But if your daughter had been abducted from her bed in the middle of the night, fed pineapple, then assaulted, bludgeoned, and strangled to death, would you decorate your new kitchen in Atlanta with pineapple wallpaper?

I do believe I feel a chill over that one. Pretty bad taste on Patsy's part.
You are kidding, right. Tell me that you are....Patsy decorated her new kitchen in Atlanta with pineapple wallpaper??? OMG....I didn't know about that....now that is insane!

Yes, that's correct, to the best of my recollection. I read about it some months ago at FFJ, and was completely appalled. That's just cold, imo. I don't care how much you like pineapple, when the pineapple in your daughter's intestine is "the bugaboo" in her murder, you don't paste it all over your kitchen walls after her tragic and violent death.

It's like the word "victory" in the closing. I noticed this summer that Patsy's sister referred to Patsy's death as "victory" in an article. "she got her victory at 3:...this morning." That got me thinking that perhaps the "victory" in the RN might refer to JB's death.

"Thursday's service, they said, can be nothing short of a celebration.

"She's gone," Pam says. "She got her victory at 3 o'clock in the morning on Saturday."

article
IMO, the celebration and victory Patsy got was never being indicted for JBR's murder. :furious:

I've never read anywhere that Patsy decorated her Atlanta home with pineapple. Got a link other than a poster at FFJ?

WOW...that is truly unbelievable...the lowest of the lows. Why couldn't she have used....oh, I don't know....a wallpaper with a flower pattern? WHY pineapple..? That's extremely strange...nope, it doesn't sound like a mother that is grieving for her murdered child....and the pineapple found in that child's intestines was the "big bugaboo" in her murder.....thats for sure. Very strange indeed....

Rather than make such a critical judgment of Patsy based on something that hasn't been proven (pineapple wallpaper) wouldn't it be better to see if a reliable source for this information is provided?

The pineapple wallpaper can be seen in the Oct 2002 48 Hours program on the Ramsey case.

Having it on film, and on the show "48 Hours"...is just about as reliable as you can get. IMO

I don't have access to the October 2002 48 Hours program. Do we know if Patsy selected the wallpaper or was it already in the house when they moved in?

Hmmm, what are the chances that Patsy, well known to enjoy decorating, who remodeled both the house in Boulder and the house in Charlevoix, didn't choose the wallpaper in her kitchen in Atlanta?

Check this out:

From the National Enquirer, July 30 2002 edition

"The Ramseys had lived in the mansion ever since moving to Atlanta from Boudler in July 1997- seven months after JB's murder. The home was set like a jewel on two acres, and Patsy's pride and joy was its French country kitchen."

From DOI, pb, page 179 - 182....(paraphrase) Patsy is talking about how difficult it is for them to find a house that doesn't call up bad memories...she explains one house had a strong presence of a daughter, with dolls and bows and a portrait of the child, so that was too much for her, plus it had a Tudor-style exterior, which reminded her of the Boulder house. She talks of having what sounds like an anxiety attack. Then she explains that she and John can't stand a house with a basement, and houses that don't have the bedrooms close together are also unacceptable. Finally they decide to take the house on Paces Ferry Road.

Based on Patsy's self-described aversion to anything that reminds her of JonBenet and what happened to her when shopping for a new house, and based on Patsy's penchant for remodeling and redecorating, plus the NE comment about how Patsy loved the kitchen (and we all know Patsy was just wild about anything country French), I'd have to guess it was Patsy's choice to put up pineapple wallpaper in her new kitchen.

That just turns my stomach. And I don't care if the wallpaper was already there when they bought the house - you don't leave up pineapple wallpaper when the "big bugaboo" in your daughter's murder is the pineapple in her digestive system that you disavow any knowledge of, no matter how much it makes you look like a liar. You sure as hell don't redecorate and put it up if it isn't already there, either. That's just awful.

Are you projecting how you would react and assuming that the rest of the world would react in the same way?

Perhaps Patsy put the pineapple wallpaper up to say "you may have taken my baby but you aren't taking the rest of my life."

People react differently to situations.

IMO...I would want to remember my daughter's life....not have a constant reminder of the night she died. But, then again....thats just me.

Pineapple was one of JonBenet's favorite snacks. Perhaps that's what Patsy preferred to remember?

I'm not going to enter the pineapple discussion, LOL. But something just came to me which never has. And I am sure that it has already been discussed, but I really don't have three months to go through every thread here.

Why Pineapple? I am sure that JB loved flowers too....all little girls usually do. Why not have a flower pattern wall paper? I am sure that Patsy had alot of JB's things to remember her by. I just couldn't imagine a person saying..."Gee...lets see....now what sort of wallpaper should we put up in the kitchen? Hmmmm....oh, I know....lets go with this pineapple theme, because pineapple was her favorite snack. Nevermind the fact that it was the "big bugaboo" in her murder...and the last thing that she ate, that the "intruder" fed her". I just want the kitchen to be covered in pineapple wallpaper, so that we could all remember her favorite snack". That makes NO sense......

I'm sorry, but after Patsy got done going on and on for a few pages about how traumatized she was by anything that reminded her of her loss and her grief, I find it really hard to believe that she'd want pineapple wallpaper in her kitchen to remind her of her daughter's favorite snack when she can't figure out how the pineapple that was in her daughter's intestine even got into her house, much less into "that set up" or in her daughter's belly. Maybe if the pineapple wasn't the "big bugaboo" it wouldn't seem like such a slap in the face to decorate with pineapple wallpaper. I'm not the only person who thought so, either...the people discussing it at FFJ where I first learned of it thought it was every bit as distasteful as I do.

She couldn't even look at dolls or bows or a portrait of a little girl without having an anxiety attack, but she wants to remember JB loved pineapple and is somehow not reminded that someone fed her beloved child pineapple and left it out on the table before this person assaulted, bludgeoned, and strangled her - and the investigator hired by the DA to solve the murder referred to it as the "big bugaboo" and questioned her in depth on it? I don't think so.

I don't think so either! I am thinking that probably she was lying :liar: about all of those anxiety attacks. (Unless they were from having a guilty conscious).
