BK was considered intelligent, was precise in his target and method, and clearly wanted to survive with his own little secret.
SBM

Yet how could BK be so oblivious to cameras? He chose to murder in a house with only one way in and out, in the early morning hours with little other traffic, and circled three times before finally going in. Did he think his common white car would cloak him in anonymity?

I would not be the least bit surprised if BK were trying to emulate Elliot Rodger. I read his wordy manifesto and it was — and still remains — one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever read.

Rodger was fixated on girls with blonde hair. He talked about sitting outside a sorority house for hours in his car and watching all of the blonde girls. He said the only way to fix humanity was to elect a supreme leader (such as himself) who would starve women to death in concentration camps. Although few select women would be handpicked and held in secret labs for reproductive purposes via artificial insemination. But the majority of men would be unaware of their existence, as a world without love and sex was the only way to ensure equality for all men.
Well blonde co-eds is something that they share in common. However, didn't Rogers at least attend UCSB? Kohlberger picked a school he didn't attend to seek out his victims.

Most murderers aren't smart and that's how they get caught. Look at all the ones on camera buying their murder supplies at Walmart. Watch the show See No Evil, and then there's recently convicted mushroom poisoner Erin Patterson in Australia, caught dumping evidence on CCTV footage.

He's the ultimate loser, albeit a very destructive one. Dumb and dim

If one of the parents wants to get to him, when they're writing their Victim Impact Statement, maybe they could include that.

That BK - Eliot Rodger comparison had a paragraph on using ' Intellectualism as a mask'
A WS-er this week, said he has a very 'average IQ' - yet we know BK was focused on his own genius. ( Whether that's patronising students & colleagues at Univ or signing-up for a Quora account to answer queries on the internet on the subject of IQ and test scores. )

Caveat - ofc, fixation & frenzy are other reasons plus perhaps pre-planning to change his car reg are other probable reasons but I think the first point would get to him and a parent could pull the rug on him on July 23)

What else would Ws-ers drop into such a V I statement. I think, adding something on his sexual inadequacy would also hit hard

I agree, imo he crossed paths with Maddie and became obsessed. He exhibited stalking behavior in PA.

"Jordan Serulneck, the owner of Seven Sirens Brewing Company in Bethlehem, said Kohberger asked women on staff or customers who they were at the brewery with, where they lived and what their work schedule was.

He stopped visiting the brewery after Serulneck approached him about the staff's complaints, Serulneck said."

I am positive he went there, I'd swear BK went to Mad Greek. I can never "know for certain." But it's his type of place in certain respects. While there's not going to be too much on that menu that is going to work for a vegan, he could do the hummus and pita for sure. Salad, maybe request vinaigrette. Fries. From what I can see, the restaurant didn't have falafel, which might well have made BK a regular, but they didn't. So other than options already named, it's the vegan pizza all the way, and they did have it, they had a per se vegan pizza. So I don't see BK necessarily being a repeat customer, but I'd say chances are just very high that he went at least once for the vegan pizza. With someone like BK, once might have been enough, or perhaps the one visit may have captured his interest enough where he may have returned after all.

It's going to be interesting to see what revelations come after the gag order's lifted.

I don't get doing Hummus and Pita without Falafel, but maybe that's just me...

How creepy must it have been to get banned from a bar, where they deal with rowdy and disturbing customers frequently I'm sure.

Quick review of the docuseries. I think this is available at 12midnight PT.

"... I walked away from a series about a case I thought I knew well with a much stronger sense of who Xana, Maddie, Ethan and Kaylee were as people."

It is okay. It does not paint a full picture but explains or allows you to experience the vacuum that was sort of happening at the time.

The filming is not that great, story development so-so, and they are not tugging on your emotions with dramatic music and lighting. It feels hollow to me, and maybe that was the intention (to express the loss).

You certainly do not get to see what a great town Moscow can be. Flat is how the documentary strikes me. JMOO

Sorry, but criminal justice studies are not the most challenging in academia.

Not putting the field down because there are SMART PEOPLE in every field, but the average SAT score entering this field is in the lower third. Much lower than business school, engineering, biology.. you get the picture.

BK is not smart. He just memorized a lot and felt like he could school people with his "vast" knowledge. Plus he seemed to be fixated on crime and serial killers so he could spout out a lot about that subject...just like we can... but we don't spout it out to gain attention or make ourselves feel special.

It sounds like BK would try to "be normal", but he is so socially awkward, it came off as "creepy'. BK just screams "INCEL".

Once he gets to prison he's in for a shock. If he can't get along with people out here who let him get away with pushing boundaries he's going to get a huge wake up call.

I really don't think he'll be able to adapt. He will have zero control over his life. But he'll get lots of letters. I don't know but I doubt he can correspond with other prisoners.

All my opinion.

Is anyone else watching the new documetary. The Idaho Student Murders?

I am 13 minutes into the first episode and in tears already.

Same here, @twall, though I started with Episode 4. I cried throughout, especially when Maddie’s mom spoke—wow.

@Chloegirl, are you talking about the four-episode docuseries on Amazon Prime, “One Night in Idaho: The College Murders,” or the single Peacock show, “The Idaho Student Murders”?

The Amazon Prime docuseries was first available at 3 am Eastern time today (midnight Pacific time). I stayed up to watch it as soon as it was available and promptly fell fast asleep (as I always do when trying to watch anything late at night). I woke up in the middle of Episode 4, rewound it, and watched the entire episode, transfixed.

I’m not a local like you, Chloegirl, and have watched only one episode so far, so I can’t say anything about how accurately Moscow is portrayed.

Quoting myself to clarify, I am referring to the Prime docuseries One Night in Idaho: The College Murders that dropped early this morning in the US. I believe op was asking about the Peacock doc The Idaho Student Murders which I have not watched. I got them mixed up!

I was thinking about SG. He seems like he thought he had some control over the prosecution of BK. He seems resentful because he was not allowed to be more involved in the process.

I understand he wanted BK to be executed and anything less is unacceptable to him because he, as a father wanted retribution for his daughter's murder and he was sure he would get that.

When talking to Peirs Morgan he said the shock of the plea deal brought it (the murders) back. I paraphrase but his words pretty much said he was stuck in time and unable to grieve until BK got the death penalty.

My hope is he realizes that experience of reliving the horror had BK got the DP would have happened every single time BK appealed and he attended the hearings. I hope he can begin the healing process.

He will scare of few because he looks "crazy" but I agree he will be the oddball there too.

I tried to stay up and kept checking Amazon. I finally gave up and went to bed. It's there now. I'm going to start with episode 4 then go back to 1.

Chloegirl’s own review was appended to her previous quote about the Amazon Prime docuseries. Since she didn’t like it, I thought she might have been talking about the similarly-named Peacock show since others here didn’t like it. (I haven’t seen the Peacock show myself since I don’t have the streaming service.)

There’s an interesting post on their family Facebook. I believe his wife, Kristi, wrote it. She said if BK got the death penalty he would be in a cell 23 hours a day (more of less) which would be a correct punishment. She acknowledged having to go to various hearings.

I do think & I think lots of folks thought there would be a trial. I can see where any of the parents would feel we are almost at the trial after years of waiting & there’s a huge reverse course. In another post, someone stated sometimes it’s how you communicate a change in course that helps the parent accept LWOP. SG may need some help, but is not there yet. I feel in time SG may seek this help as he has other children & grandchildren he’ll want to spend time with.
