Staff members at Clarence House have reportedly been given notice of their redundancy as King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, are set to move to Buckingham Palace following the death of the Queen, according to the Guardian. It is thought that up to 100 workers at Clarence House could be affected by the news, as the King changes his official residence.

Staff who are impacted by the redundancy notice are said to be private secretaries, the finance office, the communications team and household staff.

Workers were reportedly given notice during the thanksgiving service for the Queen, at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh on Monday as King Charles led the procession with his siblings.

Nice time to be made know you are redundant.

I think the required legal notice issued to Clarence House employees was taken or reported out of context. Many receiving notices will be rehired at Buckingham Palace and remain in their roles.

"Following last week's accession, the operations of the household of the former Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have ceased and, as required by law, a consultation process has begun," a Clarence House spokesman told The Guardian. "Our staff have given long and loyal service and, while some redundancies will be unavoidable, we are working urgently to identify alternative roles for the greatest number of staff."

Hmmm that doesn't seem to be off to a very good start to the new reign for them :(
I hope they all find good positions elsewhere.

Clarence House, which has around 102 full-time members of staff, said 'some redundancies will be unavoidable'.

But a spokesman added that it will work to 'identify alternative roles for the greatest number of staff'.

Those who do lose their jobs – including workers in the finance office, the communications team and the household staff –will be given help finding a new job and an 'enhanced' redundancy payment.

certain staff providing 'direct, close, personal support and advice' to the King and Queen Camilla will remain in post.

Appearing on the 1992 BBC documentary Elizabeth R, the Queen and other members of the Royal Family are seen at Epsom for the 1991 Derby, taking part in the grand racing tradition of a low-money sweepstakes.

My work’s head office is a minutes walk from The Mall and Buckingham Palace, some colleagues tried to go just now but it’s been blocked off by police and military due to overcrowding. They’ve never seen London so busy, ever.

Another perspective on the redundancies.

However, Grant Harrold, former butler to King Charles when he was the Prince of Wales, said the news would not have come as a shock to staff.
He told the BBC: "Trust me, it's not a shock for the household."
"When I joined, I was fully aware that if the Queen passed I would be redundant because my boss is no longer the Prince of Wales."
Mr Harrold, who previously worked at Highgrove House, the King's family residence in Gloucestershire, added: "The good thing is, I know they will do everything possible to make sure that people are put into positions where possible - and, as I said, there will be people that want to retire or want a change of career."
Clarence House, which stands alongside St James's Palace, was the official London residence of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the King and Queen Consort will live at Buckingham Palace.
The households of the Queen Mother and the Duke of Edinburgh were closed after their deaths.

Well.. ok, no, but England is a part of US history.. jmo

Was Elizabeth the Queen of America? This Week It Seemed Like It.

More than two centuries after Americans fought for freedom from the British crown, their descendants are absorbed by the latest chapter in the royal family’s drama.

Watching that brought to mind my surprise that horses pulled the gun carriage today. I thought they did away with that. JMO

Youtube is running live footage of the lying-in-state of Queen Elizabeth II

They just had the changing of the guards. So impressive

The coffin had the flower, the Imperial State Crown, the Orb and the Sceptor.

So very very regal and memorable.

Worth watching.

I couldn't take my eyes off the procession from Buckingham Palace today, it was so dramatic, i was captivated, with the amazing band, the steady marching, all the costumes, the bell ringing and gun fire every minute, the horses, the crowd, the crown with the gems dangling and moving with the movement on top of the coffin, and mostly thinking about the family following behind. It was really something and quite emotional.
