My, that is one creepy dress. IMHO it is better kept in the bedroom, especially for a member of a royal family.

Hide it in a closet with other skeletons :D

A £56,000 see through dress and an 'arty' closed eyes photo is more footballer's wives than the Royal Family. It's very naff. Come on Harry, remember your dignity!

I do think Princess Diana would have disapproved, sorry to say. She managed to be innovative in fashion and lifestyle while still respecting tradition and social protocol. That's not easy to do, but she did it well.

Harry's bride-to-be reminds me more of poor Fergie. Always striving for publicity and attention, a little too tacky, a little too trashy. Also, a little bit mercenary - trying to make a buck or sell someone's products. JMO.

Just wondering, if this woman wanted to wear that dress so badly, why didn't she save it for some social event where it would be more appropriate? A charity ball or a concert or some formal dinner, etc.

The handmade creation would have taken thousands of hours to make and is estimated to cost £56,000 by Ralph & Russo. From the autumn/winter '16 collection, the floor-length black tulle gown features a silk organza skirt, hand appliquéd with silk tulle ruffles, and an entirely sheer bodice decorated with intricate gold feather thread-work.

Kensington Palace confirmed the gown was 'privately purchased'.

Meghan's decision to wear a gown by the London-based designer for such a high profile occasion shows her commitment to supporting British fashion in her new role as a member of the Royal Family.

I don't think the gown is that bad. I do think Harry and Meghan will be the "fun" royals rather than "stuffy" royals....but people will expect them to also be serious and make contributions to their country, so they should pay attention not to tempt criticisms that they are too playful and not living up to obligations of their privileged station in life.

They do look in love.

UK citizens commenting on the cost of the dress, Really dumb move on her part.

The actress? Really? It might help if some people in the US took politics a little more seriously than they do now. It's a serious job with a lot of responsibility, requiring someone who is well educated with relevant career experience and knowledge of US law and the Constitution.

We should never consider candidates just because they're celebrities. Celebrities would be the least qualified and least reliable of all possible candidates. POTUS is not a PR position (though some recent presidents have tried to make it such), it's a real job. The job should be done by the person elected, not by someone behind the scenes who hasn't been elected and is not accountable to the public.

People adored Reagan. I hated him and he destroyed the American middle class.

She has values, something that seems to have gone by the wayside. Perhaps she could lead by example. Pres have advisors and experts. She has the charm, charisma, and brains

I think she looks gorgeous, yes the dress is a bit sheer and the skirt part isn't my cup of tea, but she wasn't prancing round the palace in it and looks good on the photos. And I have no doubt the designers were thrilled to loan it to her for free, so the tax-payers need to stop clutching their (fake) pearls. People want the royal family to get more modern, and here it is! Main thing is, Harry seems happy. I love Harry.

(Respectfully snipped by me)

If the dress was privately purchased, the public should be quiet about it. It doesn’t concern them.

Not my favorite choice for a dress, but I think it’s unique and very “them.” Harry and Meghan have already shown they’re doing their own thing, customs and tradition be darned! The dress wasn’t showing any cleavage and the bodice work was exquisite. She wasn’t revealing anything.

New pictures. Walking in the dress in the garden, clinging to her fiancé.

And the dress was purchased, estimated price is £56.000.

As they hold hands, sharing a joke or perhaps fresh from an embrace behind the shrubbery, they could easily be promoting some slick Jermyn Street tailor, or maybe one of those watches that can get you to the North Pole while also making you the world’s greatest tennis player.

Typically these dresses give the illusion of the top being sheer. Mine is lined in a nude color. I have a feeling this one is well. Very popular in dresses. They look lovely together. I wish them well and look forward to hearing what great work they accomplish together.

Gorgeous couple! they look so good together. It is obvious they are smitten with each other.

However, they have not been dating for that long -just over one year- no need to rush things, especially for something as life-changing as marriage.

I am sorry to say I don't expect this couple to last long together, maybe 5 years tops.
I honestly hope I am totally wrong.

I think these photos are fabulous. I love her dress. Ms. Markle has income from acting. She can buy what ever she wants. On a side note, everyone criticized Michelle Obama's wardrobe as too expensive. Michelle Obama was a successful attorney. She was entitled to buy what she wanted.
Nothing wrong with it. It rings of racism.

I think Meghan and Harry will last, too. They look so happy.

The Daily Mail website commentators are mostly furious with the dress and how much it cost. You would think the PR people at Kensington Palace would recommend avoiding wearing a £56,000 dress when many people in the U.K are going to food banks.

Gorgeous photos, gorgeous couple. I feel for Kate; due to her "station" she is restricted to conservative fashion choices which age her. It looks like Meghan Markle is going to be allowed to be more independent with her fashion choices. To me, it's obscene to spend that much money on an item of clothing. She does look beautiful, modern and classy though. I hope they have a long partnership. I think it helps that she has had a history of philanthropic endeavors and other accomplishments outside of acting, and can bring her experience and advocacy to the table. I root for both of Diana's boys. They had such a dysfunctional example of marriage; I hope they have both found loving partners for the long term.

I love love love her dress.

I have not been to the wax museum in London for maybe 10 years.

It was probably a replica of the wedding dress of Fergie. Beautiful. Embroidered with tons of little bees, I think it was.

I imagine Meghan’s dress will be on display as a tourist draw somewhere.

Lots of money, but I imagine the admission fee to wherever it is on display will pay for it.

They look like high school yearbook photos. Lol

I think Harry and Meghan’s will be more timeless
