GUILTY PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #114

Bodycam video!

It's unbearable to watch and listen to, but at least it did confirm that I had seen a photo of the roommates and friends outside with blankets around them at the crime scene. It must have been scrubbed from MSM for safety issues.

The beans alone look more appetizing than what I had in elementary school.
Regarding the complaints BK is making, I do predict he will file a lawsuit and is taking the steps toward that. This guy is relentless in being an annoyance and I expect we will continue to see complaints filed (from the guy who racked up 12 complaints against him during his first semester at WSU).

In fact, since it's a step-by-step process, he might find it comfortable while the rest of us cringe thinking he is making life more uncomfortable for himself.

BBM:

Inmates in Idaho can raise concerns through the internal grievance system, which allows them to file complaints about conditions or staff conduct. This system includes clear steps and timeframes for filing grievances, along with a process for appealing decisions. If the issue is not resolved internally, inmates can pursue external remedies, including filing civil lawsuits or administrative appeals. Legal counsel, including pro bono services and prisoner rights organizations, plays a vital role in assisting inmates in addressing grievances and ensuring their rights are upheld....

Idaho state law establishes minimum standards for inmate living conditions, including proper hygiene, sufficient nutrition, and adequate space....

Inmates who wish to file a grievance about conditions or staff conduct in Idaho must follow a step-by-step process.

Same! It was posted so early and then gone. I thought someone’s blanket was one of those silver ones, which obviously is wrong. It goes to show that details can be misremembered.
Training kicked in for the officers on scene. They went to work on a quadruple homicide right away, doing what they had to do. Not the usual noise complaints and parties. Like Dylan said, nothing happens in Moscow.

Does anyone know how the Plea Deal, Kohberger pleading GUILTY to all four (4) Counts of First Degree Murder, came about ? Did the Prosecutor’s Office first float the deal to Kohberger ? Or did Kohberger approach the Prosecutor’s Office , asking to have the Death Penalty removed ? Do we have the Link, Quote, News Article , or Narrative posted here on Websleuths ? I have exhaustively searched , but I cannot find it. I do not know how that Deal came about , thank you very much !
I believe I read somewhere that as the start date for the trial was coming closer, some motion or other from the Defense was denied. soon after they went to the State asking for a plea deal. my interpretation of that was his legal team knew his chances of acquittal were zero & the best they could do for him at that point was to ask to take the death penalty option off the table.

The officer whose bodycam we are watching is Officer Nunes (you can see how it matches his report in the MPD doc releases #3. He was only 22... :(

Dylan did good job of describing what she saw to Nunes. I was impressed at how she held it together well enough to answer his questions and keep answering them.

I know some of HJ's reaction is calm reaction is shock....but also...I think he is a person who snaps right into a practical, take care of a situation mode the moment he senses a crisis. He could have waited on Emily to get dressed and walk over with her...he didn't...he went straight over himself...he went right in the house....and once he knew he got BF and DM out and got them calling the cops while he went to get a knife to make sure the murderer wasn't still there. Then he checked Xana's pulse just to be thorough....because while he knew she and Ethan were dead, he had to check if there was any tiny chance she was still alive and he could help.....and if Xana was cold, he knew both of them were long gone. That poor poor boy.

Those poor poor kids.
Wow. I wouldn’t have guessed that he was that young based on the interactions. I think this is one of those things that doesn’t happen for police officers in a small town often (it would rattle a seasoned veteran too) so it would be difficult for anyone but he’s pretty much the same age as them. Gives a little perspective

This is stalking behavior. The occasion when Bryan continuously stood behind her chair as she worked (i.e. stood where she could feel his presence but couldn't see what he was doing or looking at) and the fact that he stopped it when another advisor came into the room indicated that Bryan knew that what he was doing was over the line.

IMO, this woman is fortunate to be alive. She clearly occupied a big place in Bryan's predatory brain.

It makes me furious that more was not done by authorities at WSU to help this young woman - like assisting her in obtaining a restraining order against a man who was clearly stalking and attempting to physically intimidate her.
I'm shocked that nothing was done. The only explanation is perhaps she didn't report it immediately?

I had a stalker at a community college and my students told me what this dude was doing and they were very concerned. I reported it and the administration took care of it immediately.

Applies WSU
Buys Ka-bar knife March 2022
Applies for Pullman Police internship April
Buys a new phone and gets a new cell number June
Arrives WSU end June

' This information was all gathered from the Samsung Galaxy phone Kohberger owned and had purchased in June, around the same time he moved to Washington from Pennsylvania. '

Copstop ( forgotten which month) ' Can I take your cell number?' BK replies ' Why?
December, BK getting antsy during the manhunt searches ' wiretapping'

I hear ya (and come from a spicy ND family - I get it). But, it's also rather common knowledge that "prison rules" exist. He could follow those rules. Like, keep your head down, don't snitch, don't act like a priss to make yourself a target.

There are experts who can be hired to prepare new convicts who don't come from a background where they know prison life. I'm shocked, actually, that BK seems to be unprepared.

But, then again, as suggested upthread, he might be enjoying documentation in the hopes it will be useful to him. I don't think it will be useful, fwiw.

Maybe he'll collect the data of his complaints and produce an academic paper about it. (Joking...sorta.)

His complaints are certainly keeping his name in the news and that’s something I’m sure he enjoys knowing! OMO.

I know that it’s the officer’s job to ask Dylan all of the questions, but I screamed inside when he was asking for her roommates’ birthdates. She stood out there in her bare feet and politely answered every question to the best of her ability, in the middle of unspeakable tragedy, while trying to hold it together. To know that she even yelled out to her roommates in the middle of this carnage, and somehow the monster did not kill her. Ugh.
The one thing I'm grateful for is she standing on a hot pad that he provided.

Super grateful for these images because I had been trying before to figure out where exactly the beer pong table was. I've wondered if the positioning of that table didn't somehow result in the "flash/bang" I think one of the surviving roommates said she'd heard that table moving right around the time of the flash & firecracker noise. What's that gold thingy behind the beer pong table?

Getting another couple images online here, those are lights, and lots of electrical cords down there on the ground:

And I think that's a power strip in the viewer's far-left corner there. Ah! And look at this:

That's a weight, I think (?? maybe? still looking at it) like a little dumbbell for arm exercises. Did that fall? I won't say why I'm asking this (graphic), but did he have this upstairs? And then did it later maybe fall, perhaps off the table when he went downstairs and the table started moving?

Having someone look at it with me here, too. Is that a handweight or a lantern?
I just assumed Xana ran around the table. But there is enough room in between the twinkle lights and the table for someone to run that way. It's likely that she did go that way cuz she would be used to it.

thanks MG
seeing the cop take Murphy out of the house broke my heart
poor doggo witnessed his favourite human being brutally taken away from him
When you listen carefully the moment they take the dog out is when all the students start crying really hard. I think that's when they realize it was something wrong upstairs. They're crying so hard.

I also wonder about that. What's the connection there and why did he hate women so much but not hate his mother? I remember Ed Kemper. He depised women because of how his mother treated him growing up and then eventually killed her. Clearly, BK's relationship with his mother is different but I'm just trying to understand how it all ties together.
MOO because he fits the bill of being a certifiable incel, so his murderous leanings were also for revenge against women who he felt rejected him.

I watched the footage this morning, my heart breaks for the surviving room mates. I wholehearted believe it was the right thing to do the plea deal for their sakes alone.

I know the priority immediately turned to preserving the crime scene, rightfully, but I wish someone would have thought to bring in a school bus, if nothing else, to keep the huddled protected and warm.

All this pain. Poor DM didn't even take the time to grab shoes or a jacket.

Juxtaposed with the felon who had already returned to the area and was back home, warm and comfortable, giving himself a happy things up.

That's why you never fit in anywhere, Felon. Your emotions are 100%.

You delight while others suffer.

Suffering YOU caused.

Repulsive.

I mean... I don't know what to say about this person.

Ever since the stargazing, I've known he was this type. His own evil just doesn't register with him. If it does, he must actively embrace it, because him coming back now, complaining about fruit cups after he left other humans he'd slaughtered in pools of blood to die, tormented their families and turned their lives into hell... He's extremely lucky he's not getting vegan-approved lethal injection drugs somewhere down the road. And he's actually sitting there, whining about beans and fruit cups? And scary guys in the other cells?? And insults? Sticks and stones doesn't occur to him?

Batsh-- nuts. That's the only reason I think they spared him. But others have been just as nuts, and they got the DP.
Don’t forget he didn’t get his dinner roll. 🥱😬

Why change your cell phone number when you move? That is no longer a necessary step when relocating.
When moving from a prepaid phone plan to a monthly phone plan, the phone number can't be kept and you must get a new phone number (at least, this is the way it used to be before I retired from Apple retail). Prepaid numbers belong to their respective phone companies, so the reason he got the new number may have meant he was switching from a pre-paid phone plan to a regular one.

Check the media thread. All info, no comments. If I remember correctly, the defense approached the prosecution right before the jury summaries were sent out. IMHO

She says she heard Kaylee's name spoken

It's is possible that what she first heard was him speaking to Xana and saying, "It's okay, lady, I'm here for you" and she misheard 'lady' as Kaylee. It would fit if he was pretending he was some LE hero and wanting to slow/stop her.
