The royal honeymoon will have to wait.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marry at St. George’s chapel on May 19, the newlyweds will not jet off for a romantic getaway, the palace confirmed in a press briefing on Friday.

Rest assured you are not the only one with a long memory. The Royal Family as a whole for most UK people aren't uppermost in our minds most of the time, but they are an integral part of our history and culture. And anything is preferable to having more politicians who are generally regarded as dim, useless, incompetent, self-serving and out of touch (and that's just their good points!).

I would say Charles and Camilla are tolerated but not forgiven and will never be able to command the respect that the Queen has because of the way ( a very young ) Diana was treated by them. And the way all the dirty linen was washed in public and the press. The rules are do what you want in private but be discreet and always show respect to your spouse. AND DON'T TALK TO THE GUTTER PRESS.

I would say most British people would raise their eyebrows and shake their heads at the sight of Camilla being crowned Queen. There wouldn't be riots in the streets but I don't think there would be massive cheering crowds either. Let's hope Elizabeth II is immortal!

I feel sorry for Meghan, I can't believe her half-brother wrote a letter like that! Presumably he is just doing it for attention and to sell stories to the press. One in the eye for the racists that the most embarrassing relative is white! I would certainly agree that most British people have a positive impression of Meghan. So she's ambitious and "set her cap at" Harry. What woman in her 30s given the chance wouldn't? Not many. He's young, personable, charismatic, extremely rich and it also gives her the platform to do a tremendous amount of good. And most important she seems to have made him happy. British people have a lot of affection for Harry.

And to reiterate, I have never heard anyone I know say anything racist concerning them. Sections of the UK press might seek to make it an issue, but it doesn't reflect the reality of what most people think here. People just want the Royal Family to be dignified and hard-working for the country and for disadvantaged people. And to have fun, spectacular weddings!

I really hope Beatrice turns up looking lovely and with a handsome escort. But what would help her, her sister and her father would be less social life and holidays and working at useful jobs. Miaow! More like them and the Royal Family will not survive.

Should not that in bold be of Cambridge ?? I believe Camilla is the Duchess of Cornwall. I hope she is NOT crowned Queen. Like I said before, the Queen should have skipped over Charles and given the reign to William.... JMHO!

I haven’t seen a definite confirmation, but this article indicates that he’s likely to be there.

My husband had his hip replaced a few years go...in his early 70’s...and the goal is to get you moving ASAP. I doubt it’s much different for a man of Prince Phillip’s age. He may need to use a walker for safety and to provide more stability than a cane, but I can’t imagine he will miss the wedding, unless there have been complications we don’t know about.

The Queen doesn't have the power to do that. Its not up to her who succeeds her, that's governed by the Act of Succession, ie by Parliament.

That’s what Meghan’s brother trumpets, but none of us can predict the future. All we can do for any marriage is hope for good communication skills, the willingness to compromise and to love unselfishly. They have a lot of interests and noble goals in common, and seem to be on the same track. I’m going to be optimistic and happy for them. I don’t need or want to be the one clucking “I told you so” if things go wrong. I’d rather celebrate their love and future life together...wherever the bumpy or smooth roads of life take them. If I’m wrong, at least I wished them well and rooted for them.
