Yet another "momster." I will never, ever understand what these parents tell themselves that make it okay to physically assult their child when they - the parent - become frustrated.
What burns my butt the most is that it will be presented as the mother didn't realize that kicking her daughter in the stomach would cause deadly harm so it will be looked at as child abuse at best. It should IMO be classified as attempted murder because the parent outweighs the child by so much that even the most clueless person would know that they could kill a child if they kick, hit or stomp on them.
I wish that the laws would change to read that it is assumed that any person who assaults a child knows that there is a possibility of great harm or even death due to the difference in the size and weight of each of them. IOW, when a parent/caregiver loses their cool and strikes out at a child the law should protect the rights of the child by assuming the parent/caregiver is aware of the unbalanced weight distribution.
Look at it this way - if someone kicked or stomped on a kitten and the kitten died it would be assumed that the person knew they could kill it because a kitten is so tiny. Why then don't we apply that logic to children?
Ooh, I'm soooo mad!
