People are stopping beside the motorway and getting out of their cars to honor Queen Elizabeth II as her coffin passes them on the A 40 motorway at 10pm at night.

I have so much catching up to do here. Popped in to share:

My friends are joining me this weekend for a gin and dubonnet toast and the queen’s favorite cake - chocolate biscuit.

For any of you that will be doing the same, recipe here.

I will be wearing the souvenir 1953 coronation pin my grandma gave me. It may be costume jewelry, but it’s good with me. :)

My neighbor brought me a slice last night, in honor. Lovely.

Buckingham Palace sent our Prime Minister a request. Along with his own invitation to the queen's funeral, and our Governor General too, the palace has asked that 10 everyday Australians be invited. They should be 10 Aussies who had made “extraordinary contributions to their communities, and who represent Australian culture and values”.

The 10 Aussies have been chosen and invited. They will travel to London and back on the private RAAF jet with the PM and the Governor General.

(For those who may not be aware, the Governor General is appointed by the queen/king and is their representative in a Commonwealth country.)

The earlier recipe was behind a paywall for me:

I will need to wait for the weekend to try this.

Prince William and Prince Harry will walk together behind the Queen's coffin in a procession in London on Wednesday.

The brothers, along with the King, will follow the coffin on foot from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, where the Queen will lie in state.

The King's three siblings - Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward - will also walk in the procession.

I read elsewhere that once the hearse arrives at Whitehall, the queen is in the possession of the people. Until then, she is with her family.

Staff members at Clarence House have reportedly been given notice of their redundancy as King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, are set to move to Buckingham Palace following the death of the Queen, according to the Guardian. It is thought that up to 100 workers at Clarence House could be affected by the news, as the King changes his official residence.

Staff who are impacted by the redundancy notice are said to be private secretaries, the finance office, the communications team and household staff.

Workers were reportedly given notice during the thanksgiving service for the Queen, at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh on Monday as King Charles led the procession with his siblings.

Hmmm that doesn't seem to be off to a very good start to the new reign for them :(
I hope they all find good positions elsewhere.

Yes.

I am also really happy to hear that our PM is basically going to swing by and pick up Pacific Island leaders, on the way to London. To make sure they can get to the funeral. They are all members of the Commonwealth and some had the queen as their head of state.

"“We want to make sure that no nation in our region, in the Pacific, as part of the Pacific family, is unable to attend the memorial service for Queen Elizabeth because of logistical concerns.

“We’re talking about, in some cases, very small island nations that in particular have a need for support.

“Pacific countries are still part of the Commonwealth. They’re setting up their own official days of mourning."
