Rape allegations mount against Bill Cosby #1

Rapists proven innocent are majority (57%) of prisoners released by Innocence Project

Lots of our "sisters" are liars.

Innocence project primarily deals with DNA, which ultimately identifies the actual rapist-in this particular case, they know for sure who they're accusing; while getting a sample of DNA immediately afterwards would be helpful here, BC could, and would simply say it was consensual, and nobody'd question it further. There is no good reason why these many women just suddenly decided to pick a guy, who everyone trusts, to say he assaulted them, if he didn't. Far easier, low hanging fruit is out there.

Seems someone Cosby is getting old and it's time to try and cash in. I don't believe it at all. Just strange when all these women start coming out of the woodwork at the same time. Did they all go to police around the time the rape occurred?
It only takes the courage of one woman to break the dam/ice. Just look at Tiger Woods. I might not have believed Janice Dickinson if it was her claim alone, as she has a reputation for being crazy, but when 17 women accuse you, it's no conspiracy.

He won't escape the consequences to his career and his image (for whatever those two things are ultimately worth). As far as facing the legal music...well, most of those allegations are beyond the statute of limitations, so in none of those particular cases will he be charged. Are there any cases that we know of for which the statute of limitations would not yet have exceeded? Like you, I tend to doubt that he will truly be held legally accountable. I know why women so often don't report sexual assault right away, or even ever, but why do men drug women for sex? Especially men who likely could get it any time they want without doing it-and we know he's done that plenty of times.
Power and control.

Not by me. If you care to read the thread about it here on Websleuths, you will see that I said several times I used to be a huge Woody Allen fan, even seeking out his autograph on a vacation in NYC, but now I am convinced he's a disgusting pedophile.

As for Bill Clinton, I'm not sure how he figures into the discussion? Monica never claimed she was raped.

ETA: As far as Bill Cosby, he's pretty much been a non-entity in my existence. I kind of remember a long time ago hearing some comedy bits of his that I thought were funny and that's about it. I never watched any of his shows although of course I remember how popular "The Cosby Show" was back in the 80s.

Bill Clinton

Took me about 30 seconds to find these and I'm sure there are more:

Juanita Broaddrick

Eileen Wellstone

In 1972, a 22-year-old woman told campus police at Yale University that she was sexually assaulted by Clinton

In 1974, a female student at the University of Arkansas complained that then-law school instructor Bill Clinton tried to prevent her from leaving his office during a conference. She said he groped her and forced his hand inside her blouse.

From 1978-1980, during Clinton's first term as governor of Arkansas, state troopers assigned to protect the governor were aware of at least seven complaints from women who said Clinton forced, or attempted to force, himself on them sexually.

Carolyn Moffet

Elizabeth Ward

Paula Corbin

Sandra Allen James

Christy Zercher

Kathleen Willey

I replied to this and my post got lost: So therefore according to your logic, since I didn't take my uncle to court for molesting me- I was 13 at the time, the statute of limitations ran out, and he died, therefore it didn't happen???
My own mother chose to believe her brother incapable of such a thing over me!!! Wonder why it takes victims years to come forward? Shame, disbelief, and in Cosby's case and Michael Jackson's the pressure of celebrity and money.

LOL, that wasn't my logic at all.

Not so fast-she might be making excuses for him, but I get what she is saying-as hard as it is to report a sexual assault, and especially one perpetrated by a beloved celebrity, it would be the right thing to do, so he doesn't keep doing it. In other words, it doesn't do anybody any good to wait for years to tell the police. I don't know that Whoopie is saying that he didn't do it-just that there's little credible actionable proof-actionable is the key word here; the credibility of these women increases with each additional accusation. I am wondering what the point of waiting until he's 77 years old would be, before all of these women have their say? Is it just the strength in numbers? I believe this happened to some of the women, but not necessarily Janice Dickinson.
Maybe they finally feel safe enough that he can't destroy them, maybe it's to see that he's not rewarded publically with TV interviews and a brand new series.

So these women are all liars, too? Do you base that on the fact that the President was never charged?

Many similar sentiments have been posted on this thread, but nobody is convincing anybody. At this point I think 100 women could come forward to accuse Cosby and still would not be believed because there is no "proof."

You are very courageous. Hugs and kudos for persevering through what you have had to go through.

Add to that that, instead of vehemently deniying these accusatiions, he is just "not commenting". Even Woody Allen publicly denied. I cannot imagine an innocent man keeping quiet. My father was a man of very few words but I know, without a single doubt, that had he ever been accused of abusing a woman or child he would have been screaming his innocence from rooftops.

To me is this is very similar to the Sandusky case. Up to, and including, a wife willing to "look the other way".

Sandusky, Michael Jackson, and Clarence Thomas.

Mind you, if someone had been raped, it wouldn't be big wonder if they always seemed to hate the rapist.
Yeah, my dad always wondered why I was "so mean" to my uncle.

Did you ever feel like just telling your dad? I can certainly see why you wouldn't, but...jeez, I can only imagine how that'd go over

I like this option. I did this when my uncle, who molested me, sent me a $50 bill as a wedding gift. I didn't want his money, but I also didn't want him getting the money back, so my therapist suggested I donate it to such a group and I did: Bay Area Women Against Rape received a $50 donation from me in his name!!

I don't like that option at all. I think that if someone has been harmed and win a lawsuit, they should take the money and do whatever they like.

It is interesting how Woody Allen and Bill Clinton are still worshipped after their dirty deeds, yet it is game over for Cosby.

I personally don't worship Woody Allen anymore, I started boycotting his movies when the allegations came out and have never seen another. I am also now going to give away anything John Grisham because he is a pedophile apologist, and I own several of his novels and audio books. I also refuse to listen to anything Michael Jackson.

If you go back to the OP, I was wondering why some men like Clinton and Allen get a pass on stuff like this and others don't. I'm not calling any of them liars (except maybe JD). She's cray cray. I would just like some corroborating evidence. There's got to be some out there.

Thanks, I did get the personal satisfaction of stomping on his grave!!!

No, I was too ashamed. I felt like he chose me for a reason. Many years later I told my mother first- it was her brother, and she believed me for about 30 sec., then this veil of disbelief came down over her eyes, it was wierd, I actually saw a change.
They still tried to force me together with him at family parties. He started grooming me when I was about 4 or 5 by taking me to get my coat out of the closet, out of sight of my parents and his wife, but nearby and he would brush up against me from behind. I knew it was wierd, but didn't say anything.

And was there any proof besides the women's claims?

Even though it wasn't a huge amount, his money was dirty money/blood money to me. He even tried to send it anonymously, but I knew from the postmark-zip code that it was from him. My mother forced me to invite him to the wedding, so I felt I had to, but then I promptly sent him a letter disinviting him.
