Raven's Website and Online Activity

I don't read too much into his moving around alot - when I was in my early 20's, I moved every six months or so because apartment complexes were always offering sweet deals to sign a six month lease, so I'd just hop from deal to deal.

Of course, I'm a ferocious bargain hunter - he doesn't strike me that way, but who knows?

Help Please- Cylinder misfire and Timing Belt

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off, I've been off the website for a few months now, only checking back a couple times here and there. My wife and I had our first child. You can check out pictures here.

Second and most important. I took my car into a repair place Monday for an oil change, tire rotation, and new Timing Belt. Looks like a half day's of labor turned into a three day project. Seems that the Water Pump they wanted to add was the wrong one, then the Timing belt wasn't "Timing" right and they couldn't figure it out. Then it looks like the gasget cracked and oil was leaking, then the timing was still off... Finally on Thursday afternoon I pick up my car. They only charged me for three hours of labor even though it took them forever.

I get my car and drive off into the sunset. Well, when I start her up she doesn't seem to be reving up right, the idle is in between 0-1,000 RPM's and just doesn't sound right (hell, I have a PV muffler if you wanted to know). I head onto the onramp of the freeway and it spudders a little bit as I floor it and the CHECK ENGINE light blinks rapidly twice or three times and then stays on. I take the VX back to the repair shop and they said that the computer code is "Cylinder 5 Misfire" and the code was reading this when I came in. I just drove the thing 700 miles this weekend for thanksgiving and the light did come on once and I figured it was for the timing belt or the maintenance. Anyway, my car doesn't feel right, I'm afraid I've got some engine failure going on and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me.

I feel kinda cheated here causee I expect to get my car back better then when I brought it in since I paid $450 for them to do all that stuff. What do you recommend?

Thx

I really hope that he meant "most important" in regards to the nature of the boards because it doesn't sound good when you talk about your first child, and then say "most important, I took my car into a repair place ..." Oh Raven, why don't you think before you type??? :slap:

I thought the same thing you did.... "second and most important" ...
that bothered me!!

Okay, so it's not just me being hyper-sensitive then. I'm glad someone else was bothered by it.

After reading his posts, I really don't think that he's saying "most importantly, above my new baby, I got my car worked on." I think he's probably using that lingo because he was on a VX board...and that's what they talk about on that site. If he had posted on a "New Fathers Site" I would hope that he'd say "I have a VX that just got some work on it but most importantly, I have a new son named Kaiden." Trust me, I'm not trying to stick up for him, but Jersey Girl is right when she says he should think before he types. I think this is the case. He's been quoted in other posts as saying how much Kaiden meant to him (not that he may have shown it in the best ways...but)...

This is from weeks ago...a find from someone where Raven had joined and posted to some board regarding IT testing/exams, etc.

But, if you notice, he registered for this site on April 4, 2005 (last post on April 19, 2005)... and I always thought it was strange that he listed his hometown as San Diego, CA.

Just a random thought...

(Can you tell I'm doing some serious digging into OLD "stuff" we've accumulated?? LOL)

LOL SES! It's good you're going through the old stuff though. I've found things looking backwards with a fresh set of eyes from new information.

I did notice the San Diego thingy. But, I think that he corrected it. It asks your home town and I think he responded to where he was originally from. In a little later post I noticed he had it changed to NC. I don't think he was doing anything stealthy here, just typed in where he was born and then realized that it should probably be where he lives.

All we have to do is go to Raventree.com and see that an entire block is devoted to "My VX". That VX could have been the cause of many, many problems in Raven's life, which we all know what problems those are! If that's the case, I hope it was the most important thing.

I see it this way too. He's saying more importantly to all the VXer's on the "let's talk about VXs' " website...back to my VX.

I went to check on something at ravenstree.com this morning, and it seems that the site is no longer up and running.

Pocketpcguy.com no longer works either, but, the domain appears to have expired on that one..

The domain on ravenstree.com does not expire until 2011 if I remember correctly from Mr. A's WHOIS post.

So whatever reason - someone took the site down, there's a techinical difficulty, something.... the site is not active (or was not about 15 minutes ago, today).

I just tried it too but to no avail.
YOu know a thought just occurred to me. What if all of our emailing tactics are working and Raven or his family were getting asked by the media if they, the media, could use pics or info from Raven's site? Perhaps Raven decided to shut it down instead of having the media (or us) pouring over his site.
Interesting...

anneshirley, what I found extremely interesting is that I can still see the thumbnails of most of the photos still EXCEPT the ones of Janet! I am very thankful I saved those!

Wow. Really? I can't get to any part of the site. What I don't understand is why they (Raven? her family? his family?) are trying to hide her from the media. I mean, I knew that it didn't make sense before, but now it really doesn't mesh.
OK...now, here's a random theory and I will completely profess to acting my hair color with this one....but is it possible that the emailing tactics DID work and that a major news story will break with say CNN or FOXNews...people magazine perhaps and they, the news station, bought the rights to the photos? I don't know...it's a huge stretch, I know...but there's always wishful thinking, right?

I was able to get in through cache, but I was told it was a fluke deal that I can't see the thumbnails of Janet's pictures.

I wonder too though the timing of Raven taking down the site. Does he not want to make it easy for the media to have access to photos of Janet?

Or, maybe they just dont want the whole world pouring over every word that was typed, or every photo that was posted.

Put yourself in their shoes for a minute. What would strangers think about you, if all they had to go on was things you have posted online?

I think you certainly make a valid point. But perhaps GM is right. The removal of the pics and website does seem to coincide with a massive emailing tactic by the WS.

Yes, I can see many different possibilities. There is also the possibility of someone trying to actually find the family in real life, or contacting them via email, telephone etc. Anyone can access these boards, and not everyone does so with the same motivation.

Another explanation could be, if the site really was intended to keep his family up-to-date on Kaiden, maybe he no longer needs it, if he plans to move closer to them.
