PR interview

That story of the "cleaning up" by the victim advocates never sits well with me, because it simply makes no sense. Patsy is said to be sobbing and hysterical all during the time JonBenet was missing, and the response of victim advocates is to toddle off to the kitchen and wipe away fingerprint powder? I would think that they would be hugging her or holding her hands and feeding her a steady supply of Kleenex to wipe away her tears while talking to her and attempting to calm her. I am quite certain that advocate training does not involve learning how to exercise the skills of a housemaid.

And I agree....I believe that the Ramsey's probably used it, in cleaning up some of the blood/evidence from the crime scene. I have never heard of victim's advocate folks, going around wiping away fingerprint powder....that sounds ridiculous to me. What in the world would be the reason for it? What if the police weren't finished with their fingerprint colllecting. What if they accidently wipe a fingerprint that the police overlooked? It makes no sense....

I thought it was one of the friends who was called over that morning?PW or the Fernie wife maybe?I think it was said they went behind the fingerprinters and cleaned up the mess once they got the prints(I think it's a black messy powder?).So it sounds like innocent 'busy' work to me,just someone trying to be helpful and pass the time. But I agree, it never should have been allowed.

I think Schiller says it was the Advocates who did it.

Does anyone know anything about Patsy talking about taking a CT Scan or something like it, and a nurse appears who looks like Johns older daughter Beth? While this nurse comforts Patsy, Patsy learns that the nurses name is Bethany?

I went through DOI, no mention of it, unless I missed it somewhere.

Anyone?

Yes, I believe it is in PM/PT. She believes that Beth is coming to her and taking care of her, then she goes into remission and is POSITIVE OF IT.

I was just reading PR’s 1998 interview when this caught my eye.

6 TOM HANEY: No. 293.
7 PATSY RAMSEY: Yeah. This is the area back
8 by the bar area, you know, back there.
9 TOM HANEY: That is on the main floor?
10 PATSY RAMSEY: Like the base of that spiral
11 staircase.
12 TOM HANEY: Right.
13 PATSY RAMSEY: (Inaudible). It looks like
14 what (inaudible). This is -- I think this is his the
15 guys had given him. (Inaudible).
16 TOM HANEY: Okay.
17 PATSY RAMSEY: This is like a basket of junk
18 there. What is that, do you know? A candle back
19 there. Can't tell.
20 TOM HANEY: How about there?
21 PATSY RAMSEY: It could be wine or something.
22 This is where we kept the bar things down here.
23 TOM HANEY: Okay. So the stain on the white
24 tile that is kind of a dark reddish, dark brownish
25 stain.
0443
1 PATSY RAMSEY: I don't know.
2 TRIP DEMUTH: Say you poured wine there.
3 PATSY RAMSEY: Yes. The liquor cabinet was
4 in there on the 23rd when we had the people in pouring
5 drinks there. (Inaudible).
6 TOM HANEY: You can't identify, you said this
7 dark --
8 PATSY RAMSEY: No, can't tell.

I am wondering what that stain was on the white tile? Was it maybe blood? I don’t drink wine so I have no idea if when it dries it goes a dark red brown color. From what I have read the flashlight was kept in a drawer in the bar area. Could something have happened here? Just throwing it out there as I haven’t read anything about that stain on the tile anywhere apart from just now in that interview and I was hoping someone here would know if that did turn out to be wine or something else. It is probably something innocent but it just grabbed my attention.

I don't drink wine either, but my husband does. From MY experience, red wine stains remain red (purplish, actually) whether spilled on cloth or a solid surface and do not turn brown. Blood stains DO turn brown as they age.

Thank you for your info about your experience with red wine DeeDee. I am completely in the dark when it comes to wine of any description. It just keeps going around and around in my head, where is the blood? JB did bleed from her vaginal injuries and possibly her face. I just have a problem believing that the only blood she lost was wiped away and only a little was left in her underwear. If this happened in the house then the Ramsey’s must have done a pretty good job of cleaning the blood up (probably will a little help from that bottle of Peroxide found in JB's bathroom). The interviews they gave are very interesting and I keep finding new things in them every time I read them.

It is heartbreaking what happened to this little girl and I admire everyone’s dedication on this site to keeping her memory alive by discussing her here. I hope that in my lifetime the evil monster who did this to her will be known and then we can all start to sleep a lot easier at night. I have personally found after reading more on the whole case that an intruder just doesn’t make any sense at all and you have to come up with some really wild, 'out there' theories to make one fit. These days my money is on one of the family members having done it.

Even though this crime didn’t happen here in Australia, there are many people here that do care about justice for JonBenet. Thanks again for taking the time to reply to my question.

I have read this before, and thought that it was odd. But, I am quite positive that the stain would have been tested...to see if it WAS blood. And if it had of been, I don't think that Haney would have just mentioned it and then casually moved along to something else. He may have been trying to trip Patsy up with that question....you know, see if she became nervous or aggitated and said something that she would later regret. Who knows...

Even if that was innocent and it was only wine on the tile it is interesting how quick she was to dismiss the possibility that it may have been blood. If my child was murdered in my house by an intruder, ANY stain that was red or had the possibility of resembling blood would make me leap of my chair with a hundred questions. I would have asked “What is that? Did you test it? That isn’t blood is it? I would not be thinking of wine especially knowing that an Intruder was on that floor of my home supposedly carrying my stun gunned daughter around.

She seems to say in so many ways there was no intruder. It is like she is always trying to be two steps ahead of whoever is questioning her and she has her answers already thought out before she speaks because she knows what answers the police are really looking for. Technically her answer to that question was probably correct (who knows) but the emotional response to the question wasn’t.

Her reactions to things just seem really strange for a mother whose child has been murdered. I suppose the question is how did she KNOW that wasn’t blood? Where was the reaction to the possibility? IMO she knew there was no intruder.

That's one of the biggest things for me as well, Shae - Patsy's actions and reactions are off, and she's not asking questions. It's as if she already knows the answer to the two biggest questions - what happened to JonBenet, and who did that to her?

I'm a mother myself, and just like you, I would have shown great interest in ascertaining exactly what the source of the stain was, worried that it was my baby's blood. That Patsy doesn't behave that way, when by all accounts she was a mother who would have, says a lot.

I also don't think she displays the right amount of shock, horror, and concern over hearing evidence of prior molestation. I would have turned that interview into one where I questioned the police instead of them questioning me. I would have asked how do you know, what did you find, how can that be - I would have been beside myself needing to know details of what happened to my daughter and exactly what was found in autopsy.

I also would have read the ransom note ALL the way through, several times probably, before I decided what to do. I would NOT have called any friends over, and when I called 911, the first words out of my mouth would have been "They've threatened to kill my daughter if I call you" and then explain there's a ransom note, and the police need to be as discreet as possible so my daughter's head isn't cut off! And I certainly would never have allowed my son to go anywhere where I couldn't personally see him at all times if my other child was missing and there was a ransom note.

And if my husband came up from the basement screaming "I found her!", there is NO WAY I would have been able to remain seated and not start asking, "Where was she? Where did you find her?"

So many things about Patsy's behavior just aren't right...unless you consider she knows what happened and is covering up. IMO.

right on,and as far as anyone saying that as a parent, they instinctively knew the R's were innocent, well, after looking at what the R's did and said, and how they acted..(oh yes...and then there's that goody excuse about how everyone reacts differently)..
..I'd say that parent doesn't have a bit of parental instinct in them at all !

Their behavior was always defensive...their answers to questions a simple yes, no, I don't know. The authorities were quick to observe that Patsy had an answer for everything.

What raised another red flag for me was the actions of John Ramsey when he came up from the basement.

Linda Arndt told John that JonBenet was dead. He then layed down next to her, moaning, crying, looking around to see who was watching him. Arndt noticed he cried but shed no tears.

Arndt than asked John to bring his wife to the living room.....instead it was Barbara Fernie who brought Patsy. Why hadn't John led his wife to their daughter?

If you look at the behavior of all present, the Ramseys behavior was very telling.

John said all their friends were white as sheets. Barbara Fernie grabbed Det. Arndts arm, begging her not to leave them alone. Poor Fleet White was frantic.

Everyone present that day must suffer from PTSD....can you imagine the poor women there staring at their daughters little friend...dead, a rope around her neck, arms above her head? I recall Barbara Fernie telling someone that she was grieving more than Patsy was. If you look at the photos of the memorial, Barbara looks despondent.

What a tragedy for all.

it's the same thing they did to the ppl at their church when the whole media event occured right after the murder and they *had to be seen at church..now I am NOT buying they didn't know about it...(no way)..but not a thought to anyone else there and what they would go through...just the whole circus parade for themselves in order to better public opinion of themselves.
I was raised in church and I know a RAT when I see one ! And they were biting the cheese that day !

I totally agree with you there. That is one reason why I think the interviewer brought it up. He KNEW it wasn't blood, but he wanted to see what Patsy's reaction would be. You are absolutely right, if she was really innocent of murdering her daughter, she would have asked them if it had been tested, but she just dismissed it. The interviewer...imo...missed his chance to question her further about that. She at LEAST could have said, "well, I think thats a wine stain....BUT...was it tested to see if it was blood??" She was just acting to nonchalant about it.

She said in her interview that she hadn't even talked to John about the position that she was in, or anything about the body when he found her, because it was "just to hard". NOW TELL ME...as a parent, wouldn't you have wanted to know?? John yells "I found her"....Fleet yells..."call an ambulance". What did Patsy do when she heard this?? Well, you would THINK that as a mom...and she heard those two statements, that she would run NOT WALK to her daughter who MIGHT be severely injured, but being dead shouldn't have even crossed her mind. I FOUND HER, CALL AN AMBULANCE.....does that sound like someone that has just found a DEAD child?? Or does it sound like someone that just found their injured child, and that they needed to get to the hospital QUICKLY?? BUT...what does our dear Patsy do?? Her butt sits firmly planted on the couch, surrounded by her entourage, and when she hears those words...she has to be PULLED down the hall, by her friends. They literally had to drag the woman down the hallway. She KNEW her daughter was dead....and she didn't want to have to face her again..

Patsy did the same thing....her performance was the same, but just a different approach. When one of the investigators arrived, I believe it was French....he stated that she was "crying" and looking at him through splayed fingers....checking to see if he was buying her little act.

The Rs NEVER showed any shock or horror. Indignation and defensiveness, yes. One would hope any "red stains" would have been tested, but the way that crime scene was treated, I wouldn't bet the rent. I also found PR's behavior odd when it became known that her daughter had been found. Afraid to look at what she knows she has to eventually has to. She and JR alone knew what time JBR actually died. Even a few hours can make a big difference in the appearance of a corpse. No wonder she had to be dragged.

Imagine knowing that your daughter has been dead for hours...and then being forced to go and look at her. I agree with you....no wonder she had to be dragged.

I've never once heard her say she got Dr Beuf goof there in case JB was found injured and needed medical help..and then she didn't call for him either when FW yelled call an ambulance.
