Meghan will walk the first half of the St George's Chapel aisle alone, surrounded by young page boys and bridesmaids but without anyone by her side.

At the Quire, which effectively marks the second half of the aisle, Meghan will be met by Charles, who will take her arm for the final steps. The ceremony will omit the traditional moment of "giving away", where the presiding Archbishop asks: "Who giveth this woman to be married to this man?"

Just checked world weather website. Tomorrow's London forecast: Mostly sunny, 68*. Perfect!

Bummer, I just heard the brides mom will not be walking her down the aisle :(

Yes perfect weather BDE. So they will be able to ride in the open carriage.

Yuk to Charles...oh well, at least she is walking most of it on her own.

Perhaps the notion of mother walking bride down the aisle veers a little too much from royal protocol and tradition. Meghan's mom will have a role as she accompanies her daughter on the carriage ride to St. George's Chapel.

Agree and her mom will still have a place of honor as mother of the bride.

This can't be real': Survivor of Manchester concert bombing surprised with royal wedding invite

Still haunted by the horrors she witnessed, Amelia Thomson, 12, raises money for survivors
The 12-year-old has had a rough go of it. Last year, her uncle died of cancer and she witnessed that horrible process. Her dad became so distraught he, too, became very ill and ended up in intensive care.

So, a kind friend bought mother and daughter a treat: Tickets to the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England.

Yes, as the world turns, it was THAT concert. May 22, 2017. Amelia and her mother Lisa took the 50-minute train ride from Sheffield to Manchester.

Here she is in a moment of kid bliss before her world changed:
What she saw, no one should see.
When it became clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted to extend invitations to people who are leaders in their communities, who offer kindness to strangers, Lisa Thomson took a chance and wrote a nomination letter for her daughter but told no one.

Then came the email saying Amelia had been selected.

"I started reading it and thought it was fake," Amelia said. "I was just saying to my mom, 'This isn't real. This can't be real.'"

Many articles have stated that if Meghan's dad did attend the wedding, he would be only walking her for a short distance like Prince Charles is. She has planned from the beginning from walking solo half way through the chapel.... In regards to the flack with her dad, unwanted fame and media attention can be difficult for some ppl. I am going to cut him some slack. Every bride has the right to choose who goes to her wedding and sounds like her so called relatives only came out of the woodwork once she was confirmed to be with royalty. If she married a commoner in the US, they would not be making their names known.

The Today Show coverage on NBC has been great the last two days as giving us a background. This morning they had her co-stars from the television show "Suits" on. They did a great job and protecting any personal information, but did some asides which were funny and personal. What I thought was great, is that her television husband, who is in London right now and was invited to the wedding, was not on the Today Show. Apparently he bowed out as to participating. Good for him! So there is no media fodder for that!

BREAKING NEWS: Prince Charles to walk Meghan down the aisle

Awwww....for some reason this announcement made me mushy and brought tears to my eyes. What a lovely gesture on Meghan’s part to ask Charles, and how sweet of him to “welcome her to the family” this way.

MEGHAN MARKLE'S DAD
TELLS DAUGHTER ...
I'M HONORED PRINCE CHARLES WILL WALK YOU DOWN THE AISLE!!!

"Thomas Markle tells TMZ ... he told Meghan and Harry he was "honored and grateful" Charles will give his daughter away, since he can't be there because of his heart condition. He says Meghan and Harry called him, and he kept the secret -- about Charles -- so she could announce it herself.

Thomas told us he has no reservations or shock regarding Meghan's choice. Lots of people thought Meghan's mom would do the honors, but Thomas is down with her choice."

----

I have given him consideration, but what is he getting out of all this with all the interviews and exclusive with TMZ. Does he get money for each and every thing he says?

Four reports going back and forth in one day, and now still continuing?

I for one as glad Prince Charles will walk her down. Marrying a prince, being walked by a prince that will probably be King, while the Queen & King are in attendance.

I don't know why Philip is not called King, but he's not, he's just a lowly prince!! Seems when a King marries, his wife becomes Queen, but not the other way round, maybe something else for them to consider changing or making more equal. We won't have to worry about it for a while as it'll be ages until we have a proper Queen again (ie if Prince George's first born is a girl, she would become Queen one day)

The instance of Princess Anne also demonstrates how the use of titles by marriage is very much a one-way-street. A husband cannot generally take the male form of his wife’s title on marriage, whatever her rank.
