Police search for woman taken by force in northeast Wichita, woman unidentified but pictured in Ring footage, October 13, 2025

I get Shannan Gilbert vibes from these photos, of a woman escaping a bad "party" scene and trying to get help from a random residence.

Same.

Hopefully LE will have success canvassing the neighborhood for additional ring video.

Assuming a vehicle is involved.

I hope she's identified and found safe quickly.

Wichita police are asking for help identifying a woman they say was taken by force early Sunday morning. Neighbors call the incident scary and worrisome.

Investigators have followed up on numerous leads but have not yet been able to identify the pair.

Police said at a news conference on Tuesday that they have no other videos of the incident and have canvassed the area. Investigators have also checked missing persons reports dating back to Oct. 1, but none of them are believed to be connected to the case.

Things are not always as they seem. She knew who he was. Maybe a domestic situation? And embarrassed to come forward?

In an era where neighbors don't always know each other, if there's no additional footage, is it possible they live in this neighborhood? Maybe a block beyond the canvas zone?

It's not okay but I can imagine a marital quarrel with it with alcohol and he's not abducting her, he's pulling her back? Sleepwear, the both of them?

I hope LE can get to the bottom of this. Especially if there's a woman in real danger.

What do you mean by sleepwear?

She could be a missing person from before the first of October.

I was trying to interpret the same event in a way that's not a stranger abduction.

Could those be her pajamas, if you will, and he just threw on a pair of pants?

Hopefully they will expand their records search. And also review DV calls within the neighborhood area.

It appears to me that she is wearing boots.

Her outfit is interesting to me - it looks like what people are wearing to the clubs this summer. This makes me think maybe she escaped from a car and was trying to run to a house for help? The guy does not look like he was dressed for the same occasion she was. JMO.
I have coworkers en route to a conference in Wichita and it has been hot there, like high 70s/low 80s.

Officers have canvassed the area twice, checked missing persons reports since October 1, reviewed license plate reader data and reports of disturbances in the area. They have generated no new leads. Nine Crime Stoppers tips have been ruled out so far, and detectives are following up on 15 more.

It could be the woman is not from the area and will not be recognized because nobody local knows her.

Listening to the video again, with earbuds, it sounds to me like there is audio disturbance (screaming? shouting?) prior to reaching the doorstep with the ring camera and again after, giving me the impression that the individuals continued down the sidewalk until out of range.

LE says they've canvassed the neighborhood twice, two blocks in each direction. I vent help but to wonder if they didn't speak to a homeowner who is one of the two individuals, more likely the male, who may have presented as concerned and helpful.

LE had only looked at missing persons cases going back to 10/1. If this woman is being held against her will, it's possible she's missing from another state altogether and/or has been missing for longer, even a lot longer than a couple of weeks IMO.

I hope they can find her soon and verify her safety.

“***UPDATE***

Female from doorbell video located safely.

This afternoon around 3 p.m. Wichita Police Investigators received a phone call, from a female claiming to be the individual investigators were attempting to identify. Investigators immediately responded to her location, made contact, and transported her to City Hall for further investigation.

Investigators are conducting interviews currently. We have identified the female as a 35-year-old female who lives in the area where the video was captured. At this stage of the investigation, we believe this incident is a case of domestic violence between the female and her boyfriend. The female does not have any significant injuries.

We want to thank the public for sharing the video and still images that generated additional attention about this incident, we do believe it led the female to call us saying she was the person we were looking for.

As we stressed this morning, we do not have any reason to believe there is ongoing danger to the general public.

We are continuing our investigation into the video and if the case will be presented to the appropriate attorney’s office for formal charging consideration.”
