She left because she was having a baby with Lenny Kravitz. Nothing happened at all and she has said as much.

I was still a child, but I remember vividly all the reports and scandal around Bonet on the Cosby show. It wasn't quite that innocuous that she was leaving to have a baby. BC was unduly harsh on her and my only concern was that he may have attempted an impropriety. My interest/concern was immediately piqued. She hasn't come out as a victim nor has anyone named her as one, so I'll leave it at that.

Link(s) please, I seem to remember a bit of negativity surrounding Lisa Bonet leaving show and it was a bit mean-spirited imo; and also hadn't realized she made public comment(s) on BC allegations.

This 100%. Cosby's displeasure with Bonet was all over the news almost constantly during this period of time. I realize she's not a named victim. I was just concerned for her.

Zoe Kravitz was born in 1988.
Lisa Bonet was fired from the Cosby Show in 1991
due to "creative differences".

According to Wikipedia, FWIW:

After being in beauty pageants and appearing in guest spots on television series as a child, Bonet landed the role of Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show alongside Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashād. In 1987, she briefly left The Cosby Show to star in the spin-off series A Different World, which focused on Denise Huxtable's life at college. That year, Bonet, then 19, accepted the role of 17-year-old Epiphany Proudfoot in the movie Angel Heart opposite Mickey Rourke, directed by Alan Parker. In the film, several seconds of an explicit scene she shared with Rourke's much older character were edited to ensure an R-rating.[8] It was followed by a topless centerspread in Interview magazine.[9] After announcing her pregnancy during the run of A Different World, Bonet left the series.[10] The following year, she returned to The Cosby Show, but was fired in 1991 because of "creative differences".[11]

The only comment I've seen:

If BC made any inappropriate gestures towards her she does not seem willing to talk about it in the press.

Co-stars might have a conflict of interest if the loss of Bill Cosby's reputation means the reruns of the Cosby Show get canceled and they lose income...?

BBM TV Land has already cancelled airings of The Cosby show so presumably none of the cast is being paid residuals any longer. http://www.thewrap.com/cosby-show-repeats-pulled-by-tv-land-amid-rape-allegations/

Definitely a loss in income but to what degree I have no idea.

Concerned for her? She is a big girl, has a manager, and can well-afford an attorney.

I have concern for any person who may have found themselves a victim. I won't apologize for having concerns and/or empathy. This is whats lacking greatly in our world, some may think people are undeserving of our compassion because they have more than them, but in the grand scheme of things: we're all people with real hearts & souls.

I would feel this way for any of my female sisters I share this planet with who may have been in contact with CB. Bonet came to mind because my memory recalls it was quite an ugly ousting.

  • #388
Maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't seen any BC bashing, But what I HAVE seen, is members posting their opinions, about BC. I even stated that CC might be a victim herself. :)
Granted, we read different.
Cosby remains an innocent man.
Speculative opinion of negativity...that falls in majority...I consider a bash.

FYI: Jews generally express the word as G-d. The thought is that we do not wish to erase or scrawl over the name. Members of other faiths are free to do otherwise.
In my conviction, with ignorance of other ways...I took offense. My apologies.

If this has already been posted, my apologies.

So now Bill Cosby is supposed to have forced female Late Night with David Letterman staffers gather to watch him eat curry before the show.
I'll see if I can find another source, but, it it's true, it's certainly a strange pre-performance ritual to follow.

Not sure why, but this anecdote reminds me of this part of "Everything you wanted to know about sex but were afraid to ask" entitled "What's my perversion?"

If having an opinion that someone did something they haven't been conviced of is bashing.
Then again, none of the alleged rape victims have been convicted of making false accusations, so being widely convinced that they're just making it up would also be bashing innocent people at this point.

She left because she was having a baby with Lenny Kravitz. Nothing happened at all and she has said as much.

"Lisa Bonet has no social media of any kind," her manager tells PEOPLE. "Any posts made in her name were made by impersonators with unverified accounts. She also has no comment on the ongoing story."
http://www.people.com/article/lisa-bonet-denies-slamming-bill-cosby-twitter

FWIW, LB has built a reputation for avoiding reunions of the Cosby Show cast, and has been taken to task for absenting herself from such events.
Noticeably absent from the festivities, again, was Lisa Bonet, who played Denise on the show. As per usual, Lisa's reps insisted there were "scheduling conflicts" that prevented her from attending.
Really? Like what? Couldn't you have just DVRed Desperate Housewives?
Of course, we know the REAL reason she didn't show up. Obviously, nothing has been resolved between her and Bill Cosby and instead of trying to make amends, she's just going to snub every invite she gets to spend time with her cast.

According to some sources, Cosby allegedly fired her for unprofessional conduct but others cite Bonet's nude photo shoot as his reason. Terence Howard has gone so far as to say that Cosby had him blackballed for four years, so Cosby's need to control young people seems to have begun very early on, and his problem respecting the boundaries of other people was evident early on. There may have been no physical contact between BC and LB that was inappropriate, although the question has been arising in several online articles.

Anyone here consider that perhaps Cosby has a long-term, well hidden mental illness of some sort? Or at the very least, a personality disorder.

Sometimes things that were able to be successfully hidden when the person is younger become more and more apparent as the person enters old age. The "filters" seem to come off, so to speak.

  • #396
If anyone serially raped or sexually harassed dozens of women over several decades I think it's highly probable that they have some strong personality disorder traits at the very least, even if not enough for a diagnosis. People who are quite well put together just don't fall into the habit of doing things like that to others.
http://www.psi.uba.ar/academica/car...ica_tr_personalidad_psicosis/material/dsm.pdf
There are many criteria for personality disorders that he either doesn't appear to fulfill or we don't have enough information to say if he does or not (well I don't anyway), and considering many people are saying they always thought he is a good guy it's possible that this is not true:
"The impairments in personality functioning and the individual's personality trait expression are relatively stable across time and consistent across situations."

But some things seem to fit (supposing there is no vast conspiracy that spins lies about him).

Manipulativeness is defined as "frequent use of subterfuge to influence or control others; use of seduction, charm, glibness, or ingratiation to achieve one's ends", and it is one of the criteria for antisocial personality disorder according to DSM5. This features prominently in most of the accusers' stories. So that would merit a checkmark, assuming they're telling the truth.

Another criteria is deceitfulness or "dishonesty and fraudulence; misrepresentation of self; embellishment or fabrication when relating events". If true he bought his dissertation from others I'd count it as dishonesty, and there probably would have to be some fabrication and misrepresentation of self involved if one is to get away with multiple rapes and still look like a good guy to one's wife and other onlookers.

Callousness or "lack of concern for feelings or problems of others; lack of guilt or remorse about the negative or harmful effects of one's actions on others; aggression; sadism"....I think this is highly likely in anyone who repeatedly rapes others for their own gratification. If you're worried about the negative effects rape would have on the victim, the solution is simple, don't do it. And apart from the rape allegations, I see some lack of concern for the feelings of others in some of his speeches, at least the way they have been reported, eg. the speech to Katrina victims that apparently focused more on what was wrong with them even before the storm than how to help, and the story about how he sold out his own daughter to keep the rape allegations from coming out seems, well...

Then there's hostility, "persistent or frequent angry feelings; anger or irritability in response to minor slights and insults; mean, nasty, or vengeful behavior". Many of his friends appear to disagree but I'm reminded of the reporter who got sent a dried up apple, and the way he behaved in the AP interview I wouldn't put it past Bill Cosby to be vengeful and to hold a grudge. There are a few people he's reportedly been holding a grudge for (that have nothing to do with the rape allegations.)

1984: TV Guide Magazine publishes a profile of Cosby, in which he is described as "combative, defensive, challenging, threatening and hostile. The most innocuous line of questioning could set him off." The article also details his propensity for holding grudges against anyone who digs too much into his personal life. "For example, TV Guide published an article 15 years ago that told how many cars he owned," the writer says. "He mentioned it to me at least twice, in anger."

The reporter wonders, among other things, if Cosby thinks he's God and then walks across town with him and realizes how he might get such an impression. First he was nice to the people approaching him, then suddenly stopped and spent minutes haranguing two young women who asked for an autograph.

If he evokes feelings that he thinks he's God it sounds like there could be some grandiotic thinking involved and that in turn is a trait in narcissistic personality disorder.

Anyway he told the reporter that he thinks it's romantic if his wife sends him a dozen roses and I went, whaaat? You run around with Playboy bunnies and expect your WIFE to send YOU roses?

That's entitlement, IMO.

We're far from finished.... ta-daa... we got a new accuser, this fine Monday morning.

Bill Cosby accused of raping ex-girlfriend of Sammy Davis Jr.
EXCLUSIVE: Katherine McKee 65, told the Daily News that Cosby raped her in a Michigan hotel room in the early 1970s when she was on tour with Davis. She said she never told Davis about the alleged sexual assault. In addition, model Chloe Goins, 24, claims Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her inside the Playboy Mansion in 2008.
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...x-girlfriend-sammy-davis-jr-article-1.2052890
McKee, now 65, said Cosby asked her to get some ribs from local hotspot Checker Bar-B-Q and then pick him up at his hotel.

“I remember I walked in the door, and he had a robe and cap on. He took the ribs from my hands and just grabbed me,” McKee said of Cosb

That account involves no drugging and is more brute force and straight to the action than some of the others. I suppose he could have thought that a married man's girlfriend would be low on credibility and he could spin it as consensual in the unlikely event that she complained?

I feel he is making fun of the "psychics", one reason I like him so much. That's the impression I get anyways. Watch the *James Van Praagh* show with Dr. Phil. He was condescending to him, or I felt he was. JMO though. :)

Then score one for Dr. Phony, but I still detest the man. I will never give him a pass for paying the Anthony's for the interview. But then, I am convinced there is nothing he won't do to make a buck and sell a book. That includes books by his kid and his Stepford wife.

As to the topic, I happened to be home wrapping presents when this show came on and I watched as much of it as I could stomach, which wasn't much. Between Ambulance chaser Allred and Phony Phil, I felt this just added the three ring circus aspect this whole story is taking on.

I believe there is truth to some of the accusations. I also believe a bandwagon has been created and some of the women are jumping on. I know that's not the popular opinion. I know we are all supposed to believe every single woman that comes along. I don't.

I also don't vote for a candidate and then blindly support and defend every single move they make. To me, this is the same concept. When you lose the ability to see things clearly, form your own opinion and start with some kind of pile on mentality you are, IMO, drinking the kool aid.

Big pile on and lot's of kool aid drinking going on, IMO.

I don't see a bandwagon. I see strength in numbers for all the alleged victims. BC was a powerhouse during his reign, one that could seemingly get away with drugging and raping women, with no repercussions. One voice alone was easily dismissed due to that power. Together, these women are finally being heard. There will be more. BC was well traveled and IMO used his star to fulfill his perversions. Honestly, it explains for me why his preferred method was to drug his prey. He was going to make damn sure the victims accounts would be non-lucid and questionable , at the very least, should it ever come to light. JMO.

Would you care to say which ones you don't believe and why them?
