Of course I would never say never, but my last point on this would be if you take a close look at the terrain in question there is actually a elevated strip of land that has a lot of bramble and even a few trees growing on it in between where she was found and where her belongings were found. google earth tells me its approximately a foot higher than the surrounding area so it would seem to me there would have to be 5 or more feet or water in the place in order for the belongings to have unimpeded travel and not get caught up in some of the bramble.
I wish, things would be so easy. But hydrodynamics is a very specialized area of physics and it may would have to say something about 1 foot of water and bramble bushes (with roots) establishing rather an island effect than a filter effect unless the branches hang actually into the water. So, as much as I would like to be sure, she dropped the stuff and went on, I have nothing conclusive to dismiss a drift scenario.
