I'm very excited, I think this marriage is symbolic of more.

Both bishops delivered something important at H&M's wedding. A reminder about what is really important.

These beautiful boys of Charles and Diana who suffered such tragedy in front of the world are now carrying the mantle... And they are happy. What Diana wished for them came true. And Charles has stepped up. They symbolize every evolution.

There's a balance to the monarchy. Restraint, humility, and power. I love that Charles talks to the plants, to the earth, it could not be closer to my heart. William will be King, and Harry is more free to travel the globe for humanitarian causes. And the Queen, a constant for generations.

While people (relentless media) criticize, these are roles and jobs that if born into one trains for life. To do this work successfully takes the upmost reverence and consciousness.

We could use some of that in the USA. I'm having a little river rapids rafting fatigue. Ha!

Everyone I've talked to here is totally misty about the royal wedding. I'd say Britain has done it again, captured our hearts, in grandest style imaginable.

Beautifully said, rosemadderlake. I’m still basking in the glow of that beautiful wedding, while imagining what their lives are going to be like. I am so happy for both of Diana’s boys. They’ve done her proud...and their Dad and grandparents too. They’ve overcome so much and found good partners, all under the media microscope.

I’ll see you all when Websleuths reopens. :seeya: Maybe we can catch up on our sleep.

Yes they have, lilibet. And, I just think of these two boys, burdened with the impossible, surviving, living, and loving.

I especially don't think it is lost on Prince Charles. He bears the burden. And the light as he has shown for Harry is extraordinary.

It makes me breakdown because every family goes through this, every family is dysfunctional or whatever, every family is the royal family. Dammit.

And yet, when something strikes a chord like Harry and Meghan, like Harry's happiness, like the little boy I loved growing up who has now become a man, a beautiful man, who has found his way...

And the pressure was on with him... Right? Oh good lord.

It is so sublime that Harry has found love. And I don't think there was a dry eye in the house last Saturday.

I love Harry and Meghan right now. --A couple of sweethearts, in love, misting the world. Just the thought of them might be enough for world peace.

I love them. For their romance.

“The wedding of an American princess proved to be a big hit with American viewers, with 17.5 million viewers tuning in to watch on the big three networks, eclipsing the 17 million who watched the ceremony in the UK.

Early numbers show that the big three broadcast networks and big three cable networks combined for a impressive 22.338 million viewers, a strong showing for the historic occasion.

And it was Today who pulled out the win, averaging 6.417 million viewers on Saturday, beating out Good Morning America with 6.348 million viewers and CBS This Morning with 4.786 million viewers.”

This is amazing given people had to get up so early. Thank you to everyone who tuned in around the world.

I don't watch the big 3 networks much, I'm more of a reality TV person. I taped TLC for the wedding. They did a great job. My grandson didn't like that I was having TV time so I forwarded thru some of it. The preacher was too much for me. His speech about love went on and on. I loved how TLC showed Meghan's mom during the ceremony. Her face said it all. After the photo of Meghan, I could see her mom thinking that neither of them ever dreamed she would eventually live and marry there.

Good article. It tells who is getting funded by the queen. Why does Princess Ann get a yearly income from the queen? It also tells about Kate, George and Charlotte, their value to the British fashion industry. Pretty much anything they wear ends up flying off store shelves, effectively pumping a ton of money into the economy
How Much Are Prince Harry and Other Royal Family Members Worth? By Megan Elliott May 18, 2018

Someone had posted an article about the apartment renovations, I don't understand how they decide who gets one. Was Kensington Palace always set up as apartments or did it get renovated at some point?

With all the horrible stuff going on in the world, that is really nice to hear, thank you.

A bit of sunshine and a good ol' knees up and everything seems more hopeful somehow!

I'm not so sure her being a "feminist" is going to make a difference in the Royal family, the U.K. and the Commonwealth. I'm sure the other royal females would say they are feminists as well; they also do plenty of charity work, it's their job.
There was nothing "feminist" about her wedding either, and that's alright. Plenty of women walk themselves down the isle, it's not about feminism or independence, it's about her father not being there and, her not having any father figures in her life to take his place and her not having any relatives other than her own mother at the wedding (as far as we know).

This was the last big Royal event for us, there's no one left to get married. All that remains is when Charles becomes our king. Hopefully he will pass it on to William which is what many of us are hoping for. Not too many of us want Charle's face all over our money nor his picture on the walls of our buildings. It will be a huge event to witness a coronation.

That's not going to happen. When the Queen dies, Charles will be King unless he predeceases her, end of. There is no prospect at all that they will tinker with the line of succession because heir number 2 is more popular than heir number 1, that's not how monarchies work.

If you want the most popular guy as head of state, you go for a Republic, a monarchy by definition is a genetic lottery.

What does anyone do with 21 bedrooms? Is there a staff that lives there?

It is said that Harry fell off of a ladder changing a lightbulb. No staff to do that?

Will they cook?

The apartment is 21 rooms in total not 21 bedrooms. No the staff don’t live there they have separate offices and accommodation in Kensington Palace if needed.

They probably do cook as the Duchess of Cambridge goes to the Waitrose supermarket herself (with a protection officer) believe it or not but they will be able to get a chef or cook in if needed.

Love that shot on the steps!

EDIT one of my other favourite pics is the one of them in a doorway I think, it's shot from behind them and Harry is just a silhouette. Anyone else seen it? I can't find it!

Are you sure? This says 21 bedrooms

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently shacking up at Kensington Palace's Nottingham Cottage, but they're rumored to upgrade their digs after tying the knot, House Beautiful UK reports. The couple is reportedly moving into Apartment 1 on palace grounds, which boasts a very casual 21 bedrooms. (No, not just rooms; bedrooms.)

Kate has to cook to remove all the calories from her food, lol...

Sloppy reporting. :) It’s 21 rooms in other sources I found.
