Please Read - Media Appeal

YIKES! Glad you caught that lauriej. Somehow I pasted the email address in here using the wrong link (the email address IS CORRECT though). And remember, rather than a story link, this is simply an email address where anyone who might be interested in participating in WTVD's story, which they are preparing for air TODAY (Saturday), can contact them.

I, unfortunately, am a lurker with little idea of how you are researching all of this with your computers. Jeez, could you share a little wealth in this area to us beginners?
Just go to a search engine like Google.com, Dogpile.com, etc., and type in a name or a clear description of what you're looking for, and it'll give you a list of articles, websites, photos, etc., that match your search criteria. Then it's just a matter of weeding through the results. There are other, more specific things you can do but it varies depending on what it is that you're looking for. Hope this helps for a start. :)

Any link to the follow up story yet?

I haven't found one. I am so hoping that they didn't nix the idea because they didn't hear from anybody. I really stand by my belief that the reporters may think if nobody that knows Janet cares enough to talk, nobody will want to read the story either. It's all about ratings. In the Natalie case, if nobody was willing to talk to the media (i.e. Natalie's parents and extended family, Joran's parents, etc.), there would be no stories to report since LE is being so tightlipped also. I am despondent to think that this crime may go cold because LE told everyone it wasn't random, no need to worry, and nobody is asking questions, demanding answers or talking publically about Janet!

Well, I have found nothing thus far to indicate that the story ran.... I'm pursuing that as best I can...

My hope is that the story got bumped, as perhaps they are developing a bigger story - maybe if someone who knew Janet and/or Raven did in fact contact the television station directly.

I'll post any additional info that I find and/or hear about...

I hope that they are realizing that there is a lot to review here, and that maybe this is a story that might deserve to run during the week, where it can get full attention - my hope is that they just don't run it as a "two month anniversary" story, but really dig deep to see why Raven isn't commenting, why he isn't involved in trying to find out who killed his wife, is he cooperating with police, and why isn't he stating firmly that he is innocent, and does not want his good name sullied. There is so much to investigate here, and I hope and pray the media can actually go after this and help provide answers.

Thanks for the help, I know about Google and Yahoo but didn't know about dogpile. Going on vacation for two weeks and will be out of the net. Will be reading this site if I can get to a public computer. Great work everyone, between this and the Laci board and the David Camm trial coming up, I will be very busy this summer.

There are others as well - altavista.com, (my favorite); mamma.com, (absolutely terrible); ask.com. In fact, you can do a search for search engines, and you'll probably find more.

We look forward to seeing you back in two weeks! :)

The News Gazette, a paper for the Lexington, Buena Vista and Southern Virginia University communities, published a story today:

http://www.thenews-gazette.com/articles/2005/07/06/news/local2.txt

A quote from the article:
"Michaels reported a resurgence of media attention on the murder after two months had passed and was scheduled to appear on two televised broadcasts on July 5."

Every story could help--you never know what other sources could pick it up.

Please keep seeking media help and JFJ!

Ok, here's a television report from this morning, July 6, on the local 24 hour news channel, News14 Carolina. There is a video on the page as well (these usually don't last too long on these links).

The key statement from the police spokeswoman:

"What our investigation has shown so far is that we don't believe this was a random act of violence but at this time no charges have been filed and any information would be helpful,” said Kammie Michaels of the Durham Police Department."

Does anybody else think that waiting 2 months after a brutal murder and then asking for information is odd...hmmm....maybe more like stupid? WTH? Uhhhh, don't you think you could have gotten this request out to the public/media sooner, huh?

Heya EI! that statement just drives me bat$hit. It's as if they were just making nice-nice with the media and not giving the public any information other than again ... NOT RANDOM -- don't panic.

Yeah, they were just giving the media as little as possible. That satement says "we aren't telling you anthing."

Glad to "read" you again GM! Been missin ya lovin:blowkiss: .

So what do you think? They asked for information, should we send them copies of all the threads in this forum and all the information we have received from our investigation? Think that is enough info for them? You're right Moxie, with all those words, they didn't say one new thing. I don't get it though, why don't the reporters push? Why don't you think it's random? If it's not random, do you have a suspect? What kind of information are you looking for?

Can we all say "PROBABLE CAUSE"
I think you are right. And I wish you weren't. I wish with all my heart that Raven didn't do this.

Dear all,
Please don't give up yet...I sure haven't. My sister is on the case. I have spoken with her about the story and she has sent a folder to 20/20. They of course will look over the file and let her know if they want to persue it.

THANK YOU BG! Be assured, we have not given up. Raven isn't going to get off that easy. I hope the 20/20 folder was full of all this juicy drama which should catch their attention and bring the much needed focus on what really happened, Kaiden lost his mommy because of some horrific human being's selfish act!
