I have a very bad feeling about this:

Coronado Death Investigations
Media Briefing

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department will hold a media briefing about the death investigations in Coronado on Friday, September 2nd at 11:00 a.m. The briefing will be held in Training Rooms 1 through 4 of the Sheriff’s Department Main Office at 9621 Ridgehaven Court, San Diego, CA 92123.
Sheriff Bill Gore will lead a panel of experts from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail, Sheriff’s Crime Lab, County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Coronado Police Department to discuss the findings on the deaths of Rebecca Zahau and Max Shacknai. There will be a Q and A portion after the media briefing.

It goes on to read that there will be a Power Point presentation. My hunch is they will be showing they believe RZ killed herself. Am hoping I'm wrong. Will save my comments until afterwards, but the evidence better be extremely conclusive for me to believe it isn't 'tainted.'

Carioca .. I am a nervous wreck .. just by chance as I do every couple of days I hit that site and there was the announcement.I also think the tie in to Max is important to their case to show very serious remorse on Rebecca's part and the life altering event that forced her to kill herself ... sorry but that is the way I am reading that power point presentation. I do not see either of these deaths as homicides, but I do hope that justice prevails. Rebecca needs that kind of closure, her family needs it, we need it. Thanks.

I believe LE will announce Rebecca's death was a suicide, but I will still always believe it was murder. I am just stubborn that way.

Thanks, Bonepile and Carioca for posting the announcement!

thanks guys! i did my morning check of this thread expecting nothing as usual, but instead i got news of this press conference! as for the voting thing, i can't vote because i have no freakin idea what they are going to say. seems like kind of an odd arrangement..a panel of experts?? very strange, to me at least.

Bonepile - I have continuously checked the SDCS site for weeks now. I am currently 5 hours earlier than San Diego, therefore already in the office. So it was posted between 9PM and 4AM PST.. Darn, I can't stop shaking... Whatever the outcome, I do hope it will bring peace and solace to Rebecca's family, After all, in this case, we are all innocent bystanders with a common quest for justice. Thanks.

I presume that is 11 AM PST which would be 2 PM EST. I simply cannot believe after 7 threads and 5461 replies we might just get a glimpse of what they believe is the truth. Of course we will continue the debate, and the commentary far beyond Friday ... for our truth might be considerably different then theirs.

I am elated to see that we will finally get the information we have long waited to hear.

My mind is wide open and I am going to listen to the experts/LE who were there who have done an exhaustive investigation.

It sounds like they are going to be very thorough.

Thank you for the announcement Bonepile. I find it exceedingly strange that they are having a media briefing with 4 rooms of evidence, say don't listen to anyone else, and a power point presentation? WOW. I think that if they were announcing a homicide, there would not be this big media briefing. Definitely wouldn't be showing and posting photographs, drawings, etc.

I agree. I don't doubt LE is going to claim this was a suicide.

Anyone know what time the FCA investigative costs hearing is tomorrow? Just my suspicious mind that they are both on the same day.

Thank you so much ... the BBM actually makes me think they will NOT claim it is a suicide. But who knows.

Whoever predicted it would be this Friday - you were spot on!

Excuse my ignorance but what does BBM stand for??
Time, I can only hope you are right about tomorrow's outcome... but I wouldn't bet the farm.

Sorry ... it means my bolding

I wouldn't bet the farm either cause I am just hoping they do not claim this was a suicide, but I really can't get any clues out of this announcement.

Could be bad news for announcing it's a homicide. I have thought for a while they would claim it was undetermined, but my better judgment then tells me that there is no way they will leave it as unsolved.

What bothers me is that if they were going to say it was a homicide, then I think they would have arrested someone first - unless they are going to arrest someone in the wee hours of the morning or hope such an announcement would make someone sweat. Doubt it.

If they are going to claim it's a suicide, yes, they could be using all those experts and such to explain how and why. However, I still can't believe it is a suicide even if it is physically 'possible'. But I tend to think they wouldn't open up all the evidence like that?

What I am really wanting to hear is

* the 911 calls

* details about Max's accident or whatever it was

* where they got certain information from (that Rebecca was that depressed .... other?)

* why they did not talk more with Rebecca's family

* who was at that house and when

* what evidence they took or didn't take (including phone calls)

* what forensics they have conducted and how advance of testing they conducted

* if her relatives had another autopsy

Anyone care to add an refine the list above and then we can see what questions are answered?

We can also see what questions come up as a result of any new info we learn tomorrow.

Sometimes, COD are officially listed as "undetermined." That would be worst-case scenario here, for me.

I would be ok with that because further evidence could lead to it being a homicide. I'm afraid if they rule it a suicide, people will eventually buy it and no one will investigate it further - unless Rebecca's family does.

I also that would make me think LE is being honest about it. I could see where not enough clues were left to absolutely say it's a homicide, but I don't think any death should be ruled a suicide unless it is pretty darn open and shut.

Ok, add to the list

* what time did Rebecca die
