Not surprised that Steve Stephens committed suicide.

(You guys were smart to note that when I was all mad about her saying "he really is a nice guy" that it was probably in order to not further incite him, etc, and perhaps advised by LE...I was so irritated I didn't even think of that at the time, and I went to bed stewing he "really is a nice guy? Pa-leeeese! I doubt Mr. Godwin's family feels the same way or wants to hear this right now!!" I even tried to get up outo bed and turn my device back on to post "Pa-leeeease!" but my battery was dead lol. I love how we can help balance each other out sometimes.)

I'm going to say I don't believe the fb time line yet. I think there is a time zone error. No way it took that long for someone to alert. No way.

Ugh I forgot how scary Elliot was ..............

This is only mo and in all likelihood not worth much but for some reason, I never had a homicdey "feeling" with him

The one 10 days ago scared me much more

However, Roger Elliot video remains the creepiest one I have ever experienced (his last one)

Will never forget the first time I saw it the sunlight....................

only mo

Elliot Rodger comes off as really arrogant and narcissistic. He is a perpetual victim. He has a lot of repressed anger in him.

Seung-Hui Cho made videos. Same thing.

Is it wrong of me to be slightly satisfied that his last meal was a crappy one?

I wonder if they release how much cash he had on him that could be telling...........

I think the McDonalds angle is being overplayed just cause it is McDonalds moo

Stephens was spotted just after 11 a.m. by an alert citizen near the intersection of Buffalo Road and Downing Avenue in Erie County, Pennsylvania, which is less than two miles from PSP Troop E headquarters.

I believe the Mom said he was a nice guy because that was how she knew him for three years and this was completely out of character for him. A neighbor interviewed last time he saw him shortly before this happened he was staying there with her three girls fixing up her garage.

I remain confused about his living situation. It sounded like he was living with HER. But today the news said he had his mailing address for 15 years. He did not know her that long - so was she living with him in his house?

Or were they not living together and the relationship just ended ?

We have no idea how many times he's said those things to her for money, sympathy, etc. At some point you're just being an enabler when you continue to give, listen, etc. I have a family member with addiction issues. Finally my grandmother did the same thing. She basically told him she's not bailing him out anymore, and don't ask her for anything again. I have no idea if this is the case here, or not. I can't pass judgment on this woman. I consider her to be a victim as well.

My sense was he had said that to her often. I think there is a huge and dangerous myth out there that suicide is impulsive. Rarely.

Unless IMO there is psychosis it is rarely impulsive.

It is an agonizing battle not to kill oneself. There is a difference and its huge. People respond generally to feeling manipulated when ones they care about are reaching out.

It can be manipulative (more often female) but often it is asking for help in terms of not doing it.

It's scary for a person to want to be dead. Often feeling as if things get worse one can just kill themselves often and for years can provide relief and in and of itself be its own support system- since often that is all they have - cause folks - especially America and its lack of understanding that mental illness is no different than cancer.

Respectfully, I have heard it often here. The notion that people are "using " the insanity defense. If we changed the name of it to "suffering from a medical issue that impacts feeling thinking and behaviors" a lot more people (money) would be in mental health settings as opposed to a cage in prison for being sick.

IMO, there is this 1950's (asylum stuff) notion in America that embraces this rigid knows right and wrong and therefore if that is present mental illness had nothing to do with anything. That is from the 50's.

We know much more about mental illness yet those old beliefs persist. Most mentally ill people (except psychotic/delusional) know what they are doing is wrong- that does not IMO translate to an ability (because of being mentally ill) not do "it".

Until IMO our society totally views mental illness no different than diabetes, or whatever, the mentally ill , who , most of the time, can tell between right and wrong, will continue to kill each other.

The notion of "evil" is just too simple. IMO it is far more complicated than that! It kinda gets society off the hook.

At the moment I can't recall a mass shooter who was not mentally ill. Impulse control issues are highly related to mental illness.

Holmes, Austin, Elliot, Omar,Lanza, Columbine, Cascade mall,( I think he just killed himself) Lauderdale Airport, planned parenthood, congresswoman guy were all mentally ill.

If one asked Holmes 8 months earlier if it is "correct or right" to go kill XX of people he would say no .

Any of the abovementioned would answer the question the same, IMO, at an earlier point in their lives

Bundy might say yes!

The fort Lauderdale guy is a terrorist despite the fact that he goes in to the FBI and says he is being controlled by the CIA

Holmes was just evil evil until a year later his book to his doctor was revealed.

Lanza was just evil until a year later we found out he could not leave his room and was communicating with his mother via email in the same home.

Austin was just evil evil evil and then when his blood came back that quieted down.

Elliot was just evil evil evil and then his writings came out and that quieted down.

Despite Omar's wife 36 hours after stated he was bipolar he is still evil evil evil.

The Columbine kids were evil evil evil for years until their writings were seriously studied

The planned parenthood guy was evil evil evil until the world saw him in court talking to his sneakers.

Serial killers might fall more into evil.

Would anyone tell someone with cancer:

Just pull yourself out of it

Everyone has bad days

Etc etc

If you notice several times he clearly outlined that he felt unheard. So did Elliot. Elliots family IMO were more aware because of his Aspergers, money and seemed to try to get him help - but they still , at the end , well.............................

Good lengthy interview with McDonalds owner in detail telling exactly what happened. It was 6 piece chicken McNuggets not 20 like all the websites are reporting.

Very good presser. PA state police major said they hadn't received info from Cleveland that Stephens phone pinged in the area, but they were already following news and social media so were on high alert. They knew Stephens had come to Erie, to the casino there, so they were all watching carefully - state and local LE.

He also said their SHP posts in the area had received numerous tips about possible sightings over the last couple days and followed up on all of them. When the McDonalds employee called, they responded quickly. Had 4 state patrol cars and one local police car.

Autopsy will be done tomorrow. Right now they have a search warrant on the car and contents and will do a thorough investigation.
They will also go back and investigate to see if Stephens was in the area today or yesterday. They'll go back and review again all the other tips they received from people who thought they saw Stephens. Will try to figure out where he was, said there are a lot of places to hide around Erie area.

He also had high praise for the McD employee who called in the tip and all the other members of the public who called in tips. He says police really need the public's help in these cases and it worked very well this time. He was extremely grateful to the McD employee - but right now are not saying it's a McD employee nor are they giving out their name.

He also said the state patrol cars had video recording of the stop/apprehension, so that will also be reviewed. They usually don't make those videos available to the public.

But yeah, they had been on high alert up there. They work a lot with Cleveland PD and figured out there was a good chance he would come that way.

What happened on that day?

The highest numbers I remember off the top of my head are the Boston Marathon threads, especially downstairs, as well as when Lizzy and Lyric were found; those were in the hundreds, iirc Those are the times I remember the most people, but I know there have probaby been many others such as Caylee and JonBenet threads, maybe others. It also seems WS is growing and that's awesome to see.

Hannah Graham's threads also had a lot of people. I'm sure there are so many more...

[h=1]Facebook murderer Steve Stephens kills himself after McDonald's visit and police pursuit in Pennsylvania[/h]He ordered 20 McNuggets to go — and then took himself out.
Facebook killer Steve Stephens, outed by a fast-thinking fast-food worker, ended his life and a massive three-day manhunt Tuesday by pumping a bullet into his head as Pennsylvania state troopers closed in.

.......

Lane met with the victim’s family on Tuesday morning.

......

Haymon, 44, told the Daily News that her father’s funeral was set for Saturday.

........

Yet authorities wouldn’t say if anyone was in line for the promised $50,000 reward in the case.

.......

An autopsy was planned for Wednesday on the body of Stephens, who had no past criminal record.

........

The killer’s mother, Maggie Green, said he stopped by her home to say goodbye on the Saturday before the slaying.

Not surprised that Steve Stephens committed suicide.

I am not surprised at the outcome either, he was way out of his depth.
It was suicide by his own hand or 'suicide-by-police' (forcing LE to shoot him).
If he had any bullets left it would be by his own hand.
He was way out of his depth, and out of his mind.

I googled that date. It was the day that Michael Brown was shot in ferguson and the riots erupted.

That's the date that two of our members requested through the freedom of the information act, the evidence of the Caylee Anthony case. They discovered that Casey Anthony had indeed googled "fool proof suffocation" under her account. Those Two members were on Nancy Grace.

Thank you. I actually wasn't talking about mental illness. I was talking about addiction (gambling). I'm not sure if you meant to quote me or not.

There was an interview with him posted earlier - a lot has changed! In the earlier one, much closer in time to the event, my thought when I finished it was "another totally uninformed citizen!!!

He knew nothing about the story!!
