Tonight (Sunday, July 6) on CNN for pay tv subscribers at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET, a one-hour special about the Idaho student murders case on "The Whole Story" with Anderson Cooper.
He sat for interviews for this program, which is being released weeks earlier than planned on account of the defendant's guilty pleas before the scheduled start of his trial.

He said it was supposed to air yesterday but it got postponed so they could cover the Texas flooding. Listings still say Eva Longoria episode tonight, but he says they haven't updated the listingss.

What a difference between his old Brybrows and his newly lightened and thinned Brybrows. You actually have to look hard to see if he even has them. I wonder A) whose idea that was. His or AT's, and B) if his idea, what exactly was his reason for doing it cuz I don't think his plea deal was last minute IMO. Although it could have been decided after thinning and lightening his Brybrows.

Note - I added a pic to your post so his Brybrows would be side-by-side for comparison. Link to my added pic source also added.
Do they offer salon services like plucking/waxing/threading and hair color in jail? (Manni /peddies, too?) More particularly in men’s area?

Added: Seriously? Do jail barbers get into personal hygiene like plucking or waxing eyebrows, much less dying hair?

A couple of comments from friends of BKs from his childhood I found interesting. I like this part "Let the inside deal with him." BBM

“However, there was never any guarantee that he’d be given the death penalty. So I think him taking the plea deal was better for everyone,” [childhood friend] told the outlet. “He’s locked up for life. Let the inside deal with him.”

and...

Another former friend of Kohberger’s, JB, 31, said the guilty plea removed any doubt of Kohberger’s guilt because if he was innocent he would “be fighting tooth and nail” for his innocence, JB told the Statesman.

Any of you that are as old as dirt, like me, will probably remember this guy, Wooly Willy. BK's new courtroom pic looks like an evil Willy, before we use the pen to move all of the magnetic shavings up to give him the classic Brybrows.

View attachment 600210

I remember Willy and even found these one year for my sons’ birthday party favors — but hate to think of myself as “old as dirt.” Speak for yourself. 🤨

[Going OT, but we need some levity in the gruesome case.]

According to AI, no. But, just because it's not mentioned on Ada Cnty's website, doesn't mean they don't have it. If not, did AT bring it to him to use? Cuz he for dang sure did something to those Brybrows IMO!

Link to AI's source in the quote.

No, the Ada County Jail in Idaho does not offer salon services like haircuts or styling for inmates. The jail provides basic necessities and health services, but salon services are not included, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

But but what I found interesting is the mention of PREA. I was like... what's a PREA?

Prison Rape Elimination Act

Never heard of it. That page can be found in the link above as well.

Apparently it's after a special on Puff Daddy, which looks like what is airing now. So the times may be wrong?

I'm so confused.

"The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper will stream live for pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN connected TV and mobile apps on Sunday, July 6. “The Case Against Diddy” and “The Idaho Murders” will also be available on demand beginning Monday, July 7 to pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN connected TV and mobile apps, and Cable Operator Platforms. Past episodes of The Whole Story are available to stream on demand now on Max."

It's 9:30 ET and it's a Diddy special. Let's see what's on at 10 pm (9 minutes).

On the day this tragic story broke in national news, I went online and searched for images of college girls in Moscow, Idaho and a whole lot of pictures of both MM and KG came up (instagram, facebook, other). IOW, they both had an online presence identifying themselves as students at U of I. Their carefully curated style and "twin" poses were striking and even before we knew their names, I thought they stood out.

I was easily able to find Instagrams for both girls. The Greek restaurant owner denied that BK had ever been there, IIRC, but on what basis, I do not know. It seemed to me that if BK paid cash (as students often do), they would have no record of him nor would he have been particularly memorable unless he asked for something strange. The restaurant appeared on some internet lists of "vegan friendly" restaurants in Moscow, ID. OTOH, if he was stalking MM, he would have gone there for that reason.

We will probably never know, but I am curious as to whether BK had a history of breaking and entering and snooping around, as so many serial killers do. If he intended to SA MM and everything went wrong, he may well have been escalating to sex offender.

If my theory about possible online "interaction" (BK at least perusing MM's and KG's social media) is true, then he may have moved from a form of online stalking to physical stalking. I can see the appeal of that for him. It would indeed be chilling to find out that he had already seen pictures of MM and KG before even moving to Washington. It's possible. The pictures went back in time for a couple of years and included family vacation photos and an awful lot of "personalizing" information, such that a disturbed person like BK could imagine himself in a parasocial relationship with them or with one of them.

It's possible, too, that he knew that KG had moved out (through peeping and stalking). He would therefore have been surprised to see her there (she had a new car).

All speculation. JMO or personal observation.
Agree with all this. I always thought that if he paid cash, how would they know he was there? But I also assume if he went there with any frequency, someone who worked there would remember him, especially how weird he is and those scary, staring eyes. Then, though, he may have only gone once and fixated on MM stalking her online. Or, as you said, saw her online while still in PA.

The preview to the Prime documentary for next weekend shows one of the girls saying that he stalked that whole group and they didn't know it. We will hopefully find out more, but that may mean he stalked them online. However, that all does not align with the prosecutor saying there was no proven link to show he ever crossed paths with them, which he said at the hearing. If there are digital footprints to show the online stalking, why would he say that. All confounding.

Can’t wait for the gag order to be lifted. Prosecutors I am sure will share evidence with the families, and we all know that SG will be out there to tell it all. I really hope his professor meets with him and he gives all the answers we have always wondered.

On another note, I truly hope his lawyer doesn’t coach him how to act like a human for the hearing to feign any emotion or regret. I don’t want to see any acting. He is a predator, reptilian Michael Myers incapable of caring. We know there are serial killers who had girlfriends/wives, relationships. He is not even that.

Since BK bought the knife in March (IIRC) while still in Pennsylvania, I do wonder if he would have committed a similar crime/murder in PA or elsewhere if he hadn't been accepted into the program at WSU. The purchase of the knife at that time may have not been target specific, but something he planned on using and once he knew he was going to WSU, it was packed along with his belongings in the trunk of his car as he headed off to WSU.

Something just hit me — apologies if this has come up before — BK bought the knife, balaclava, etc. in Pennsylvania with crime in mind and then crossed state lines, moving to Washington State. Further he crossed state lines again, going from Washington into Idaho to commit these murders.

Doesn’t crossing state lines to commit a felony qualify for federal charges in addition to the state charges? Perhaps I’m confusing this with crossing state lines in a kidnapping, which I believe is a Federal crime?

Probably answering my own question, I guess the Feds would have charged him by now if they could. Anyone know for sure?

@Gemmie, thanks for the intel on Ada County.

If it’s permissible to do so, AT probably did bring him a box of Clairol 🤣 or better yet, she maybe brought her hairdresser into an “attorney” meeting to doll him up while they talked. MOO. 🐮

The Dateline special talked about how BK's phone connected to the cell tower that serviced 1122 King and that area for the first time the night of the pool party (July 9).

Somehow, that just doesn't seem a coincidence.

Did he perhaps follow a girl home from that pool party, and she happened to live nearby 1122? Maybe that big apartment building with the parking lot that gives the view of the back of the house? Or just close enough that he ended up driving past the front of 1122 and something or someone caught his eye?

If there was a party that day/night at 1122 King, I can imagine that some of the party would have spread outside to the back patio/yard. Maybe he spotted one or more of the girls that way.

I find it hard to believe he would have just stumbled upon that parking lot behind the house on some random drive, wandering with no purpose or plan. I think he found it because of an interest in someone in that apartment building, and that led to him noticing the view of the back of 1122. Or, driving past the front of 1122 something or someone caught his eye, and he noticed how the backyard looked like it went up to a wooded area. Then he saw that little street just to the left of the house, and he decided to go poke around up there to see what he could see--and that's how he discovered the lot went all the way behind 1122.

Maybe he didn't follow anyone from the party, but immediately went and looked up the girls whose names and numbers he got from the party. Found them on social media, maybe one of them posted about going to a party that night at 1122. Maybe she posted on social media from 1122, showing a party going on there, saying or showing something that helped BK figure out the general area of the house.

I can't stop thinking that there is a connection between the pool party and the fact that the first time his phone connected to 1122's cell tower was that very night after dark (per dateline).

I also wonder if BK was stalking the whole house or just 1 person.

One bit of information I found is a lease for 1122 Kings Rd. was signed in 2021 by Madison Mogen and a woman named Ashlin Couch + 4 others.
In 2021, Couch and Mogen signed the lease for the three-story house at 1122 King Road with four other friends and moved in together.

But Couch ended up graduating early and moved out in the summer of 2022, with Kernodle taking over her room.

She was supposed to be in Idaho murders house that awful night

Ashlin finished school early and moved out in the summer of 2022. Then XK moved in.
The article says surviving roommates BF and DM moved in at this time too.

I don't know if leases are public information or not. But BK may have confirmed MM lived at 1122 Kings Rd. if he had access to property records. It's possible KG's name was also on the lease.
Please note the referenced article focuses on Ashlin Couch planning to stay at Kings Rd. on 11/12/22, but she was called away to care for pets.

He obviously had had a haircut recently, and it was going around that he had his eyebrows trimmed. They must have services of some kind, otherwise they would all look like primitive humans for trial.

I can't stop thinking that there is a connection between the pool party and the fact that the first time his phone connected to 1122's cell tower was that very night after dark (per dateline).

I went back and checked the Dateline episode.

The pool party was at The Grove in Moscow, and guests started showing up between 2-3 pm.

I went and made a Google map route that plots BK's apt, to The Grove at 209 Southview, and then the Grove to 1122 King. 1122 is only 1 mile and 3 min from the Grove. I'm attaching the mapScreen Shot 2025-07-06 at 10.04.18 PM.webp

They then said that the information that they got said agents asserted that tower data showed that BK's phone then started going after dark to "a very specific part area of Moscow" and did it 12 times times through July and mid August...starting the night of the pool party.

That specific tower provides "coverage to an area within 100 meters of the house at 1122 King Road."

This was too funny not to share. I was installing new blinds and didn't notice I had cut myself until I got off the ladder and found blood on the plastic wrapping the blinds (it was streaming down my arm) I checked the blinds, they were clean, so I finished up, put away my tools and went to do other chores. I come in, sit down and three inches from the top of the window to the side I see blood smeared all over the wall.

In case anyone wonders how blood gets in weird places and why it may not have anything to do with anything. 🤣

Does it also provide coverage to within 100 meters of the Grove? Inquiring minds want to know....

I ask because I am in a nearly dead zone for coverage of three towers. All three cover within 100 meters of my house, but not usually my house. (Seriously, the neighbors across the street get a signal and I don't 95% of the time.) At least one tower goes 3.4 miles into a neighboring city, so it covers a pretty big area. I know this because they were trying to figure out why there is a dead zone for three houses.

It makes me wonder about tower spacing and such.

I saw something so sad. A Reuters photo of Kristi Goncalves in the Daily Mail, coming from the courthouse last week, holding one of the expandable folded emesis bags like you get from the hospital, MOO. That poor lady, and all of the loved ones of the victims. I understand holding that, as events are so disturbing that I feel shaky and queasy, so what must poor Kristi feel?? MOO

I have been chewing on this a bit confused since she is an expert.
KR said-
"If he wanted to do that, I know that he's got the intellectual capacity to do it, to be self-reflective".

She believes this? MOO
(snipped by me)

The problem with her statement is that self-reflection is not simply "Intellectual." It requires humility (the ability to admit you're wrong), courage (the ability to look inward and face your "dark" side), empathy or at least the awareness of others as people separate from the self, and the capacity to feel because you are not just "reflecting" on events but on how they impact others.

BK can't do any of that. But her analysis says some things about her.
(bolded by me)

According to the July 3, 2025 episode, Special: True Crime Legend Dr. Ann Burgess on Bryan Kohberger, of the Surviving the Survivor podcast:

We had promoted Katherine Ramsland, Dr. Katherine Ramsland. And she said yes.

And she wanted to come on the show, but guess who said no? Her attorney. She did a very little bit of media between yesterday and today.
And in that time, a couple of journalists, not surprisingly, took her words out of context. And her attorney stepped in and said, he doesn't want her doing any more media. So she has stepped back.
(bolded by me)

So Katherine Ramsland won’t be able to clarify her definition of “self-reflection” at this time.

However, it might be helpful to explore a bit of context provided by a July 2 New York Post article that recaps Dr. Ramsland’s NewsNation interview:

The professor, who has published 73 books and authored over 2,500 articles, said she’d be willing to interview Kohberger in a bid to help identify warning signs, “developmental trajectories” and other triggers.
“I want to understand how he was able to completely fool me,” Ramsland said.

If he wanted to do that, I know he has the intellectual capacity to do it, to be self-reflective and think about how his life came to this,” she added.
(bolded by me)

Ramsland based her statement about Kohberger’s intellectual capacity on her experience as his professor and advisor at DeSales, starting in the fall of 2018 when he was an undergraduate.

She said the following about BK as a student:

“He seemed eager to be in the classroom. He was polite, he was respectful, intense and curious.”

“I really thought Bryan Kohberger was a promising student who really could have made a mark in this career in a very positive way,” she added.

I realize many here have no interest in understanding the forensic psychology of Bryan Kohberger, but that is literally Dr. Ramsland’s job.

She explains the usefulness of her research about serial killers such as BTK, as well as other serious offenders, in the A & E piece, Exploring the Mind of BTK: Dr. Katherine Ramsland on the Benefits of Getting to Know Dennis Rader:

The value for understanding Rader for both the professional and general audience is to say that he does break some of the stereotypes [about serial killers]. It’s kind of a warning to us not to be too calculated with our formulas about extreme offenders.
I recently heard a detective say to a reporter, ‘They all have trauma in their backgrounds and that’s what sets them off.’ He’s wrong about that. I want people to know Dennis Rader is not alone in being an outlier to some of the formulas. He had a college degree. He had a family. He had a full-time job. He wasn’t a loner. He wasn’t traveling across the country doing this. Some of the ideas [we have about serial killers] have misled us—and make us vulnerable.
And I think if we were to break down some of these myths and stereotypes about serial killers and understand that we need to do more exploration and more study, that would keep people safe.
[If] we narrow down and focus on a particular subtype—for example, sexually-compelled serial killers who tend to get addicted to what they’re doing—we do have warning signs in childhood. We’ve identified common elements: animal abuse, cruelty to other children, deception, callousness, which you can begin to see at the age of three or four. So, we need resources in place, obviously, when someone is identified as being at risk.
(bolded my me)

Dr. Ramsland wants BK to be her research subject, not her bosom friend. She must approach him or any other research subject intellectually and dispassionately so that her own emotions are not manipulated by her subject. She had lots of practice doing this with Dennis Rader.

If BK agrees, Ramsland might better understand his “criminal type” so she can, as she told NewsNation, identify warning signs, developmental trajectories and other triggers.

To do this, she doesn’t need BK to be humble, courageous or empathetic. She only needs him to be intellectually self-aware. He demonstrated this self-awareness of his own mental state in his teenage Tapatalk posts, and he likely studied psychology and criminology so he could understand why he felt and thought the way he did.

With their shared vocabulary of forensic psychology, Ramsland may guide BK to recount his descent into madness and villainy.

Perhaps she’ll discover that he turned to the dark side when he started abusing heroin. As revealed in the July 3 New York Post article by Vicky Ward linked earlier in the thread, Kohberger started stealing and lying at this time to fund his heroin habit.

Ramsland may also discover that BK was radicalized soon after, at age 19, when Elliot Rodger became an incel phenom.

Tragically, BK may have been saved if he had been honest with his parents about his struggles instead of typing into the Tapatalk void, if he had deepened his ties with his childhood friends instead of pushing them away with drug use, or if he had met with his priest for moral guidance instead of studying the criminal mind.

But we need people like Katherine Ramsland to study the criminal mind, including the tainted mind of BK, to help us understand how to prevent another young man from following such a dangerous path.

IMOO
