GUILTY PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #116

What he did was evil, what he is is evil. Evil- minded.

There's maybe no study on it, no link I could offer, but you get the sense BK never slept, and without sleep, his brain never got any nighttime repair, and utterly isolated (because he didn't know how to relate to anyone, except for within the dysfunction of his family, where the root of that dysfunction was him), his thinking never underwent repair nor redirection, no one to challenge his lines of thought. Imagine feeling smarter than everyone else where your only data points are ones you entered, talking to yourself in your head and agreeing with everything you've said, never a voice of reason, never a challenge, just a horrible, stupid, evil idea, left utterly unchecked.

And this is what you get, an awful awful awful crime, carried out awfully.

What an awful human being. Awful person, awful son, awful sibling, awful friend, awful male, awful driver, awful TA, awful colleague, awful PhD student, awful everything.

JMO
I don't know if there is a study on it, but there is a legend, commonly attributed to the Cherokee or other Native American peoples: The Two Wolves.

It is presented as an elder speaking with a youngster, passing along wisdom. The elder describes a battle going on between two wolves inside himself - "one is evil, full of anger, sorrow, regret, greed, and pride. The other is good, full of joy, peace, love, humility, kindness, and faith."

The elder tells the youngster that the same battle is going on within the youngster, as it is within every person.

The youngster asks, "which wolf will win?"

And the elder replies, "the one you feed."

During those twilight and early morning hours when most slept and their bodies rested and repaired what was tired or worn, BK was busy in his hiddenness and aloneness feeding the potential for evil within himself. Indulging anger and sorrow, feeding pride and feeling power. Forging envy into scorn. And unfortunately, the area of study he chose (one in which so many people he encountered were there because they devoted their lives in the service of the good), he used to inform, sustain, and grow that potential for evil into capacity for action.

If ever a post deserved a gold star and an angry emoji at the same time --

The analysis -- gold.

What BK did to feed the beast -- evil.

For a detailed explanation, see the superb post from @waitin'4thewrld2chg above.

In short, the footage revealed that the vehicle didn’t have a front plate. Which could narrow the search to Elantras from the few states which don't require them.

It was a key detail and also incriminate BK, one his identity was discovered and his vehicle lined up.

BK looped several times in the neighborhood but was captured only once driving in the opposite direction, likely trying to get a good look at the DD vehicle. Her presence inadvertently provided LE with a critical detail! Another view of the Elantra, one which showed there was no front plate.

Agreeing also with @waitin'4thewrld2chg -- BK should have remained in his parents' basement and never ever moved to Idaho.

JMO
Thank you for being so gracious. As someone other than the OP, I probably should not have responded but I felt I was the only night owl still up on western side of the planet (lol).

I had never realized, until you pointed it out, that the DD vehicle being present was probably the reason why the image of the white car with no front plate was captured at all. That is very curious. Sometimes happenstance provides a break.

This legend is a solid one.

Sometimes, I think it can probably be said, 'bad' is what's left over when 'good' is removed. You get to base values. Self. Survival. But I don't think that applies here, as BK took concrete steps to create evil.

Practicing his hoodie look
Searching the internet for sick adult content
Scrubbing his devices
Hiding his purchases (not well, but that didn't stop him)
Circling 1122 King Road
Surveilling 1122 King Road
Befriending Murphy or drawing him out (moo)
Breaking the slider (moo)
Breaking and entering

Unlike many criminals, BK was surrounded by resources. He had every opportunity -- and then some -- to feed the good beast.

He had access to mental health providers.
He has a supportive family.
He had access to role models.
He was given gutter bumpers in the form of performance reviews, a Q & A session, improvement plans.
He overcame a heroin addiction.
He lost 100 pounds.
He had tremendous willpower.
He could follow a regimen.
He was given glowing recommendations.
He had the capacity and means to study -- climbing the academic wall.
He could box, run, weight train -- he had other outlets.
He was physically fit.
He had interests.
He could drive.
He lived alone.
He achieved free room, board and a salary --
Functioned as an adult.
Every encounter he had, the ones where he left the audience (whether of one or of more) uncomfortable was an opportunity not to be creepy.
He could have recognized that everybody can be smart, in their own ways and in what they know. It's not possible to be the smartest person in every room. Abd the glaring difference between those who declare they're the smartest people in a room and the people who are the smartest? The smartest ones would never say that. They recognize there is always more to learn, and some of the best teachers know less but can teach much.

BK chose to restrict his diet, deliberately rejecting every handout toward the good and purposefully catering to evil.

Despite all AT's nasal intonation about his theoretical autism diagnosis and judicial opportunity to declare autism as a protected class (without producing an actual, supported diagnosis), BK clearly knew right from wrong. He picked wrong. Actively shunned direction and redirection and delighted in what he was planning, as he planned and then executed it, and in the afterglow. Thumbs up. If there was a cigarette to smoke, he would have smoked it.

He. Chose. Evil.

Because he wanted to. Because he wanted not to stop himself.

He "respectfully declined" to make a statement prior to sentencing, but in his head, I'll bet he had/has plenty to say. You could see it in his microexpressions particularly when KG's sister was punching him in the face with words. Nothing flowery about them. Just the cold, hard truth of his cowardice.

I think he wanted to argue against her, and I think he'd like to boast of his crimes.

... which reveals just how disordered he is.

Counter-humanity.

No shame. No honor. No courage. No decency. No empathy. No insight. No regulation. No remorse.

Beast with a skin suit. (Credit @girlhasnoname for this perfect descriptor, borrowing from another thread.)

In a word, BK is uncoachable.

To his credit, his dad tried to hold him accountable, over the stolen cellphone.

Did BK learn his lesson? Not to steal? Hardly. Instead he got better at stealing.

The Q & A session -- it could have been a great opportunity to address and resolve differences. But no. He just lost his temper instead.

Improvement plans -- he could have cared what the faculty heads thought of him, especially considering that he was at WSU at their approval. He could have improved. Instead, he devolved.

I've joked plenty about (no) crosswalks in PA, but what is really glaring about his traffic stops is, not that he wanted to learn what he did wrong so he could remedy it, but that he was bent on engaging in meaningless monologue and -- as evidenced by the seatbelt exchange -- he wasn't going to start wearing it, he was merely making a note to lie about it next time.

Just another social convention -- and a law, at that -- that he deemed beneath him. Never mind that the solid majority of people comply. Never mind decades of research, design and dummies who say otherwise. He's suddenly an expert on the efficacy of seatbelts.

No one loves a know-it-all, Bryem.

Bottom line, there's a learning curve for the rest of us. Not him.

Smartest man in the room/car/program/office/courtroom/cell is soooooo smart he's full up.

Which makes him the dumbest man. In all the places.

Right, but that doesn't account for the noise. JMOO
Phone falling down the stairs, if she dropped it. The crinkle of the bag and door closing. Im not sure if the wreath on the door made sound, but possibly the wind in that. There is no evidence he went downstairs, so a noise of xana seems to fit in my brain, the most. But I don't know. It's just my thoughts

  • Bryan Kohberger allegedly stalked two undergraduate students at Washington State University, showing up to their workplace "every day," according to Idaho State Police reports.
  • Both women said that they later heard or were informed of someone watching them through a window just outside their homes.
  • Kaylee Goncalves, one of Kohberger's four murder victims, also reported that a man had been stalking her prior to her murder.

It would not be hard to believe that it was him.

I have long suspected that stalking and peeping was a big part of his repertoire a la Bundy.

KG and MM were yin to yang so it's entirely possible IMO that BK might have been stalking MM but KG is the one who perceived it, feeling the prickle of being watched.

Adage proves true. No one starts with murder. BK didn't. Bet he's got an illustrious career of stalking, peeping, prowling, breaking and entering. Voyeurism on steroids. He got his confidence on 11/13 from somewhere, and in going to guess it was from experience. He'd done it before. Anyone within a radius of him should wonder whether he ever stood at the foot of their beds...

He has a very dangerous history.

Watching women through their windows, extremely violating. I wonder if he didn't supply AT with his ridiculous alibi -- he may have thought he was quite clever calling window peeping star gazing.

A full picture of him is starting to take shape. Soon as he was free of his parents' supervision, it seems he became fixated on following women home from their jobs.

He makes me feel like none of us are safe. Ever.

There's no reason to believe he couldn't have stalked both of them, and more girls who didn't report.

One of my biggest fears is being stalked or peeped.

Russell Williams watched Jessica Lloyd work out at home on her elliptical/treadmill and then went back. He saw her as he was driving around looking.

When night comes, I close all the blinds and lock up. So many of these guys cruise around looking for opportunities.

He seemed to lead a "double life".
IMO
he is insane.

Ooops,
I said it AGAIN 😟

But really...
Considering all facts,
I can't say anything else.

And honestly,
I shake my head while thinking about potential authors who cannot wait to interview him & write about him.

I will never read any books about this persona.
WS is sufficient for me.

I am not going with insane, but you can. That might make me have empathy for him.

He is a PREDATOR, simply put. Watch big cats, bears, and the like in the wild (oh yeah and sharks, definitely sharks circling). I see - I want - I do.

It is a primitive brain energy that we cannot relate to, thankfully. I feel bad for men who are getting lumped into this category (not all men are predators). JMOO

This world needs to change. NOW.

This is sort of driving me crazy the sparkler/firework. Where in the world would BK have gotten his hands on some kind of device like this to use it to confuse/misdirect people in the house. I've seen a lot of different references calling it a dazzler (could possibly come in a case like DM saw him carrying).

Early on, there was talk about the theft at WSU. I cannot imagine that they have this for crowd control, but maybe they could?. This is the single most confusing thing (and there has been a lot). JMOO

Follow-up: $99?

Just a suggestion from personal experience. I occasionally wake up to hypnopompic hallucinations - usually a loud boom or knocking, hearing my name called, a bright flash of light. It's very confusing and alarming when I wake up trying to figure out of it was real - and I generally only figure it out because there's no one there to be calling my name, and pets are still asleep, not barking etc.
I also more often fall asleep with hypnagogic hallucinations - kaleidoscope images, feeling like my bed is sinking, dreaming while still partially awake (different than sleep paralysis), etc.

Maybe BF experienced this?
It can happen more often with poor sleep patterns, stress, alcohol intoxication.

As I understand it, PA doesn't require a front license plate on a regular passenger vehicle. Most of the vehicles in Moscow and Pullman would be from WA and ID and would therefore have front and back plates since both are required in those states. (And in twenty-seven other states, too, according to Mr. Google.)

In this case, the absence of something was a plus. With a gazillion white Elantras buzzing around of the approximate year range being sought, the lack of a front plate was a distinguishing (non)-feature. Scoring footage of a car with no front plate was a win and set it apart.

Either the plate was removed, or the car came from someplace distant. (Most one-plate states are far from Idaho, the nearest being Arizona.) It turned out to be the vehicle of an out-of-state student from PA who should have stayed in PA with Mother and Father.
For a detailed explanation, see the superb post from @waitin'4thewrld2chg above.

I knew that detail. Just the wording of the posts were confusing for me. Thanks.

I always thought it was possibly xana getting the door dash, dropping her phone. No one has mentioned hearing her open and close the front door. Is it possible she saw the light of either the door opening or xanas phone being used as a flashlight to get her food? We know it was dropped at that front door, yet we don't hear about her retrieving it. At least not that I remember. But it was so close in time to the attack that they could be seen as 1 event.

we know it was dropped at the front door??

  • #159

yeah and she used the word sparkler too so kind of like sputtering flashes of light
I'm thinking one of those
There is just so much we don't know, lost because BK murdered multiple witnesses.

But there's also a lot we do know.

Like we learned that the DDD didn't not see who retrieved the order she left at the lower level door.

We now know that, at a time, XK and EC were on the couch together. I don't think we know what time EC sent himself to bed or what time XK acquired nightwear (sweatshirt and panties, no footwear).

We now know the DDD arrived much earlier than we knew. She was in the area for 15 minutes, moved her vehicle, was on foot, was going to deliver to the slider but opted not to, all starting at about 3:45 am.

And we know that BK was circling the neighborhood like a shark to bloody water, and that he was looping from about 3:30 onward and overlapped with the DDD, quite intensely really.

She may have gotten the window wrong but she got the hair color right, indicating she'd seen a dark haired girl in the window. Popping up and down out of sight.

Consider: XK was expecting her DD at 3:45, may have been tracking it in real time on her phone. KG could have been waiting with her, happy to have found Murphy. Didn't one of the surviving roommates say someone said she was going up to bed? Maybe she was keeping XP company until her DD arrived and had only recent 'gone to bed' when BB entered.

If XK was on the couch, popping up periodically to check for her delivery, the DDD could have interpreted that as popping quickly out of sight when it really was popping quickly in to sight -- a quick scan for headlights. But also, if she was watching for her DD, XK could have seen the Elantra, even thinking it might be her DD.

It is just so unfathomable that, just two hours before BK breached their slider, the five roommates, the one guest and the one dog were all very much alive but also AWAKE.

BK was still at his apartment, no doubt gathering his kill kit and taking active steps to mitigate transfer...

Chumming on KG's bed
Housemates letting Murphy out
Everybody hungry
Food truck meal, chips, call to the sober driver, DD order....
Calls to KG's ex-boyfriend
TikTok

While he probably showered, shaved, dressed -- all with ghastly intent. Sharpened his kbar. Checked the scanner, to monitor the police presence in his apartment complex. All systems go.

The convergence chills me.

1122 King Road embodied the college experience, that microcosm of real life that should have become, over the span of decades, a delightful kaleidoscope of memories, the same mental montage so many of us have, when we reflect on that plump epoch of our pasts. Instead he murdered that. Murdered four college kids, living the college dream.

Evil.

JMO

I missed the chip detail. Who was eating chips?
