Just watched the youtube of Steph & Joran and I don't think they showed enough of the room to make a determination if it was a real mess or not as reported. The video of Joran arriving in Lima is awesome, my heart started racing with fear just watching it--definitely noticed he no longer had that Joran arrogant smirk on his face. This is just such a far cry from what happened in Aruba. As for Anita VDS, she knew..a mother always knows.

Just saw it....Absolutely bizarre scene at the National HQ. They just paraded Joran in and out of the room 3x, upstairs on the 6th floor for 100 photographers and reporters. Joran had that classic stony looked.

Was this on tv or the net? Thanks trigger!

Ugh! I must leave as my son has his 8th grade formal tonight and I must head to the school now to help out a bit...I am going without a shower as I have been reading here all morning instead of getting ready!!! Thank goodness for Victoria Secret body spray, lol...shhhh don't tell on me! Thank you to everyone for all the links and keeping us updated!!!

...and you did a good job too!! I am a Peruvian born, who coincidentally was raised in Miraflores (the same area where the hotel was). If I can help at all with translations, local customs, slang or details of the area, I would be glad to oblige. I followed the Holloway case very closely....and I must say that I felt a certain degree of pride when I heard Joran had been arrested in Peru....finally he will get what he deserves.....and there is no Daddy now to "represent" him!

Gracias :) It's good to know there's two of us here :) Now I can go plant my petunias before they wither completely.

Beyond Belief posted the link for me, #143 post--thank you!

I wonder where along the way, while fleeing he stopped &did his hair done?

I think it's really funny how Scott Peterson and Joran both attempted to dye their hair blond.....not knowing how to actually achieve that color and picking a box off the shelf ended up with tiger piss orange hair! ROFLMAO!

What I don't want to see here is something that reminds us of prisoners taken during war and paraded down the streets.
I expect Peru to do this all in a respectable and fair manner.

Celebrity singer Roberto Blades (brother of Reuben Blades) saw JVDS in the Atlantic City Casino in Lima hours before the murder and warned casino authorities he was dangerous.

Blades told the TV news Confirmed Peru citizen who recognized the Dutchman because he knew the murder case of American Natalee Holloway case in Aruba and which is also involved Van der Sloot. Incluso dio aviso de su presencia en el casino pero nadie le hizo caso . He even gave notice of (JVDS) presence in the casino but no one listened.

“Yo sabía la fama de este hombre por la muerte de la muchacha en Aruba, y les dije a los de seguridad que este era un asesino, pero ellos siguieron como si nada”, aseguró el sonero quien también dijo haber oído hablar al holandés de manera vulgar sobre “buscar chicas”. "I knew the reputation of this man over the death of the girl in Aruba, and I told the security that this was a murderer, but they continued as if nothing," said sonero who also said he heard about the Dutchman vulgar way about "looking girls." “Se fue con una amigo pero volvieron a las dos horas y solo”, acotó. "He was with a friend but returned after two hours and alone," he said.

I am late to the story but I am so glad this monster will finally get what he deserves. I'm just sorry another young girl had to die for it to happen.

Hubby just yelled at me to not feel sorry for this guy. I don't, I am just so human rights driven I want everything done in perfect order. I wonder who taught me that, ugh........:banghead:

I liked this part

"He's going to get a very long sentence in Peru," Black said. "By the time he gets out of jail, if he ever does, this would be a footnote in history."
The lawyer said, however, that the Holloway disappearance could be used "as evidence of proof in Peru," and the Holloway family may ask a Peru court "for a longer sentence because of Natalee's murder

A big thank you to Peru and Chile for aprehending this murderer. Peru has some of the toughest prisons in the world: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/inside/3144/Photos#tab-Photos/0

Suerte pendejo!!

If his story is true - that he didn't do this and someone did it while he was out buying coffee - don't you think the normal reaction would be to run out of the room, screaming...? Not casually checking out of the hotel? Even if he left (as has been implied may be his defense) because he knew he'd be pinned for a crime he didn't commit, seems like he would be visibily shaken that the girl in his room was brutally murdered while he was gone, kwim?

I think they've got him this time. :furious:

lol - no, I can't imagine Joran running out of his room screaming or being visibly shaken up by much of anything. Although, he might be terribly upset that he didn't get to the girl first. I'm still shocked Joran went for 2 coffees, can't imagine him doing that for any girl unless there was an ulterior motive for him to do so. I doubt she was alive at that time. moo

Beyond Belief - I'm also driven by human rights and justice. Not an advocate of violence of any kind, especially pre-meditated murder such as the US death penalty. Revenge can take place through the justice system and in my opinion, that's the best way. I'm grateful for people like you - compassion and fairness are what we humans should be all about. moo

Hi, SoCalSleuth, I think that you're right about the YouTube sequences being inconclusive. I also think that cable news experts and newspaper tabloids like the New York Post often grab rumors or speculations and present them as facts. At this point, early reports about everything from the murder weapon(s), the crime scene, her injuries, the cause of death, Stephany's winnings, and what she was wearing have been disputed or revised.

Part of the problem with the Holloway case, I thought, was that people on both sides continued to repeat and cling to these snippets long after they had been disproven. (And this isn't unique to the Holloway case: Assassination conspiracy theories are often built on these kinds of disparities.)

They're not fooling around when it comes to perp walks, are they?

NO shizzle! This is the first time I have ever seen the Dutchman look scared.

I feel certain because of the world media coverage, Peru will treat JVDS fairly according to Peru's standards. However I think he will find there ain't no ruby slippers in Peru to tap three times, and (taking liberties here) JVDS isn't in Kansas anymore.

Quite a media circus, no? There were a lot of people there. JVDS looks like he's trying to be brave, but is actually terrified. I keep reminding myself he's only 23 years old. In spite of all his bravado and spoiled, bullying personality, he's a man-child. Violent and sick, for sure, but still a young, somewhat inexperienced person who has always relied on others to help him out.
