when i read about true crime enthusiasts lining up, i wonder how the families feel about these people coming to take a look. does it make them feel like this is some kind of entertainment? or is it nice that people care?

not that i should be judging anyone, as i’m writing this on a true crime forum!

It shows
people CARE about JUSTICE for Victims IMO.

What? Seriously? After the victim impact statements, Kohberger will have the opportunity to address the court, but he's not required to do so.

He won't. He won't share one word.

Having watched Stephan Sterns make that sickening speech this week which further antagonized the family and was an insult to murdered Madeline Soto, I hope that Loserberger keeps his mouth shut today.

If I were family and no one showed up I would be angry!

Tell me that isn't the death stare of one messed up dude without telling me that isn't the death stare of one messed up dude.

Heaven help us, I can feel the Evil oozing out of him there.

He will keep his mouth shut. He won't show a drop of emotion. And he won't make a comment afterwards.

Same - I'm not judging, I'm just really conflicted on this one. I hope the families know that they have had a tremendous amount of support and genuine care about this case and their children here on WS.

Sadly, the same can't be said of other 'websites'.

EBM - Added for clarity

Stern's statement was infuriating!! How dare he?! I felt so badly for Madeline's dad and all the others who gave victim impact statements.

I for one never would want to hear the names of Maddie, Kaylee, Xana or Ethan on his lying thin lips.

if anyone watched B Entin's tour of the Idaho super MAX prison yesterday..you can see that this sentence is a death sentence. he might as well be dead, yes he gets an iPad and a TV , but he will
always be shackled or chained..even in the social areas, he will be caged in every situation for his 1 hour out of his cell.

I am convinced he will try to hurt someone eventually. he will want to outsmart their system.

I don't think he should be in the Idaho prison...they will definitely try to kill him on the inside...mOO

In the wee hours of Nov 13, 2022, pure evil came to Moscow, Idaho, in the form of a monster whose name I will no longer speak. He took the lives of four innocent young people, but he also took from everyone else in that college town. He took their sense of security, and for some 11,000 people, living away from home for the first time, he took away all that remained of their innocence and naivete.

Today, in just a few hours, the evil monster will be formally sentenced to life in prison, with no opportunity for parole, and will be taken away, in cuffs and shackles, never to step foot outside prison walls again. Good riddance! May he rot there! For the families and friends of Maddie Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, although I am not sure there is really ever such a thing as closure, may this day be a turning point for you, when you can finally stop looking back, and begin to look forward, always holding your loved ones close in your heart, and knowing that millions of people that have never met them, both near and far, will as well. We will never forget them. JMO

Beautifully said, @SteveP.

Although I am usually in favor of the DP, I do believe this is the best outcome we could have hoped for. IMO cowardly BK will never give up his secrets, he needs that pathetic control. But he pled guilty, and all those involved never have to hear his name again if they so choose. That the friends and families do not have to testify is actually a blessing for them, I can't imagine how gut wrenching that would be.

As much as I liked Judge Judge, I think that we wouldn't have come so far as we have with Judge "Hammer" Hippler. The hammer drops today, no more shenanigans from AT (blaming friends of the victims for what she knew was BK's crime for example.)

I saw a journo post on twitter that they aren't sure they'll even get in as the courts aren't prioritising actual journalists over ticktockers 😑
That's kinda sucky to me. Half those grifters queuing up outside the courthouse aren't there for the victims or justice, they're there for the likes and super clicks they'll get. Guarantee that some of them will be the rotten rumour slingers that have been infecting the internet as well.
Gross.
