Why Americans are obsessed with the British royal family
Being royalty romanticized from an early a

By STEPHANIE ELAM, CNN

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) - There are plenty of folks in the United States who are excited about Prince Harry's upcoming wedding to actress Meghan Markle.

Of course, she's not the first American to marry into the British royal family. Queen Elizabeth II's uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated in 1936 to marry American divorcée Wallis Simpson -- something unheard of at the time.

The fact that so many in the US already know this shows that America's fascination with the British royal family started long before Harry met Meghan.

The popularity of TV shows like "The Crown" in the United States backs this up. British actor Matt Smith, who plays Prince Philip on the show, said he was surprised by the fascination the royals inspire in the United States...

Reading the article above, and not really meaning to change the topic - but it says "baby on the way for William and Kate". Isn't she pregnant with twins?? Thought I read that somewhere.

Yea, me too.... still :waiting: for that invitation!

Oh, and what to wear? Hope they don't mind casual - I like to wear my jeans! :giggle:

:slapfight: That is not dress code on the invitation I received!

The most expensive pair of jeans (commercially available) are Escada's Couture Swarovski Crystal Jeans, which can be bought from Neiman Marcus Stores for a mere $10,000 (then £5,800)! The embroidered, designer-denim is studded with Swarovski crystals..per Google

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Asking for Donations to These Charities Instead of Wedding Gifts

Even if you did make the cut for the highly-secretive guest list of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for their upcoming May 18 wedding, don’t worry about checking their online gift registry. The couple has decided to eschew the traditional gifting of kitchen and home decorations, instead asking for donations to charities of their choice.

“The couple have personally chosen seven charities which represent a range of issues that they are passionate about, including sport for social change, women’s empowerment, conservation, the environment, homelessness, HIV and the Armed Forces,” Kensington Palace explained, adding that the couple do not have official relationships with the charities they’ve chosen...

Politicians shut out at Harry and Meghan’s wedding

Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle haven’t invited any politicians to their wedding next month, avoiding a potential controversy over whether to include President Donald Trump. Not even the British prime minister will be coming.

“It has been decided that an official list of political leaders – both U.K. and international – is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding,” a spokesman for the prince’s office said in a statement, adding that the government had been consulted on the plan...

Marital bliss: Trump, Obama and other politicians not invited to UK's royal wedding
"President and Mrs. Obama will not be attending the wedding but the couples look forward to seeing each other soon."

The wedding of England's Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle is set to be the society event of the year — but it won't feature President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama or British Prime Minister Theresa May, according to a Kensington Palace source.

It will include Markle's fellow cast members from the USA Network series "Suits," according to a person familiar with the guest list...

Drip, drip, drip. Enough already with the leaky faucet! Just tell us who's invited to the wedding.

Brides in white: Will Meghan Markle follow tradition?
Queen Victoria popularizes wearing white on wedding day in 1840

The royal wedding seems to be creating more questions than answers at this point -- Who is the maid of honor? What will the cake look like? But arguably one of the most important questions: What will Meghan Markle be wearing on May 19?

We may not know yet which designer or design she'll be wearing, but if she follows family tradition, she'll be in white -- despite the fact that she's been married before.

According to In Style, before the 19th century, brides wore many colors on their wedding day, but red was reportedly most popular because it symbolized fertility. It has also been viewed as a color that symbolizes joy and luck...

Meghan abandoned her OLD DOG to move to England. Said he was to old to travel.
She should have waited until he lived out his life.
She traded a four legged animal in for a two legged one.
She knew he would miss her and suffer a loss.
It did not make a difference to her or Harry.
There self serving needs come first.
I have ZERO respect for WOMEN who behave this way.

Red dress by Meghan symbolizing fertility, joy and luck, I don't think so!

I'm not a designer, but I think she would look best in a color that is, I don't know what to call it, like a tea stain color ivory with beautiful Embellishments.

ETA..similar to a lighter Hue of the background of her engagement dress?

I think Meghan would look stunning in ivory or pale (ballet) pink

If I had time now, I'm intrigued to go on wedding dress sites and post pictures of what I think she would look good on! Perhaps I will do that later and we shall all compare photo links of guesses!

ETA.. tea stained ivory with pinkish colored pearl Embellishments? I'm not sure what embellishments are in Vogue for people that are very conservative to the Earth, yet extremely sophisticated. I will have to look for such

ETA #2-- ahh perhaps not as dark as tea stained as is a noonish wedding
