In 1999, Bill Cosby released a book for recent college graduates called, Congratulations! Now What? Though the book has been out in the world for 16 years, some disturbing aspects take on second meaning in light of recent allegations.

In the book, the comedian tells readers how lucky they are to have graduated, since they no longer have to deal with "campus sex police." In a chapter titled, "No More Pre-Caressing Agreements," Cosby describes how silly it is that men need to get permissions to have sexual relations with females they find attractive.

In the chapter, Cosby makes fun of how affirmative consent --a standard that replaces "no means no" with "only yes means yes" -- is unrealistic to how sex works. Cosby goes on about "manuals" (italicization his) that "tell the men the permissions they need" before they can start making moves.

Per Cosby, "campus sex police" are always "ready to charge you with sexual harassment if you put your hand on any woman besides one who had asked you for help in crossing the street."

I just read this aloud to my husband who said, "But Cosby didn't really write the book, right?"
"No, he did."
"But the parts you read - those weren't actually IN the book."
"Except for the quaalude comment I added they were all from the book."
Pause.
He gives me a skeptical look and says "It sounds like it's from The Onion."
Still not sure he believes me.

Seriously, isn't it crazy this got published? Looking back knowing him it's horrifying, but reading it.. ugh. And this was only 16 years ago!

OMG! This makes me want to throw up!!:sick::sick:What a self-entitled pig!! (As if we didn't already know), But how did noone else catch this until now? He was revealing his real self. He must not have treated Camille this way.

It's nuts. He was telling us all along who he was and we didn't believe him.

Bill Cosby — who was accused by a former Playboy Bunny of attacking her and a dozen more Bunnies — performed at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Clubs for years for free “out of loyalty,” according to an upcoming book.

BILL COSBY'S lawyers have filed a motion seeking to grill some of his accusers' attorneys, claiming in court documents that they "may have played" a role in releasing the comic's damning deposition to the New York Times and other media outlets.

But lawyers for three accusers - Tamara Green, Therese Serignese and Linda Traitz - filed a counter-motion on Friday seeking to block Cosby's request. They also filed a motion to financially sanction Cosby's legal team, Patrick J. O'Connor and George M. Gowen III, with Cozen O'Connor, for its motion.

Hmmm, war between lawyers could be interesting.

He knows he has more money and can do this again and again and again. The winners are the lawyers in this situation.

What would the world/public think, if BC just admitted that he could NOW SEE his trespasses and realizes that he's mentally ill, and would seek professional help while living out the rest of his days (quietly) seeking restitution.

That would be huge.

I would think he's lying.

I'd at least wonder if there's someone within the statute of limits who's got the proof to put him in prison and could negotiate such an admission as a part of a settlement. If he's getting blind and infirm and Camille threw him out he might seek "treatment" in some incredibly cushy rehab place that is really a luxury holiday haven for the rich and infamous.

IMO

Camille will never throw him out, not even if she saw him raping an unconscious victim with her own eyes. And I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out she already has.

She sold her soul a long time ago.

ETA: Of course, to follow in your line of thinking, she might "throw him out" to ensure he goes to the cushy rehab place instead of prison.

Didn't the New York Times say that the deposition was never sealed in the first place, and that's how they easily obtained it? Did I misunderstand something? Someone please help the sad mister happy.

If he was to be arrested, I would think they could still arrest him in a rehab facility- unless you're thinking the cops couldn't locate him if he was hidden. :thinking:Camille does fit the enabler pattern just like the Jackson family and Jerry Sandusky's wife...

Here you go.

Interest in Mr. Cosby’s deposition grew this month when a federal judge unsealed a 62-page memorandum of law in the case, which had been settled in 2006. The memorandum contained excerpts from the deposition, including Mr. Cosby’s acknowledgment that he had obtained quaaludes as part of his effort to have sex with women.

The parties have been prohibited from releasing the memorandum because of a confidentiality clause that was part of the settlement agreement, but the deposition itself was never sealed. This month, Ms. Constand’s lawyer asked the court to lift the confidentiality clause so her client would be free to release the nearly 1,000-page deposition transcript. The Times later learned that the transcript was already publicly available through a court reporting service.

Bill Cosby Rape Accusers Fear TV Show Dad will Flee US? [SEX SCANDAL NEWS]

Aug 10, 2015 08:27 PM EDT

With the number of his accusers up to 47 and another disastrous deposition fast approaching, some folks are worried that Bill Cosby might make a break for it. According to the latest gossip news updates, several of the popular TV dad's victims fear that he will soon take his millions and flee the United States, for a country with a more liberal sense of sexual consent. After being able to effectively insulate himself from criminal prosecution thanks to his hit show, it looks as though The Cos might be able to escape having to compensate the women he has reportedly harmed as well.

Thanks wendiesan, but that's what I'm talking about. If the transcript was already publicly available, why are Cosby's lawyers accusing the other parties of foul play?

Smoke and mirrors. Don't look over here at our confused, client, beloved by millions, who believes these accusations are the result of drunken miscommunications. Instead, look over there at those nasty harpies who found their degrees in boxes of crackerjacks and have been reduced to representing lying, drug addicted scarlet women. Or, if your prefer, simply look at the mud we slung on the wall behind you. Some of it is sticking.

The BC team could have had the deposition sealed if they so desired, but THEY MISSED THE DEADLINE to have the document placed under a protective order. And they're doing what they always do--blame the victim, launch smear campaigns, shame and blame everyone but themselves. If I'm off the mark, I would ask Donjeta or any other ws legal eagle to make corrections. It seems to me that the legal team had two years from the time the case was settled to present to the court specific arguments that would support a permanent seal to be placed on the deposition. Time passed, about ten years, and no arguments that met the standard were presented. Therefore, under the laws of that state, there was no seal, and the deposition became public information. Page 6 also reported that the deposition was not filed with the court.

Robreno, the judge, had temporarily sealed some documents in the Constand lawsuit but never ruled on a final seal before the case was settled. Under federal court rules in Pennsylvania, documents must be unsealed after two years unless a party can show specific harm. The judge ruled that Cosby’s potential embarrassment was insufficient.

Robreno asked last month why Cosby was fighting the release of his sworn testimony, given that the accusations in the Constand lawsuit were already public.

‘‘Why would he be embarrassed by his own version of the facts?’’ the judge said.

Constand’s lawyer, Dolores Troiani, did not immediately return messages Thursday.
A court reporting service she hired to take Cosby’s deposition said this week that it thought a recent unsealing order included the deposition. A federal judge had unsealed other motions in the case, but the deposition has never been filed in court.

The Page 6 claim was discussed by The Hollywood Reporter.
...But if what the Times says is accurate, all anyone had to do — not just members of the media, but also notably aggressive attorneys like Allred — was to call the court reporter anytime in the past decade.

Asked about whether documents were truly sealed, a New York Times reporter who worked on the story said it was a pending legal matter and referred THR to the paper's communications department.

The paper's spokesperson responds, "The Times legally obtained the transcript from a court reporting service. The judge in the case had declined in 2005 to enter a confidentiality order making the depositions confidential so there was no court order sealing the testimony, then or now. Once we obtained the transcript, we were free to report on Mr. Cosby's testimony. "

An article by Mark Joseph Stern regarding the context in which Judge Robreno would support releasing portions, if not all, the deposition to the public was published by Slate.

There’s no presumptive right for the press or public to access discovery materials, even when they’ve been filed with a trial court, as Cosby’s deposition had. Still, the American legal tradition frowns on absolute secrecy for any kind of court materials. So any party seeking to keep a deposition sealed must show “good cause” to keep the information out of the public eye...As a mere comic, Cosby might maintain most of his privacy rights. But as a “public moralist,” he has “voluntarily narrowed the zone of privacy that he is entitled to claim.”...Weighing Cosby’s “diminished privacy interest” against the public’s interest in accessing his deposition, Robreno decided that the public’s interest should win out. Cosby failed to show “good cause” as to why his deposition should remain secret. As should usually happen in situations like these, transparency trumped secrecy.
