Ransom Note and Calls to the Boss

Oh Westside - you saved your son's life, You did the right thing (repeat that a 1000 times a day). Every breath he takes at night, is because you loved him enough to save him from himself. That's true love. You saved his children from growing up without a father. It might not feel like it but being a hero isn't always easy nor rewarding. I stand in awe and hope to love and protect my children as well as you have. May God always bless you and your family.

P.S. I'm a big believer in restoration. It might not come with words but with a hand on the shoulder or a simple touch. Sometimes the human touch can melt anger and resentment away like snow. Forgiveness will free him. All he has to do is ask. I will pray for your entire family the strength to rebuild your lives and to restore the relationships that've been broken. ((((((hugs)))))

Ive been thinking lately moreso, that EB had a blow-up with the landlord, her words to him are so piercing" now look whos in control" something like that, what was so much anger towards him for & why?
Ive also found some interesting documents at the Hickory Police Dept site, reported all on the same day, I've spent hours trying to make sence of, but cant just yet, they seem to go with this case, but.... too many codes that I havent knowledge about.
http://www.hickorypd.net/p2c/DailyBulletin.aspx 2 from Hickory pawn & gun and the one weve seen here from realtree service, 10/18/2010 all reported within a minute, seems logical it would be the same person reporting?or same person being reported?

It looks to me like some things had been noticed missing at both places on the same day. Although none of them can actually be sure when they went missing. The top one says between 9/7-10/18 so in a months time something disappeared and they reported it. The fact that they are reported within mins. of each other could be because the LE officer that did the report was doing his paperwork for his incident report at that time. Don't quote me on that but it could be the case. He really can't be at both places at the same time. IMO

I spoke to a LE here in my area about the biggest drug usage they see. Mind you this is my area. It seems to be Crack cocaine, Oxycontin, and Adderall. Now the Adderall seems to be used by women a lot to loose weight. From what I understand the effects of that prescription drug, depends on each person. It can have some very undesirable effects. I also had to edit here, Adderall isn't supposed to be used for weight loss. It's also generally not prescribed to the person that is using it for such purposes either.

Getting back to the ransom note here. I am giving some serious thought to the idea of maybe someone else did start the fire. I'm going to go over some things in my head with this, before I accept it fully though. I don't think either one EB or AB started it. JMO

FYI: When people write a huge, ALL CAPS note about how they hate us all...? *That* would be a really great post for you people to alert on, please.

Jeesh! What do we pay you guys for? :p

I found that post relevant and informative. :)

My typo's are becoming bothersome to me. I meant lose weight not loose weight. Geesh!

Anyway, back to the ransom note...I have to wonder what made EB cop to it so quickly. If she had put any thought into this note, I would think she would have made at least some attempt to disguise her handwriting. If she did make that attempt, why haven't we heard about handwriting experts being called in? It's almost like, she wrote the note without any thought what-so-ever, then LE says, "Hey, that looks like your handwriting!" and she says, "Yeppers. Sure is." If she wrote it, and she left it on the windshield of the Tahoe herself, why not just keep up the lie? Why admit to it like it was no big deal?

Puzzling.

In her letters too. To me it sounds like she is making light of them. Saying everyone else is making a big deal of it.

That is why I am starting to think did someone see something suspicious that night or previous ones, seen that note before. Didn't really know what was going on, but knew it wasn't something nice. Maybe even that the bosses daughter had been kidnapped. They placed the note in the vehicle or knew it was there already. Started the fire, opened the doors to the vehicle so it could be seen. Expecting maybe the doughnut guy to call. It just so happened EB herself did. She did seem a little shocked by the fire. This way the person that started the fire didn't have to explain anything. All just speculation here on my part.

I've thought about that too and I have to say that while EB appears to be a big bully (among other things of course), she is really just putting on an act IMO. She will do what she can if she's getting away with it, but I think when push comes to shove she backs down and hides like a child...or lies to avoid confrontation. An example of that is when she was yelling at and cursing out the neighbourhood children but slinked off to avoid confrontation with their mother.

Couple that with a good interrogator and it doesn't really surprise me that she "fessed up". Some of those men/women are extremely good at what they do. Because she's right in that letter...if she hadn't fessed up to the note and had continued to remain silent and maintain her innocence, where might we be now? But it was that note combined with her conflicting stories that had LE right where they wanted her. She was backed into a corner and gave a truth, likely piled with lies, to get people "off her back" and to try to lessen her own culpability and shift the blame elsewhere. "The note? Yeah I was forced to write it...no big deal though because you won't believe what else he did. I was/am so scared of him."

That kind of behavior has served her well for her 42 years so why would she change it now. She's talked herself in an out of marriages and multiple arrests and has never once been in a position to have to face the consequences of her actions. Why would she think it would be any different this time? She just figured she could blame someone else and walk.

It also makes me believe that this was not a long planned, well executed plot. The flaws were there and it was obvious. Obviously it didn't take detectives long to put it together and present her with the evidence.

BBM.

I’ll await your reasoning with interest since I can’t for the life of me fathom why anyone else would be there starting fires, for one thing if someone else started the fire that same someone else left the ransom note EB admits to writing…
Of course this leads back to the AB wasn’t involved but EB had another accomplice scenario, once again I find very difficult to accept this. As far as I’m aware LE hasn’t given a single indication of anyone connected to the Bakers being even marginally a POI in this case. Yes, I know they are keeping things very close to their chests but we’d have SOME inkling if they were talking to any one in depth that was even tenuously connected to the Bakers. And then there’s Ms ‘can’t hold her own water let alone anyone else’s’ EB, she’d have named names by now, I’m sure of it.

The way I see it, if EB was genuinely startled by the fire, and her emergency call does come across way more urgent sounding than AB’s later one, it was because AB either jumped the gun before she was ready to proceed with whatever plan they had concocted re Zahra being missing. Maybe she’d decided not to go with the ransom note after all and he put it there anyway either unwittingly or deliberately - who knows? Seems to me he appears to have pretty much coated himself in Teflon as far as evidence pertaining to his direct involvement is concerned, I’m still of the mind he’s much smarter than he’s been given credit for and damned good at hiding it.

A question for any of the locals. Do any of you have photos that show the back part of the property? How they use it for the company with the trucks and choppers and things?

How many of you have dealt with a meth head? How many of you have seen what a meth head is like? How many of you have had a child who is a 4.0 student and gets married and then gets hooked on meth? have you seen a person who is on thier way to a bachelors degree, married with a couple of kids , has a wonderful life to look forward to and then gets sucked into the drug life? I had absolutley no intention of sharing this story. My son is doing his last 8 months of a 5 yr sentence. Meth is the devil incarnated. My son on meth is not the child I raised. When hes on the carp he does things that arent him. Its not him I see its the drug. I have seen what the after affects are of meth and Oxycodone. My son will never be the same. If AB was doing meth or oxy he wasnt during the times he was on TV,in my opinion. Was EB ??? Id say probabley. Her outbursts during her arrest, Her weight loss and screwed up way of thinking. Id say she well could be a meth or oxy addict. JMO

Thankyou for sharing this. I also must agree with you. Hugs!!! and many prayers!!!

I have one reason and one only to think someone else may have started the fire. The dogs barking. I live in the country and start small fires from time to time and my dogs dont bark at me or the fire, The kids caught the grass on fire with with fireworks and the dogs barked alot. I could see thier dogs not barking at them if they were doing it. It also doesnt explain why the dogs wouldnt have barked at who ever was flicking the lighter if it wasnt one of them.
That doesnt explain why someone else would put the ransom note in the window. That puts me back to thinking EB started the fire.

Who says the dogs WERE barking? ;)

So she could claim AB made her do it is the only reason I can think of.

AB

But if it/they (still not clear on how many dogs they had.) did start barking, it/they started after one of it's owners went back into the house and left them out there with a raging brush fire IMO.

Maybe.

At any rate, it shouldn't be that hard for LE to determine who put that note on the windshield of the Tahoe and who set the fire in the back yard. Heck, maybe they ALREADY know. :)
