Pontiac: The odor, sealing off & processing the car #2

 • #241
I am not sure if this is the call for pizza that coincides with the pizza box in the garbage bag. There may have been another call placed from someone elses phone to order pizza in that timeframe. This call was placed in the early morning hours of the 18th. I am posting it because it falls in the 0.7-2.6 day range proposed by the Body Farm. Food for thought.... (no pun intended)

June 18th
* 12:10:17 am - 12:11:22 am June 18- outgoing call from Casey’s phone to 2 Papa John’s Pizza
Cell phone logs- page 60 http://www.docstoc.com/docs/1626040/Casey-Phone-Log-Page-51_75
I know it's been discussed somewhere here...people even called to find out the times the shops were open.

Do you ever wonder WHY Cindy and George never mentioned one word about Casey's car smelling horrible (like decomp) in their written, sworn statements to LE that first night??? It would seem that the fact the car had been towed from Ascot, was driven home before KC was found at Tony's and that it "smelled like a body in the da*n car would be very relevant to the case of a "missing" child report??!!! :waitasec:

What is odd is that LE didn't mention a word about it in their charging affadavit either, especially since they were writing it up as they were sealing the car.
At least GA made sure that the lead investigator was aware of the decomp odor as soon as he got to the house.

Can they do that JBean? How would it be mentioned if she was being charged with making false statements? And if they were to attach it to the child neglect charge...wouldn't that kinda box them in to having to prove right then and there that Caylee was no longer alive? I honestly don't know how these things go. BTW...when I was looking for info I came across this story. I had no idea that there was a live feed during part of the grand jury hearing. Wow!

For part of the grand jury hearing, the external audio system of the courtroom was left on, feeding into media trucks outside.

Hey RR, I am not sure what you mean in the first part of your post, perhaps you can clarify.

ETA: I added a link to the LE charging affadavit to which I am referring. You would think there would be some mention of the smell in the car wouldn't you? I am not implying anything at all by mentioning this and it has been discussed in this thread. This is only in repsonse to the post referencing that the Anthony's did not mention the smell in their statements, even though they mentioned it to LE immediately.
Regarding the live leak, I think there is a thread on that somewhere! I'll see if I can find it for you.

Just curious how specific they can get...if they're charging her for one thing...but alluding to another (?). I know they had their suspicions (think: Yuri's testimony) in the beginning that Caylee was more than just "missing", but LE did make an effort to try find a "live" Caylee.

Sorry...if this it OT. When I saw the first page of the doc it made me so sad. How we all had wished Caylee was somewhere to be found.

I noted in your link. News to me. Said by Jb:

"Casey is going through a nightmare and has been living a nightmare for the last seven months," Baez said. "I sincerely believe that when we have finally spoken, everyone, and I mean everyone, will sit back and say, 'Now, I understand. That explains it.'"

7 months. Thats puts us back to the middle of March. Wonder what nightmare started in March?

I can only guess. That was when CA was starting to crack down on KC about being home with Caylee so maybe March is when KC realized her "beautiful life" was over. JMO

First of all, I wouldn't take George's word that he told LE that something smelled "dead" back there.

Why? Because they put that car into the garage and shut the door. Why did they do that if something smelled like it had died and it smelled human?

I also believe that had he told ANY of the LE officers that, they would have immediately went in the garage and checked it out.

I don't even know if I could even imagine how intense it was in that house between Casey and Cindy. They even had to be seperated.

I'm not saying that there weren't mistakes but I don't know how much information gets to the responding officers when a 911 call is made. I believe that once information is given to the dispatcher the dispatcher then types out what the officer is responding to. Would they even type in "car smells like a dead body? Or would it be "Stolen vehicle, missing child etc."

I could see that once LE arrived, Cindy said little if anything about that car. I think once Casey said Caylee was missing, Cindy knew something horrific had happened and it involved that car.

And let's be honest, a missing child is more important than a stolen vehicle. We don't even know if they tried to ask about the stolen vehicle and Cindy and George brushed it off for a couple hours until they realized that Casey was lying about everything and they finally had to give up the goods (the car) that they had hidden in the garage.

...or he meant to say several...but with his speech issues it came out seven? I'm still waiting on the other part.

As you can see, we aren't taking George's word for it. We are taking Yuri Melich's word for it.

Yuri Melich:
One thing I’ve been meaning to ask, and I apologize maybe this isn’t a good time, but only because this might be the only, I don’t know how often we’ll be able to sit and talk. When I first saw you that night when I first came to your house there was a mention of the car. And there was a mention of what you smelled in the car.

GA: Uh-hum (affirmative).
YM: Do you remember what you told me?
GA: I, I, I believe that there’s something dead back there. And I hate to say the word human.......

Exactly. It is that very thought that has left many of us scratching our heads.

That link above will take you to just about everything that transpired after the 911 call up until the arrest of casey Anthony. Some posters worked really hard on that info so we wouldn't have to guess what happened. Check it out, there is some good info.

I would think that in any of the LE statements , someone would have said something about the smell in the car. IIRC, BeanE and Bond went through all the statements by the responding officers and investigators, but not one of them wrote up the car odor in their report.
It has turned out to be such a significant part of the case it is really an interesting thing, which probably means absolutely nothing!

Yet another example of Baez not thinking before he speaks....

IIRC there was an old receipt of one of Tony's roommates in the garbage...but I don't believe there was mention of purchases made by Casey. Cindy obviously removed items from inside the car...and then there were the receipts she handed over to the defense. Curious...memory is failing me...the receipts that Cindy had...has it ever been stated where exactly she found them?

I just came across this and didn't see that anyone else addressed this but..
Those receipts were in the bag that lee picked up from Tony L's apartment.

Please don't shoot me for what I am about to write.

In my opinion KC is a pig as far as cleaning up after herself and I would bet both of my legs that that car was a sty. I still have a feeling that CA, GA or both of them threw away a lot of stuff we will never know about.
I have to wonder how differently all of this would have played out if it had not been for the interference and total dishonesty of CA, GA and LA.
How so so sad for Caylee.

Does LE have such a thing as "bench notes"?
Surely, someone had to write down something...somewhere?! Ooh...maybe tomorrow we'll have the answer to that!

JMHO of course but I am of the opinion on that night the responding officers were responding to a missing/kidnapped child. Since the A's had the Pontiac on lock down in the garage and no officers in the garage, only KC and LA according to LA. There was no reason at this point for the responding officers to go to her car but to the place KC "dropped" Caylee off. Hindsight is 20/20 and if they had it all to do over again things would be different but at the time, I can imagine these policemen and women trying to find a missing baby and that was the first thought on their mind in that moment, not once did they think the Mother was sending them on wild goose chases.

Actually, Yuri Melich says he does not believe the mother's stories even before she takes him on the wild goose chases. He actually tells her that her stories are very suspicious and gives her opportunity to change said stories. BY the time YM gets there at 3:45 am he already knows that the Seagrass story is bogus.

Grandpa tells already suspicious detective when he first sees him that the car smells like dead body and that his daughter is not being forthright and is holding something back.

Mother has not reported child missing for 31 days.

Couldn't someone at least have popped the trunk and taken a look see?

I agree with you regarding about first responding officers because we still do not know what information they had. but we do know what info the responding detective had.
