That's the mystery, Melendez says in testimony that when he received the camera, it was all together, card in, door on, only the shutter button loose. But when CSI (I believe it was Heather) testified she said the camera's back door was found in the bottom of the washer. I can't recall if she also said the memory card was there with the door because there was no testimony of the second camera memory card, but we have the pic of the blue memory card (that does not fit that camera) in an evidence bag, and we have the Sony card on top of the washer with an evidence marker.
No one has yet to testify that there were two memory cards as far as I have seen, read or heard, but we have the pics and know there are two cards. Someone put the Sony card in the camera and replaced the back door before the camera was given to Melendez, we don't know who, or what was done with the blue card except placing it in an evidence bag and it being presented as the card that fits the camera (which it does not).
Attached are the camera in the washer, couldn't get it much lighter so circled it, also two screenshots I took when Heather was testifying on Day 2, showing the memory card (the blue one, not the Sony) tagged as evidence item #215, and also a pic of the usb cord on Travis' desk.
Maybe MrsPC can do better with it but this is the clearest I can get whatever that is on the wall (that looks like a small cabinet door handle or similar), can't for the life of me figure what it's doing on that wall, at that angle.

Melendez testified that the blue card in the evidence bag was in the camera when he received it. So it has to fit in that camera because there were also pictures of Travis taken right after he purchased the camera. The only pictures with JA in the camera were taken June 4th. Was TA's camera a Sony???? I can't remember.
In the video above, she also says after they had sex she went across the hall to use the bathroom, but this 'event' supposedly took place in the bedroom when pics were taken, so how did she get downstairs to use the bathroom across from the office?
She has a million stories, and none of them match up. lol
She had claimed that they had sex upstairs and did the pictures. She then said while they were downstairs in the office, he threw the CD and was mad, and then he bent her over the desk and had sex with her. She then claims she went across the hall to the bathroom.
New Question:
Why did JM have to play Travis' gun to his head story with no sound?
I have decided that there is only one memory card.
I believe that someone took the card out of the camera and placed it on the washer to photograph it as being an item found in or with the washing machine. Either that, or it was on the washer, someone photographed it and then put it in the camera with the jacket on it, fixed the back of the camera and gave it to Melendez to analyze later.
They look like the same card to me because when Melendez held up the card in court, the side that we saw was the side as placard-marked "37." In the picture Geeves has of it in the clear bag, we appear to be looking at the back of it, where the copper is.
Just I really doubt they found the washer, a week later, open as we see in the picture with placard marker 37. We have the same problem when talking about Travis' bathroom cabinets. In some pictures they are open, in some they are closed. So we can't know if Jodi actually left them open. Another example is the top of his sink. If you look at the different pictures, you will see some have items moved around. That means the investigators were moving around evidence even as they were photo-documenting the scene. Since that's possible, and we don't have any mention whatsoever of a second card, I have to believe that it's just one card.
So, simply put, the card might have been "found" in the camera, but it was not "photographed" on the scene inside the camera.
It's weird as hell that Melendez received this camera with the card in its jacket, though. As far as I can see, we see no jacket anywhere in placard 37 photo.
I'd like to believe there was only one card ever but I can't reconcile the pics of both of the camera cards. I went to Sony support and got this page that lists all the compatible cards with Travis' camera (Sony DSC H9):
http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/support-info.pl?&info_id=12&mdl=DSCH9
Compatible sticks:

As we can see in this pic (rotated to the right) that it's a black stick, and not one of the larger, longer ones:

And even if this is showing the backside of the stick, it's not a Sony stick:

And as far as I can see, the Sony sticks have no jacket. For me anyways, the mystery of the sticks remains.
Memory sticks usually come in two pieces - the mini one & a bigger one that the smaller fits into. Sometimes devices will only take the smaller one & other times they need the bigger 'case' one w/the smaller inside. Just my opinion on why you may think there are two but they are possibly both part of the same one.
Thanks mary-louise, do you know if Sony sticks are two pieces?
And welcome to WS, great to have you a-board!![]()
Thanks, been a lurker here forever & finally feel like I have something to contribute. Haha.
I'm not positive about the model of his camera but I know my old sony memory card came in 2 pieces. I had no idea they were like that until I tried to put the memory card in only to find out it was too big & had to have my dad explain to me that it was the adapter & the card I needed was inside of it. I had that camera when I was in college, which was also around the time of Travis' murder so I'm guessing memory cards were similar back then. I hope this helps.
