out for most of the afternoon - have to make a 60 mile round trip to pick up my grandson - so I'm hoping that when I get back online everyone here will have covered what happened when Joran was taken back to Peru. It will probably take me forever to catch up, but I'll enjoy reading the posts. :)

DITTO here too guys!! I'm watching the Stanley Cup and trying to read here at the same time... :banghead:

With her small stature vs. his rage, it wouldn't take a MLB-type bat either. I just hope she was unconscious through most of it. MOO

Maybe it was in her car? Maybe he got it after checking into the hotel? They're saying it was found in his room so obviously it got there somehow. MOO

Hi, Panthera. Carrying around (wished for) gambling winnings in a large, unknown foreign city sounds dangerous to me. It's a legal weapon that threatens and could even trump a knife.

Me too! But VDS could have paid someone to help, there was another man on survelliance and Peru is looking into.

I was just curious if anything had been said about blood found elsewhere in the room, such as his clothes left behind, on towels, etc. showing he'd cleaned himself up.

If she was not drugged already, I would bet he made her suffer - entire body bruised. Then the final blow.

Perhaps, he was trying to stage a failed kidnapping. Maybe, date-rape drug was used>no screaming heard. So, if knocked out>he over-killed for purpose of staging.

Last I heard the coffee trip was around 8:40am and he supposedly left the hotel shortly afterward. I'm still thinking she was killed earlier. I wonder if any of his blood stained clothes were found in the room? I can't believe he didn't get any of her blood on him and have to clean himself up. MOO

Bloody clothes are stashed somewhere. They'll find them.

All I have heard was that there was blood on the walls.
