I'm BPD. My best friend is BPD. Jodi seems BPD bc the justice system has found a loophole in diagnosing female sexual psychopaths and pedophile as BPD to get them off of their "bad teacher" punishment (those pedophile female teachers who seduced their male students were diagnosed as BPD!). Look at the record of BPD and notice it is a MOOD disorder that causes one to deviate from deoendent to avoidant behavior usually brought on by PTSD. If anyone had true BPD, it was Travis - not Jodi. It was a mistake for the state to claim BPD, but they had to work off the BS the defense was throwing out about Jodi having PTSD bc of abuse by Travis. So what does the state do? They run with the PTSd diagnosis the defense made and said "well Jodi only has PTSD bc she is borderline and borderline is a PTSD related disorder".... As if the state couldn't prove the APD's experience symptoms of stress and anxiety. The state, and justice system in general, needs to stop overusing the BPD diagnosis with female APD offenders. It is misleading and unfair.

She's mirroring Travis now, her victim - something narcissistic psychopaths are very talented at.

Trust me. I live BPD. I know BPD. She is NOT BPD. As soon as the state and defense started with the BPD, my best friend and u called each other and said "yup another female no one, not even professionals, want to accept is a psychopath"

If Jodi were BPD, she'd be crying and saying she were sorry so profusely and dramatically and probably would have actually attempted suicide multiple times.

She didn't have remorse when apologizing to Travis's family. APD's are notorious for being unapologetic and it is practically their trademark - their lack of remorse.

Horace, can you tell me the difference between BPD and APD in women?

IMO the difference between BPD and ASPD in the USA is the genitals in cases like Jodi's.

I have a neighbor who my hubby says was soul sucking me. I am female and she is female, but I do not think it is sexual.

Anyway, I won't go into any details, but I ended my frendshio with her a year ago. Just ended it. No discussion. Just stopped talking to her one day.

She has emailed my friends in other countries that she got off of my FB friend's list to ask if I said anything about her. Not straight out asking. Round about. They told me.

She had her BF call here in Dec to see about getting together.

Hubby said it was not to get together again, but to have the last say. She was going to drop me!

Now when we see her by her house when we drive by, she turns her head.

Anyway, I am extrapolating to Jodi. No personality of their owni. Competitive about anything and must win. Totally not cognizant of their own abilities or families. My soul sucker was a co worker as well and thought she was the most awesome.

Everything she does is the most awesome, but it is so far from it that people are turned off.

I have met my soul suckers parents and they seem nice. I know the soul sucker could never meet her mother's expectations. The father thinks he is awesome as well.

I do not thnk my soul sucker is a killer though

Interesting. I know all too well this "psychological vampire" type and had a sister who acted this part with me for years. Narcissism is a sort of vampirism.

You are lucky you could simply stop talking with yours one day: With my sister, no dice: It meant 30 voice mails left each day, calling family members and demanding I speak with her, or showing up unannounced - and yeah, she dropped me when I hit a crisis and she was doing fine. ETA:In terms of Jodi, this may be why people initially liked her, and then grew to dread her: There is something alarming about these types who drain your energy, bring negative and nasty aspects into all - as when TA said, "You have scammed me. You are the worst thing that ever happened to me." I know the feeling.

Most abuse victims are diagnosed BPD - does the state not understand this?????? !

Well, BPD is a personality disorder, not a mood disorder. She certainly is BPD, even Dr. Demarte believed so. If she were to go to any clinic she'd almost certainly receive that as a diagnosis. Saying that TA had BPD really makes absolutely no sense.

The difference between ASPD and BPD in women...vs men? Well look at the symptoms for both in the DSM. There really isn't any evidence that the experts decided to go with BPD instead of ASPD simply because she's female. I understand people believe that but I don't see any evidence of it. Who knows?

The fear of abandonment, threats of suicide, extreme emotional dysregulation/unstable relationships, seeming lack of self (who was/is the real JA? She just adapts to whom she's around). These are far more pronounced than symptoms of ASPD (where is the conduct disorder in her youth?).

Anecdotal evidence aside, I think most clinicians would get an impression of BPD.

Furthmore the dependent and Avoidant behavior on part of a psychopath makes them appear borderline. However the Avoidant and dependent aspects come from a completely different neurosis.

The psychopath is dependent when they are successful in their manipulations and when they are actively able to manipulate their victim. They avoid and run away when people have discovered that the psychopath is manipulating them and using/scamming them.

The borderline is dependent because they identify with their abuser. They borderline has low self image and self esteem typically and they latch on to care giver types bc usually borderlines were not emotionally afforded this care at some point in life. Borderlines when accepted by you may smother you a little, but only because they were not programmed to feel accepted bc of low self actualization. The borderline only utilizes Avoidant behavior when they feel that the acceptance of their emotions is Conditional. Im convinced borderline really comes from not being emotionally validated and this the borderline has low self image and is not able to OWN their emotions/feelings - leaving them depressed and empty feeling.

Jodi's first boyfriend Bobby was the classic "gothic" Borderline Type. He was into darkness and was very depressed. Threatened suicide. She saw this weakness in him and took advantage of it. IMHO

It is a personality disorder - you are right Horace. Bipolar is a mood disorder. Brain fart there. Edited my previous post accordingly - thank you!

I agree that it appears as from all evidence when have been given in trial that she is BPD, but if we look at evidence outside of the case from her childhood of getting thrown out of the house by 14 for growing pot on the roof (I'm probably a square but um, I'd never have the balls to do that at 14 yo) and she dropped out of HS. I wish we knew of more specific conduct disorders. She may be just intelligent enough to cover up most of her misconduct. Probably why she thought if she was so smart to get away with misconduct in her past, why would she not be able to get away with killing Travis?

However, now in prison she is getting in trouble quite a lot for not following orders of the guards and acting like she's too important to have to follow said orders. She has had multiple conduct related issues while incarcerated.

I hope we are given more info on her conduct in time.

It's my understanding the conduct disorder requirement was removed from the DSM V

Furthermore, almost every guy before Travis was her whipping boy and emotionally codependent. Some of them even tried to help her botch the investigation! The guys have the BPD codependency. She is a narcissistic psychopath that requires that constant unconditional admiration and undivided attention. Imo

OMG your sister sounds just like my drag queen grandma (lol)! The constant calling, declarations of abuse when they're actually abusing/harassing you! Everyone loves her at first but then they discover she's an emotional and psychogical vampire!!! She has no empathy and cannot see that other people have lives and things to do as well. It's all about her. I've never had one real/tangible soul filled convo with her. In my youth I misconstrued her charisma for excitement to connect with me. Now I know it's just a way to act to cover up her emptiness-inability to connect with others.

Oh my yes, emotional vampires are a lot like the other vampires. They want every drop of your blood. But it's not like your sacrifice will bring them back to life.

I do not want to go on and on about my experience with my vampire, but it is so great to hear validation about soul suckers as I feel badly thinking about another person that way.

My hubby kept telling me, but I could not believe that someone who appeared so confidant in fact was so empty.

After we quit being friends, my coworkers told me stories of how crazy she is. I did not work in the same building so I had no idea.

I recently had another experience finding out someone was not who hubby and I thought she wad as a person. As soon as people found out we were no longer friends, they told us about her.

Anyway, it is good and bad. Good in that people are decent and do not want to talk down others. Bad, because it takes awhile to figure out.

Absolutely: I found came to all the same disillusions. Birds of a feather, for sure.

human, your want to not see the negative in people truly is a blessing. It is unfortunate that these vampires specifically seek out people like you and me. I give the benefit of the doubt.

That's why I believe Travis was like you in regard to his rationalization of Jodi's antisocial behavior.

Yes, it actually can be very bad, in that when things are kept hush-hush, one gets in deep because there were no warnings. I belonged to a scholar's forum for a few years - it was an online forum but people got together for symposiums every few months. A lot of authors and researchers, but one guy was a total fake: He had a very serious criminal record, was a womanizer, a plagarist, and an extortionist. Each person who had a bad experience with him or was duped by him kept it to themselves, including me. It finally all came out, and he was exposed and barred from the group. But it took about 4 years, and by this time he had taken money from a few people, and had affairs with a few women. Guess that may be how Jodi was able to "pass" with so many: Her reputation did not precede her, as it were.

Jodi worked a waitress and was able to take care of herself, Bobby Juarez, and Matt McCartney at the same time. Ive often wondered if after she ran away from home she went to grow/sell pot with Bobby and Matt?

Her friend who was going to testify, Patricia I think is her name, would not answer where some extra income that Jodi had came from. I wonder if that alternate income could have been growing/dealing pot!? If so, this is highly antisocial behavior for a teen to pick up (especially with a family that does not approve and had her arrested for it!)

If she did have a supplemental income in her teenage years built off of drug distribution, This would show she was/is willing to use unethical means to gain financially.

Thanks for your brutal honesty, SMK. When I tried to say something similar in previous posts, I wasn't met with much reception.
Yes, JA could have been seeking a revenge of sorts. 'Beating them at their own game with "tricks" of manipulation. When it failed, it enraged her BPD self.
Actually, on second thought, I didn't think my honesty was particularly "brutal": I had assumed most intellectual girls did feel this separation between their "selves" and "femininity".......:waitasec:

I still think she was sexually abused somehow in her earlier life.

But, where I went to school, girls were the top students so being smart was accepted. It was in college where I found out women were considered to be less by professors. One even actually said he did not know why women were in college because all they would do is get married.

I have always felt she was, too.
And that's terrible.....

If one follows the whole Paglia "woman as drag queen" meme, these pics do seem to support the thesis:

How much of the dolled up Jodi was simply an act, which compared to her natural look seems like a foreign figure- but maybe this is true of women in general: Femininity is not "real", hence, the makeup, clothes, hair dye, etc........
